Students can expect to receive a firm foundation in music & guitar while becoming a better musician every day. It is vital for students to have lessons that specialize in not only guitar but also music theory. My primary goals are to make each student a great guitarist and also a well-rounded musician. I firmly believe that any student at any age can become a successful guitarist when engaged in instruction that is appropriate and motivating.

Typically a lesson begins with a quick warm up to center your focus on guitar, then we move into scales and technique, followed by working on previous repertoire and picking new repertoire. and then concluding with sight-reading.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Living room with seating for parents.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I ask my students to purchase any instruments or method books.

David is a wonderful teacher who makes learning to play music interesting. He seems to focus on his student's progress and lead them in the right direction. I am a current classical guitar student of his and he has helped me to prepare various pieces and scales for my upcoming college audition. I would highly recommend David to anyone who wants to learn to play the guitar as he is very patient and a very skilled guitarist and teacher!

Antonella has been teaching piano to my two daughters (ages 8 and 12) for a number of years now. They have progressed terrifically during that time and really enjoy learning from her. She has a gentle approach but also keeps the girls focused and accountable which is important. They have had multiple opportunities to perform in recitals and competitions that are always enjoyable as well. Antonella is a excellent teacher that I would highly recommend.

My 7 year old daughter started taking piano lessons this year with Antonella. I am amazed that within such a short period of time she has learned so much. She has progressed from 'Mary had a little Lamb' to really beautiful more complex pieces in what seems like no time.
Antonella is a really excellent teacher, very patient and supportive, yet constantly pushing (gently) to make the student better. She is an incredible pianist herself and really encourages Aoife not just to learn and play the notes, but to really use good movement and techniques which make such a difference to the sound of the piece.
Antonella is professional, committed, highly skilled and very passionate about what she does. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending her as an amazing piano teacher.

Lena is a very gifted teacher and I recommend her without reservation for both child and adult learners. Her greatest strength is her learner-centered instruction.

You can rely on Lena to turn up on time, be prepared with lesson hand-outs tailored to your needs, make lesson time fun, provide age- and skill- appropriate instruction and be kind, patient, and encouraging.

Lena is reliable, flexible with lesson scheduling and easy to contact when needed. Her knowledge of music theory is impressive as is her understanding of the physics of music production. She is also an excellent clarinetist.

How to Sing and Play Ukulele at the Same Time in 4 Easy Steps

Learning to play an instrument is difficult enough, but what about trying to sing at the same time? It's really not as hard as it sounds! It doesn’t matter what instrument I teach (piano, guitar, harmonica, drums, banjo, mandolin, ukulele, and voice), every student I ever have, with the exception of those playing harmonica, asks, “How do I sing and play my instrument at the same time?” The ukulele i … Read More

How to Measure the Success of Your Child’s Piano Lessons
Piano lessons for kids are an investment -- so how do you know your investment is worthwhile? Here are some tips for checking in and making sure your child is learning piano at the right pace, courtesy of Brooklyn, NY teacher Liz T...   If your child has recently started taking private lessons, there are certain benchmarks you can follow to assess musical progress as he or she is learning piano. Many parents are unaware of how to track and measure their child's musical abilities.
5 Maintenance Tips for Violin Bows
All musical instruments require attention and maintenance. When it comes to the violin, however, it is easy to forget that the bow needs as much care as the instrument itself. After all, the way you treat your violin bows will affect the way the violin sounds. If too much resin builds up on the hairs, for example, the sound will come out wrong. While it may not be as costly to repair or replace violin bows, why waste money when it’s easy to keep your violin bows in good working condition? B
Should Parents Observe During Voice Lessons?
Should you sit in on your kid's singing lessons? Here, Hayward, CA teacher Molly R. tackles the commonly asked question...   When parents sign their child up for voice lessons, naturally they want to be sure of a few key things: Does the teacher know what he or she is doing? Is the teacher a good match for my child? Is my child making progress? One of the easiest ways to be sure of all this is to observe a lesson and see for yourself, of course. However, this may not
