Educational Therapist

As a beginning teacher I taught third grade three years in a private school for boys and three years in a public school. Since that time, I have had nine years of experience working with students on a one-to-one basis both online and in their homes. I am passionate about helping students to learn, and in this era of technology, I would like to teach online and continue to find the best ways that work for that medium. For several years I taught students enrolled in an online school from second grade through tenth grade in Language Arts and Math. With this experience I know the learning path, so after an initial assessment of the student, I can see what areas a student might have missed out on, skipped over, or misunderstood and customize his or her learning to fit the instruction, books, or projects the student is required to learn at his present place in school. I also half-homeschooled a seventh grade student enrolled in a public school, where I taught her Math and Language Arts at her home, and she was taught the other subjects at her school, so I am familiar with those curriculums and their requirements. As an educational therapist I always consider the whole child and discover how each student learns so the lessons will be more meaningful and successful. Plus, I always include the element of fun and try to make learning as satisfying as possible for both the student and the teacher. Success and self-confidence go hand in hand.
