I am a dance, circus, and fitness professional. I have spent my entire life in the dance world, training vigorously in several different ballet institutions. After graduating with a major in ballet from the Walnut Hill School of the Arts in Massachusetts, I received my BFA in dance from the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music, where I began to find an interest in fitness and earned my Pilates teacher certification. I later earned my personal training certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and worked as a group fitness instructor and personal trainer. In addition to finding a passion for fitness, I was drawn to the circus world and began training contortion and aerial arts.
I currently work as a company dancer with Ballet Florida, a contemporary company, and perform as a contortionist locally and internationally. I teach modern, ballet, pointe, and contemporary dance classes and train groups and individuals for flexibility and strength training.
For flexibility training, I focus on both static and active flexibility to effectively improve range of motion (not just sitting in a stretch for several minutes at a time). I do train contortion for students who have reached a good foundation in flexibility and strength.
