I have been teaching private lessons to students aged 8 to 65 for several years. Tailoring the lessons to reach the your goals, we can explore areas such as learning your favorite songs, writing your own, while forming a solid basis of musical knowledge, and the tools you will need to grow into a capable and fluent musician.

From my experiences in independent bands, I can also offer consultations and advice on soliciting endorsements, creating press kits, writing press releases, and other ways to promote your album.

It is my goal to help students learn the basics of guitar, ear training, and theory to be able to play their favorite songs. I focus on learning chords, scales, picking patterns, and strumming patterns. The Blues, the Beatles, Joni Mitchel, Motown, and Rock and Roll are genres/musicians I often explore in the first few lessons. We learn the theory needed to play music from these styles, and then move on to songs that the student particularly likes. As we progress, we would begin talking about a wider variety of chords, and working on speed and dexterity based on each student's individual needs.

I began playing guitar in 7th grade, and it helped me to express myself when I went through a period of time of feeling too shy to sing. I studied guitar, starting writing on guitar, and still write music on guitar now. It truly is a special instrument!

With her patient understanding and calm presence, Crystal Rose is a very engaging and positive music teacher. What originally started out as guitar lessons has grown into a deeper exploration of music through voice lessons and songwriting. I fully credit this expansion of both my guitar playing technique and my musical creativity to her skills as a teacher. After each lesson I feel inspired and excited to keep practicing what I have learned as it carries me over into my week. I am so happy to have found her and highly recommend Crystal Rose as a music teacher.

I so appreciated my first Lesson with Nick! We had planned to meet in person, but because of the current quarantine had to have class online - and it was wonderful! He was encouraging and clear and was able to diagnose some of my bad habits and give me ways to get past them. He also generously shared resources and repertoire. I'm much looking forward to continuing with him - just what I needed both musically and to keep my spirits up!

"Nick Russo sparked a love for music in me that I had once thought lost. I was hesitant to re-learn the guitar after years of playing aimlessly, but Nick has guided me and inspired me throughout the whole process. He is incredibly patient and understanding with me, even when I don't practice as much as I should. His knowledge of stringed instruments and music from Metallica to Carcassi is incredible. In our lessons, he blends everything that he has learned over his many years of education and performance to teach me a holistic view of music that has changed the way I look at the instrument. If you want to learn how to play an instrument or become a better musician, no matter your age, there is no better person to guide you than Nick Russo. Trust me, pick Nick!"

"Michael is an exceptionaly talented musician, as well as a wonderful mentor who has taught so many students and enriched their lives. He has students with only 2 yrs of experience who sound as if they have been playing for 20 years! What a Role Model!!! With a lifetime of experience under his belt, Michael has mastered music and recording. He will help you; It really doesn't get any better than that. I am a reporter for a good paper. I wrote this about Michael after an interview. Michael and his band had the placed packed, all ages, and everyone insisted on being as close to the music as humanly possible. Michael works as a guitar instructor and runs several studios. Michael is truly a "gifted guitar player" and his vocals are just as nice and polished. The Next time this gifted musician and band rolls into town check him out."

"I can honestly say that I've never progressed with guitar as quite as rapidly as when I've been working with Bob. Put in the practice, and you WILL get better, both in technique and theory. These rigorous, drill-driven programs definitely lead to mastery of the material, and an improved command of the instrument however you decide to use it."

He's helped me to fix some really bad habits from never taking lessons before and helping my wife who's never played at all. He knows when to push us to try something a little more complicated but can sense when we're getting overwhelmed and need to take a break and play something fun and just rock out. I would highly recommend him as we look forward to each week. Stacey is as passionate in his teaching as he is playing live..."

Guitar Playing Tips | Eliminating Bad Habits & Reducing Injury

As far as guitar playing tips go, understanding proper form should be at the top of the list! Here, North Wales, PA guitar teacher Nathan D. shares the basics...   As a multi-instrumental musician, I am constantly checking my form to prevent strain or injury. Hours of improperly played guitar, piano, violin, and even clarinet can make one's fingers and elbows throb, and the impact of playing drums too hard with poor form can cause major injury to wrists all the way to your shoulders. …
