    About Amanda D.

I am a professional ballerina, choreographer and certified teacher. Originally from Sao Paulo, Brazil (so yes Portuguese is my native tongue!), I moved to NY at the age of 11 to train at the prestigious School of American Ballet at Lincoln Center. I then completed my training at American Ballet Theatre's JKO school before joining their company. After leaving ABT, I danced professionally in London for a year with a Royal Ballet choreographer where we toured to several international cities such as Edinbrugh and Beirut. In addition to dancing, I also have a deep passion for teaching and choreography. I have created 12 original works for the Westchester Ballet Company and choreographed and co devised two theatre dance plays for Columbia University. I have taught alongside revered international ballet stars, Irina Dvorovenko and Maxim Beloserkovsky in their summer intensive in Panama, and have been on faculty at Greenwich Ballet Conservatory, Logrea Dance Academy, Westchester Ballet Company, Pure Movement and Dance, Ace Dance Project and Align Ballet as well as a guest teacher in various other schools throughout the US and Brazil. In my class, beginners will learn fundamentals of ballet technique and there will be a key focus on alignment and developing the proper muscles to support the demands of ballet. Intermediate students will work on ensuring they have a solid base so we can grow and build on that foundation incrementally; with a heightened emphasize on technique, coordination and musicality. Advanced students will develop and refine their technique while exploring and cultivating artistry to advance them to the next chapter in their career. Regardless of your level of training or age, I am committed to creating an environment for everyone who has an interest and/or passion for this beautiful art form. You will develop characteristics that will carry on to every aspect of your life, through discipline, hard work and creativity. Hope to see you at the barre!
