History with Alexander C.

As a recent history graduate from California State University - Sacramento, I have experience with the latest research and approaches in my field through research on World War II history in the European theater. My exposure to different teaching methods at the university level makes me a perfect fit for university students seeking a fresh perspective on their assignments and projects. I have extenive knowelege in the fields of classical antiquity, ancient Rome, ancient Greece, medieval studies, Western civilization, American history, and history education K-8. I have also studied zoological science, paleontology and curation work. In addition to university-level experience, I have worked with elementary and middle school students in my current role as a Museum Educator at the Maidu Museum and Historic Site where I lead educational tours for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders in California history. I enjoy working with younger students and sparking the excitement about history that I have experienced myself throughout my educational career. Why I feel strongly about tutoring? As a third grader i was diagnosed with learning disabilities, which greatly affected my abillty to read, spell, and demonstrate mathematical skills. I was fortunate to have supportive parents who were able to provide tutoring for me on a weekly bassis as a young student and throughout highschool. This extenisve one on one learning alowed me to successfully develop the necessary skills to complete higher academic courses at the university level. I feel confident that my backround and experience dealing with learning disabilities has given me a unique perspective on how to teach students who are struggling with understanding the academic material. I am happy to help students of all ages who need assistance with their homwork or who are having problems understanding their in class lecture.
