As a devoted instructor, I have a passion for teaching students of all levels. I use knowledge I learned from my flute professors and create a teaching style based on each of my students' individual needs. I value the student being able to create their own ideas and suggestions.
I cover topics from developing proper form to producing a beautiful tone, creating own musical ideas, performing with self-confidence, developing a helpful warm-up, and preparing for an audition.
About Sarah

I had years of serious music study with critical music teachers who made me embarrassed about mistakes and dread my lessons. With Sarah, the learning is fun and I now look forward to every lesson.

I think the flute can produce such beautiful and colorful sounds and is a tool for great expression. Therefore, in lessons, covering all the basics of proper tone production, breath support, vibrato, musicality and technique will ensure a solid foundation with which even the highest levels of success can be built upon. I teach these concepts through the use of various exercises, etude/method books, as well as duet books which are incredibly essential for musical development and are also fun!

Ten years of experience teaching flute, piccolo, and music theory to beginner, intermediate-advanced school age, early college and adult students. My primary goal is to pass on an appreciation and joy for music making to my students. Communication, respect and positivity are important elements present in all of my lessons. I devote time to expanding and stabilizing fundamental skills, as well as learning and experimenting with new techniques. I enjoy challenging my students with new repertoire regularly in order to keep them interested and engaged. I also make sure students always have access to "fun" songs, or pieces they want to play. I strongly believe music lessons should be a growing experience for students at all levels, and tailor each student's lessons to their individual goals.
About Erin
I am currently finishing up my Masters of Music degree at DePaul University in Chicago, where I study flute performance with the principal flutist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. I previously completed my Bachelor of Music from the Aaron Copland School of Music in New York City. I am originally

as an adult learner i had some trepidation about taking flute lessons again. however, it is so good to be taught by amy, she breaks down music and offers a manageable script. i was a better flutist after my first lesson and continue to improve.
i love the setting in her home. it is a warm inviting space that puts me at ease.
in her instructions she is always clear and patient. she is professional in her home even with her family near.
