"A nurse is the one who opens the eyes of a newborn and gently closes the eyes of a dying man. It is indeed a privilege to be the first and last to witness the beginning and end of life. " My journey, like many others, began at a young age. The 5 year old me held clinic for stuffed animals and porcelain dolls. At 14, I became a teen volunteer at the 20th TFW hospital, RAF Upper Heyford, UK. Later becoming the youth coordinator for the program. I joined the Air force myself as an EMT and C-130 aerovac technician. While stationed at Scott AFB,Ill, I completed my associates degree with honors. I worked in the ER for several decades. I then decided to complete my bachelor's degree and did so as magna cum laude. It was during this course of study that I learned that access to care was limited in the area I was planning on moving to. So, I became valedictorian of my Masters program and a member of the International Nursing honor society. "Student, you do not study to pass the test.
