I am both a freelance editor and Sr. Editor at a small indie publishing company. I was led to become an editor by my lifelong passion for reading – certainly the most enduring passion of my life. It is a profession that has given me great pleasure and deep satisfaction. And, as a wonderful bonus, it has brought such a varied group of the most interesting and creative people into my life. I have worked in the entertainment industry as a publicist and a development executive, I’ve evaluated material for film and television companies, have worked on television projects. I have been a partner in a boutique publishing company. However, my greatest gratification is in nurturing new writers, bringing new voices into the great, vast conversation that makes up the human experience. Language is a miraculous thing. I can think of nothing more awesome (in the correct usage of that word, not the vernacular) than human creativity. It can surprise us, coming from anywhere at any time. Anything I can do to be part of that amazing encounter with the mystery of imagination I will seize as though I have found treasure – and in fact I believe I have. I have guided many authors in bringing out what is best and unique in their writing, in finding their voice, their perspective, their tone and much more.
