Cameron didn’t like his lesson, he LOVED it. It was his first lesson and Phil was extremely patient. He’s looking forward to future lessons and promises to practice! Thank you, Phil, we think we have a winner that will hopefully take time away from video games.

Phil is so wonderful. After I retired I wanted to learn to play the flute, so I signed up for 30 minutes. I signed for 30 because you never know if you and the instructor are going to get along. I discovered that while I was in session I did fairly well. But once home alone, I would end up in tears. I decided to go from learning the flute to learning the clarinet. I was afraid I would have to find another teacher, but no. Phil pulled out his clarinet and I have been happy ever since! He has a calm demeanor, never talks down to you, multi-talented and encourages you. I finally had to go from 30 minutes to an hour. I found I would have about 15 minutes of questions on symbols, word meanings, etc.; which only left me 15 minutes of actual music. So this may also be something to think about.

About Matt
With most of my music students, we focus on several key areas to ensure success of overall technique and knowledge: WARM-UPs, SCALES, MUSIC THEORY, SIGHT-READING, and PREPARED SONGS. I tailor my approach and style to each student. Although I'm very detail-oriented with lessons and followup, I'm constantly in search of finding FUN ways to make sure the student is enjoying the journey. I also prefer to work on a song that the STUDENT wants to learn. It's music, and it should be fun!

Please review the rest of my profile and send me any questions or concerns you may have. If I don't think I can be the best teacher for you, I will gladly refer you to someone else on Takelessons or elsewhere.

I've been a lifelong musician, and love finding unique and fun ways to motivate my students. I've worked with most styles of music before,
and arranged music for many as well, so I'm very comfortable helping students with a variety of disciplines and interests. My professional experience in both the civilian and military music communities has given me an open-minded yet direct approach to WHAT you should learn, and HOW to develop each student's individual skills. I'm able to teach most students to an advanced level.

Matt is an exceptional musician. His knowledge of a variety of music genres, ability to sight read and transpose into any key is extraordinary and makes him the accompanist of choice. As a man of faith, he inspires others to celebrate music as a gift from God, that should never be taken for granted.

My 12 year old grandson has been playing violin since he was 5. He started playing with Nikita in August 2017. Nikita is correcting all the bad habits that have crept into RJ's playing. I can see a huge difference in his confidence as well as the quality of his playing. Nikita has been extremely patient with him and has been very flexible with his lesson times due to sports schedules. Thank you Nikita!

I took up the violin at age 52 and am beginning my 4th year. Nikita is my 3rd teacher and I have been with him for the past 4 months. First of all he is a very positive and upbeat person! He is helping me correct my body mechanics which is so important to having a good sound. He starts with the basics foundations and works with you until you achieve the goal. He has high expectations for his students and the techniques to bring about results. Every lesson you will receive lots of encouragement! I am super excited to be learning from this skilled teacher!

About Donna
After studying violin, (strings, cello), and piano in Boston, at New England Conservatory with Eric Rosenblith as well as Robert Soetens in France, I have been fortunate to enjoy nearly twenty years of teaching violin and piano students. I have earned a BS and MS degrees.

I believe all my students should enjoy music and lessons so students learn enjoyable music from the first few lessons.

For the younger students I use Music Mind Games training to enhance the lesson experience.

My professional violin experience includes performances with many orchestras including a ten-year member of the Chattanooga Symphony, Chattanooga Opera Orchestra, and the New Art Trio, Charleston Symphony, Savannah Symphony and chamber orchestras and ensembles in the Savannah, Chattanooga and Richmond areas. My experience also includes performances with R

About Nick
If you were to talk to my family, you would inevitably hear stories about how I received a First Act electric guitar starter set as my first instrument, with the intention to see if I would actually take to it. In the same breath, you would also likely hear about how, at the age of 13 I would play for 6 hours a day on average. It probably didn't do much for my social life, but it would come in handy, when 5 years later, fresh out of high school, I made contact with a small local guitar shop and subsequently made the primary point of contact for whenever inquiries came in for lessons. While I still work very closely with this shop, I have since established an independent business dedicated to a suite of guitar-related services, not limited to instruction, but also expanded to include minor repair, and maintenance services. These are skills
I now offer after having developed the ability to do so experimenting with my own instruments and refining my process to ensure a well playing guitar every time.

I consider myself lucky to be able to make guitar such a large part of my life, to the point where I am able to make a living doing so, as well as playing in a band playing original music on my downtime. As a side note, unrelated to guitar, I consider myself fairly well rounded, with other interests including lifting and PC gaming, which incidentally, the equipment I currently possess now will facilitate my ability to provide video lessons, streaming guitar info-sessions, and gear demos as well in the very near future. I am not a touring musician, and I will not try to sell you based on who I've played with, only what I know. I like to think that I can provide a learning experience from an every day perspective, that you will hopefully find relatable and enjoyable, regardless of where you are in your guitar playing.

Our son Jonathan has been taking guitar lessons from Nick for the past year and a half. It was his first time playing guitar and Nick is an excellent teacher. We can see weekly progress thanks to Nick. Nick works with him to improve his skills and to take on more challenging pieces that are outside of his comfort zone. We are very happy with Nick and would recommend him to all.

Nick has been teaching my son for the past 18 months or so. Prior to his first lesson William had never touched a guitar so everything he has learned is attributable to Nick. The progress has been off the charts! Nick motivates him to improve, practice and to take on more challenging pieces that are outside of his comfort zone. Can't say enough about Nick's approach and dedication to his students! Recommend him to all!

About Stephanie
Originally from Dallas Texas, I moved to Rexburg and graduated with an BMA in Vocal Studies and Performance along with a minor in Business Management from BYU-Idaho in the Spring of 2016. With over 12 years of private voice lessons and several years of teaching, my love and knowledge for music has grown immensely.

I LOVE teaching voice. I have worked with kids, teens and young adults from ages 5-27, including students with special needs. Over the course of our classes together, students can expect to improve their vocal techniques and skills significantly. Their knowledge of music, key terminology and theory will also increase.

During my studies, I was featured in several solo performances and roles such as Filia in Carissimi's oratorio Historia di Jephte, Agatha in scenes from the opera Der Freischutz, featured soprano soloist in M
ozart's Vesperae Solennes De Confessore (including performance of Laudate Dominum with famous pianist Alpin Hong), and many others.

My goal as your teacher will be to use my knowledge and skills to enhance your vocal talents to their peak potential. We will conquer any vocal plateau's, stage fright and confusion you may have and become a true, strong performer. I look forward to working with you!
