Basic Math with Alyssa M.

I am a fun loving mom of one with a BA in Mathematics, who has spent the past two years teaching 9th-12th grade math in a rural high school. I will soon be changing districts and moving to teaching seventh grade. It doesn't matter the age - I just love teaching! But teaching math is not my only passion- just so there are no misconceptions, here are a few other things I love: being outdoors, anything Harry Potter, watching 'The Office', spending time with my family, cooking, and working out. Although many people are intimidated by math, I believe that everyone is a math person, if they just put their minds to it! My goal is to help my students find the mathematician in themselves while gaining a deeper understanding of the subject. My approach is not to teach students to memorize, but to understand, so that they have tools to solve any problem- even if they don't have every formula etched on the backs of their eyelids.
