As a teacher I am very patient with students and enjoy helping them reach their own musical goals. I emphasize knowing the basics and encourage students to study music theory and basic reading of standard notation. I always ask my students to bring in songs they want to learn as a way to motivate them to practice more.
*** Lesson Details ***
GUITAR: I expect my students to practice at least 5 days a week for at least a 1/2 hour per day. I use the Suzuki method for young students ages 8 to10. We continue learning basic folk songs by ear and then start reading standard notation and basic theory within 6 to 8 months along with classical guitar duets. For older students I use the Hal Leonard guitar method. After 3 months of lessons students can expect to know the basic open position chords and strum patterns to some basic songs as well as some famous guitar riffs and also be able to read some basic melodies in standard notation. After 6 months students will be able to play a 12 bar ...

I take what I’ve learned from classrooms and stages across the United States and give you the fast track. Although I have a large library of songbooks and theory books, I also have perfect pitch, a skill that allows me to write down the notes as I listen to a song for the first time. This allows us to start playing your requests right away.
About Owen
My father was a professional guitarist. I grew up with the sounds of music in my house. I credit this environment for helping me understand music in a way that would be near impossible if I had any other way. I hold a bachelors degree in music performance from the University of Southern Maine. I

About Kevin
I truly enjoy teaching. I've taught in the public school classroom for 11 years. Teaching music is so so much FUN! And it should be fun for the students to learn. When I'm teaching I tell all my students that if they don't enjoy and smile about something, then we need to change something.

Raymond has taken his time with my daughter Paige who is 14 and is very patient with her. He will let her know where she is slacking and also what she is doing okay. For a beginer,Paige has come a long way on only 6 lessons. Raymond has nerves of steel because I know what its like dealing with teenagers. We thank you for all of your hard work and hospitality.
