Trigonometry is one of my favorite area of studies in math; I've far surpassed its level of difficulty and yet its real world applications still amaze me. Other than calculus, trigonometry was the most fun to learn in my experience. What makes my lessons in trigonometry so powerful is that I understand where most students struggle because I was one of them. My lessons will cover how to interpret the six trigonometric functions properly, what strategies to use when graphing trigonometric functions, solving trig identities as well as deriving all of the Pythagorean identities starting from Pythagorean's Theorem, working with The Law of Sines and Law of Cosines, and understanding complex numbers as well as polar coordinates. Feel free to send me any questions you may have, I am here for your success!

About Corey S.

Hi my name is Corey, I'm a computer science major and I am a huge nerd when it comes to math and other subjects of science. I have a strong passion for helping students just like myself excel in their academic goals!

I began tutoring once I got back in school. At first it started off as a little side gig I didn't think much of. For me, it was a fun way to better understand material I already knew. It was after I got positive feedback from students when I realized tutoring is something I really enjoy and started taking far more seriously.

As a tutor the most effective approach I've found is to first make sure my student has a firm grasp on the first principles involved and expand from there by taking a deeper dive into the abstract of the concept at hand. I always teach in general notation along with a visual basis, as this greatly helps my student better understand the concepts they're learning. From here I transition into individual and situational cases giving my student a chance to show me how well they're understanding the material.

The goal I set for myself as a tutor is to be sure that my students understand every topic covered on the same level that I understand it myself. So far my approach has shown to be the best method in achieving this goal. A lot students I've worked with were falling behind in their classes and these are the students I like to focus on because they give me the opportunity to show that my approach to tutoring works with all of them quickly getting back up to speed.

If you're interested in taking one of my lessons and think my method of learning is something that will work for you, contact me and let's get that A!

Corey is currently tutoring me in Java, a subject I find very painful to learn. It was difficult to understand my professor's method of teaching, since he dove right into syntax without explaining the foundational piece. As a result, I was not retaining any of it. Corey has in-depth knowledge of why Java works and how it works, which is a good launch point to move to actual programming. Recommend him for anyone who, like me, struggles to understand the basics. He also keeps my interest in a way that makes it not so painful - sometimes bordering on enjoyable!

My daughter is high functioning autistic and was struggling with Algebra 1 to the point of nearly failing the class. We tried to work with another tutor but that was unsuccessful due to personality conflict between the tutor and my daughter. Once Corey started tutoring her, with his focus on understanding over memorization, my daughter's grades improved dramatically and she was so much happier. We were extremely happy with Corey's approach to teaching, his work ethic, and his patience and understanding dealing with someone with special needs. We intend to continue lessons with Corey in the fall for the next school year.

Corey helped me in Calculus and is a really great tutor. He doesn't just explain the problems but also the concepts beyond. It really helped me understand the fundamental issues I had with the class. His explanations are really concise and easy to understand.

If you need a tutor who has a passion for programming and will go above and beyond then Corey is a perfect match. I am very new to programming and he was able to explain logic and math and various concepts to me well while at the same time not worrying about the time of our session but rather that i understood the subject matter. Also he asked me questions on what i think should be done, which is huge for me because i learn best not only when someone is teaching but when they ask me to think for myself. 5 stars Corey, thanks! and looking forward to our next session.

Corey has been the best tutor I've learned from! I started taking lessons with him about half way through a semester that I was taking trig. At this time I had a D in the class and was completely lost during lectures, just after two lessons with him my understanding in trig sky rocketed, I was able to move my grade from a D to a B! There's no way I could've done this without his help!
