I am an experienced tutor specializing in math, makeup, knitting, and illustration. I have 8 years of experience in tutoring math, knitting, and illustration, and 5 years in makeup. I focus on building confidence in my students and supporting them in whatever may be affecting their performance or feelings about a subject. I value diversity and inclusion and teach through a compassionate, social justice lens. I always put the student and their goals first. I have experience working with students with ADHD and Autism in all subjects. Math is considered very difficult and inaccessible; however I believe that anyone can be good at math with some encouragement and individualized teaching. I have helped students on all levels at all ages, from college students in developmental pre-algebra courses, to high school students in AP Calculus AB, to younger students learning basic math skills. Makeup is something very powerful and personal to me. I believe that if someone wants to wear makeup, no matter what they look like, that they should be able to do so with confidence. What brushes to use, how to put on eyeliner, how to pick the right foundation, it can all be very daunting, but I'm here to provide support. I can teach basic everyday makeup, and I can teach how to get more creative with your looks. I specialize in artistic, editorial, and costume makeup. Exploring color, and incorporating your natural features into a piece of art, is very freeing and a big boost of self-esteem. I love seeing others find confidence in themselves from makeup! I have been knitting for 12 years. It was so satisfying to be able to see my pieces come to fruition and then be able to use or wear them. Knitting can be very calming, and is a good tool to practice mindfulness. Knitting may look complicated, but it doesn’t have to be. I have experience knitting dish cloths, lace shawls, hats, and more. I have taught knitting to students of all ages, both left and right-handed. I can teach the basics, to more advanced stitches like lace and cables. I have been drawing since I can remember. I specialize in drawing people and portraits, and playing with color. Currently I am focusing on traditional art using pencil, ink, and marker. I was lucky to have someone I could turn to for advice and resources, and I was lucky to be that person for others. I can provide critique, educate and demonstrate basics and more advanced techniques. I can also help build a portfolio or commissions sheet.
