Math with Barbara D.

Hi! My name is Barbara and I have been teaching math since 1982. I was that student who never understood math when I was in school, but knew I was smart enough. Because of this, I understand the frustration many tutoring students have about math. I earned a teaching credential in math from USC and have successfully taught many students who were lost. I may be “older”, but ask friends, family & students... I’m young at heart. I’m also a drummer. I taught at a public middle school for 6 years before I voluntarily transferred to a public school for pregnant girls. Having a degree in Social Behavior with an emphasis in adolescent psychology , I wanted to not only teach, but to be a resource for the girls as well. I was then able to work at both of my passions. I moved to a new city and decided to tutor privately. My intention was not to become a business, but, due to my successes with my students and referrals, I hired other credentialed teachers as contractors. My business grew and serviced 2 counties and I had over 20 teachers contracted. I am now retired from that business. My patience is above and beyond. There are never too many questions or repeats. We work until you are comfortable working problems on your own. I have many mnemonics that I created, so you won’t find them elsewhere. Math can and should be fun. Every problem is a puzzle waiting to be solved. Let’s work on solving puzzles and making math fun.
