    About David T.

David Taylor is a North Carolina licensed and NCCPA national Board-Certified Physician Assistant and currently works in psychiatry, addiction medicine, primary and urgent care. Prior to becoming a Physician Assistant, David spent seven years serving multiple nonprofit institutions and service-ministries to include: The Broad Street Clinic, Christian Surfers United States, Samaritans Purse, Team Rubicon and the Eastern Surfing Association. Later, during his time in graduate school, he also served as a Senior Clinician in multiple urban free clinics in Norfolk, Va., and was recognized as the Physician Assistant Liaison to the HOPES Clinic Counsel, and held a seat on the advisory board for Student Mental Health at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Between 2010-2013 David finished his master’s degree in Public Health with a concentration in Epidemiology from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University and a graduate certificate in Ethnic Rural Health Disparities. His primary field of research was in rural health disparities, comorbidities, and health management in Eastern North Carolina. He also spent those three years as a public health intern working in Public Health Preparedness and Response, a focus in bioterrorism, epidemic prevention and control with further studies in virology. David’s medical pursuits have been a stark contrast to his undergraduate ambitions. With a degree in Applied Quantitative Economics from East Carolina University, David studied macro-economic theory and econometrics under the late Dr. Randall Parker; their concentration not only in theory but also in historical trends and their role in forecasting- topics that still remain on the top of his reading list. Outside of his academic and professional practice, David has been a competitive surfer for more than 20 years, winning more than 10 championship titles in multiple divisions. He is a leader in his local church, is a district director of Christian Surfers United States, and above all, is a father and husband – which is the “best job” of all. He enjoys traveling with his family, surfing cold-water in remote locations, and openly admits to loving shows like “Firefly” and reading comic books.
