    About Adam S.

I studied mathematics and physics at Arizona State University and have been tutoring mathematics since January 2013 (I tutored at the largest math tutoring center in the nation (ASU's) for 3 years and got a tutor of the year reward there one year). I am always ready to learn more math and share any knowledge of it with other people (in fact I enjoy doing both!). I believe the best way to learn math is to understand the underlying concepts behind mathematical problems, to understand the problem-solving techniques used to solve specific 'types' of problems, and to question why (to be curious about) certain mathematical truths are what they are. In High School, I took Geometry, Algebra, Calculus I, and Calculus II and received a 5 on the AP Calculus B/C exam. At ASU, I have taken (for math or math-related) Math for Business Analysis, Introduction to Programming in Java, Object-Oriented Programming in Java, Calculus III, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, Mathematical Structures, Discrete Mathematics, Advanced Calculus I, Introduction to Abstract Algebra, Cryptography I, Number Theory, Cryptography II, Intermediate Abstract Algebra, Engineering Statistics and Probability, Differential Geometry, Honors Microeconomics, Economics of Money and Banking, Excel and Power BI, Probability I & II, Physics I, II, & III, and Mathematical Methods for Physics II, General Relativity, and Classical & Continuum Mechanics. I'm a CRLA Certified Tutor.

edX Harvard STAT110x: Introduction to Probability

    Jun, 2020

    EdX

A comprehensive introduction to probability as a language and toolbox for understanding statistics, science, risk, and randomness. The world is replete with randomness and uncertainty; probability and statistics extends logic into this realm. In this course, you will learn ideas and tools needed to understand the data and randomness that arise in many areas of science, engineering, economics, and finance. This course aims to provide a strong foundation for future study of statistical inference, stochastic processes, machine learning, randomized algorithms, econometrics, and other subjects where probability is needed. Portions of the course material were adapted from Introduction to Probability (second edition) by Joseph K. Blitzstein and Jessica Hwang, Chapman & Hall/CRC Press (2019), ISBN 9781138369917, used with permission.
