Using the classic European Atelier Style of teaching, I start all students with basic drawing, tone and color theory before embarking on either water color or oil painting. This is to ensure that the students have a solid foundation upon which to apply color to achieve the desire d effects. No amount of pretty color will make up for a poorly constructed work. Students learn to create dimensional illusions by understanding the principles of perspective, light and dark and various techniques.

About Patricia
As a child I watched from the doorway as my older sister took her piano lessons. From that experience I taught myself to play the piano. My formal training came in college where I received my BA in Applied Music in piano and voice. I studied classical music and opera from a visiting professor from Peabody Conservatory, Baltimore MD. I graduated with honors and gave my Town Hall performance in the Spring of my Senior year. I had a passionate desire to be involved in music, to hear it and to perform it. I spent several years singing with the San Diego Opera Company, performing lead roles in Musical Theater and soloing in concerts from Monterrey to San Diego, CA. While still a student in college, I taught piano to children from the local community, so I have accumulated decades of teaching experience. Nothing brings me greater pleasure than
to see individuals "blossom" into their creative selves. Whether it is for a student's own enjoyment, audition preparation, recital performance or ongoing piano or voice development, I am committed to engaging you in an experience of learning and fun. It may be the biggest thrill of your lifetime!

*** Lesson Details ***
I love to have fun. For me, learning is a great source of fun. My goal is to make the process of your learning music fun while effective. I do have high standards for participation. I do not ask anything of you that I haven't done myself. I know, from many years of experience in performing and teaching, what it takes to make progress in a learning curve, Are you excited? Are you dedicated? Are you willing to jump in and get busy? I will give you the foundation of theory and technique to support your performance. I will expand your understanding and appreciation for music in its many styles and formats. No every other week or schedule as you go lessons, please.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Living room - Steinway piano, cathedral ceilings ... good acoustics.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Must have piano or quality keyboard. I definitely prefer piano.

*** Specialties ***
I was trained classically in both piano and voice, but spent many years in musical theater and singing in supper clubs, as well. I am capable of teaching most styles of piano and voice except rock and rap.

i recently came out of an audition and I sang my musical pieces better than I've ever done them before! The auditioner sat me down at the end and said he loves my voice. He said, based on how much he liked my pieces and how well I did that he would like to extend an early invitation for callbacks for the program! I really have Patricia to thank for that. She has helped me improve my voice by leaps and bounds in the time that i have been working with her and its amazing to get such immediate and rewarding results. I CAN NOT THANK PATRICIA ENOUGH! SHE COULD NOT HAVE PREPARED ME ANY BETTER AND IM SO GRATEFUL THAT I GET TO WORK WITH HER!!

She is great! It will be my 5th lesson with her tomorrow, but she has already gave me confidence in singing (at least I can get my voice out more than before without shame), being patient with me, very informative, and gives great advises.
I originally took her lesson because I had an audition for Christmas Carol, and I wanted to at least go over the song I was going to use. Instead, she gave me another song to sing for the audition. I have never been able to get in a show where singing is the main dish; however, after her advise with the new song, I was thrilled to see an email from the casting director when I was chosen to be in the show! I can never thank enough her for this. :D

Depends on the student's level, teaches only 13+

About Manhei
Lessons will be divided into three parts:

1.First a brief introduction to some basic elements in the language of drawing and painting on the pictorial plane
Including perception, color theories, perspective and pictorial design.
2.The second part of the lessons is practice, where the fun begins! Students apply what they learn into and develop their own practice.
3.Once the student is comfortable with the lessons introduced hitherto, he or she will be encouraged to develop his or her own voice, narrative and artistic vision.

. Nothing is more satisfying than hearing my students going home with new pieces of knowledge that he or she is unaware of before. Maybe a new idea, a new way of thinking, new perspective at perceiving.
.I had never ceased to be amazed by the creativity of my students as every single one of them is also my t
eacher.
. I should try my very best effort to live up to the standards and ideal I have set for myself.

Manhei and I have been colleagues for the longest time and he is by far one of the most exceptionally skilled artists that I have had the fortune to know. Both in his philosophical approach to teaching and his own art. He is very patient and will help you build your skill level in the arts to new heights. Definitely take this opportunity to study with him before he gets too expensive.

My approach to painting is one that starts with understanding the basic foundation! Starting from the bottom and working our way up, covering all aspects. I encourage the students to look at their work constructively and help train their eye to see their work from multiple perpectives. We will go through the basic elements to create a form in space, through color, line, texture, composition, medium manipulation, and so on. Once the foundation is established the vision can truly come alive!

I have worked with children as young as three and young adults up through high school in an array of media, including tempera, acrylic, gouache, and oil paint in subjects from figure modeling and cityscapes to abstract painting, illustration, and murals. I emphasize using one's own style and vision and introduce techniques as they are requested either verbally or through careful study of my students' process.

About Alexander
My current teaching focus is helping to enable young people to develop confidence, self-direction and self-reliance in their life's work by unleashing their creativity in various subjects while offering them new skills and techniques.

I have been enthusiastically teaching for over twenty-five years, generally in the fields of fine art and web development. Previously, I founded an alternative K-12 school in New Jersey, co-founded a Brooklyn based summer camp, and most recently, co-founded play:groundNYC, a junkyard playground for children on Governors Island in New York City, where children are self-directed in their play with an array of junk materials for uninhibited play and discovery.

I am a certified New York State art teacher, have taught K-12, college, graduate, and continuing education. I have a Masters in Fine Art from Pars
ons School of Design, The New School University and a Bachelors of Arts from Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University.

Alex is kind and patient. He is always well prepared, explains things clearly and makes an effort to come up with new activities. We're glad we found a teacher so close to home and we feel lucky. My daughter looks forward to every class. Sometimes Alex's sons join the lesson. They are lovely - my daughter really enjoys their company and I'm glad that she has both individual instruction as well as the chance to work with his kids.

I began drawing in three dimensions at the age of two (it was a stuffed panda bear doll if you must know). I am a keenly visual person, and began winning awards in art in elementary school, and eventually went on to become student artist of the year in New York state while a sophomore in high school. That same year I had a show in a gallery in Manhattan. The following year I made my own short animated film and was hired by a private academy to do all their creative print marketing. My approach to teaching art is similar to my approach to teaching communication. Sometimes art is about telling a story. Often it can be about making a point (even if that point is just about beauty or dysfunction, or beauty in dysfunction). But whatever its purpose, art is *always* about seeing, with more than your eyes. The best forms of art capture and captivate all of who we are and how we perceive, whether we’re talking pencil sketches or making movies. While I teach lots of different styles,

About Mark
My greatest passion is teaching. I love to help people learn and grow. My teaching style is always personalized to the learning style of my students, with a focus on helping them to experience lots of those epiphany/discovery moments (when the lightbulb goes on and knowledge becomes understanding) that deepen their own appetite to learn.

Although I have a degree from M.I.T., I’m far from your typical M.I.T. grad. I’ve been a news anchor, a radio disc jockey, a missionary, a pastor, a corporate trainer, a consultant, an executive officer, and a business entrepreneur. I would love to share as many of my experiences as can help you in your particular subject of interest.

Regarding Speech and Public Speaking, I've been a public speaker, teacher, and presenter to groups of three to three thousand for over twenty years, and have coach
ed students from five to sixty-five in how to confidently connect with people in a broad range of contexts, from very private to frighteningly public. But my lessons are about much more than saying the right things in front of people. Life is about relationships and all relationships start (and sadly often fail) with communication. Being a great conversationalist, story teller, or compelling public speaker is all about connecting with your audience, whether with one or one thousand. My goal is to help you learn to confidently listen, express yourself, and connect at a heart level. In our times together you'll learn things like:

• Organizing your thoughts in a way that resonates with your listeners
• Actively engaging with people and not just transferring information
• Turning fear and timidity into powerful tools for connecting
• Cultivating approachability and confidence with your audience

Regarding Math, some people are naturally good at math and some are like deer in the headlights. Studying Physics, Engineering, and Architecture at M.I.T. meant learning and doing *lots* of math. I find the greatest delight helping those who aren’t naturally good at math learn to appreciate and conquer it in the context of their regular, day to day lives. My greatest accomplishment in this respect has been teaching one of my daughters who hates math to embrace it as a wonderful, dependable, and mysterious, faith-building part of life. My approach is to make math real, that is, to connect math to life so that not just how to do it, but why doing it, is valuable and makes sense.

Regarding Art, I began drawing in three dimensions at the age of two (it was a stuffed panda bear doll if you must know). While I teach lots of different styles, techniques, and media (including pencil, pen and ink, charcoal, pastels, watercolors, acrylic and oil painting, graphic design, and print forms, among others), this fundamental how you perceive approach to the creative process is what I strive to teach when I teach art.

Regarding the Bible, I have been an exhaustive student and teacher of the Bible for 32 years and would welcome the opportunity to help you either learn it, teach it, or both (which is what often happens). Nothing that I have taught in my life is as important as the truths and life lessons I have learned and taught from its pages. It is scary and funny and crazy and tender (among many things) but most of all it is more than what most of us have heard (especially in church), and it will change us if we let it. Our studies would include language, history, culture, geography, and even science, combined with lots of thought provoking questions, and creative insight. We won’t shy away from the difficult topics that often cause doubt or division, but we will certainly avoid the canned, off-the-shelf answers that do more harm than good in helping people digest this book. This is not a safe class. If you already think you have a pretty good handle on the Bible, then this class is probably not for you. But if, like me, something about the profession and practice of Christianity around you seems terribly off, or missing, then this may be exactly what you’re looking for. Expect that much of what you thought or believed (but perhaps never really read or studied) will likely be challenged. This is not an academic study, but rather an upfront and personal interaction with The Truth.

First off, I am absolutely terrible at all things math related.
As in, two plus two equals five, sort of bad. Okay, maybe not that bad, but still... ;-) Mark helped make math easy and understandable for me, in a way that textbooks or even lectures (regardless of how "good" they might be) can't. Many people have head knowledge, and are labeled as a teacher because of their textbook understanding, but the real test for a good teacher is how to transfer that head knowledge to another person in an easy, understandable and fun way. Mark does all that and I believe more in everything he teaches. He has mastered how to reach every person on the level they're at and explain not only what they are trying to learn, but also the "why" behind it.

He is not just a one trick pony either. I've heard him speak on many occasions, and each time, regardless of what he's speaking about he sounds deeply passionate and thoughtful.

I also enjoy acting, (not necessarily as a career, but I have done a few productions here and there) and often times a character I will be representing will need an accent to distinguish it. Mark can pick up just about any accent and guide you into mastering it. The longest it has taken me to learn at least the basics of an accent under his guidance, has been two days. Now that doesn't mean everyone will have a perfectly mastered accent in that same time, but it does say something about his abilities as a teacher.

All this to say, I believe one of the best qualities of a truly great teacher is the ability to be a student, and be humble enough to learn themselves. I think the proof of this quality is very evident in Mark's varied abilities, and I would highly recommend him to many.

Mark has been my instructor for many years in a variety of subjects. He has a gift for helping people to not just have head knowledge, but practical, every day, what he would call heart knowledge. He is more than a teacher and his influence on who I am is greater than the lessons he taught me. It is important to him that one sees the big picture, even if it isn't always what we'd like it to be. He is passionate about using the talents God has given him to serve others. He explores the Scriptures diligently, as well as very thoroughly. It is more than a gift but I believe it is a huge purpose of his life to help others come to a more full knowledge of God and the relationship He desires to have with us.

I have also taken lessons from him in all of the other subjects he teaches and have found the same fundamental principles of his instruction methods/style to hold true. He loves to help people to really understand what they are learning in an applicable way. He knows how to adapt to his students' needs for optimal learning and growth. From visuals to stories and examples he always finds a way to make each lesson not only memorable but fun. I would highly recommend him as an instructor in any one of the lessons he offers.

I first met Mark over 20 years ago when he was a missionary in eastern Europe. We worked together on the mission field and I had opportunity to see first hand that he is indeed a man of many talents. Though Mark's primary job overseas was to teach and preach the Bible, I quickly realized that I had never before come across an individual with such talent and gifts in such a wide range of subjects. Mark is a true Renaissance man. Though he studied astrophysics at one of the world's most prestigious universities, namely MIT, he is also an incredibly gifted artist. He can paint, draw and write beautiful poetry just as easily as he can preach and teach powerfully and persuasively. He breaks any subject down into digestible parts, making it easy to understand. He is fun to listen to and learn from as he shares lots of stories and anecdotes that bring to life whatever subject he is teaching. And it never ceases to amaze me that he is equally gifted in math, which is my weakest subject and one I have greatly feared and avoided for the better part of my life. Yet when explaining any mathematical problem, he makes it seem so easy and doable. Mark is extremely intelligent and a quick learner and is able to master whatever subjects interest him. But it is his ability and passion to transfer his knowledge and skills to others in a fun and memorable way that is his greatest gift.

Visual Art is another dimension, another reality. It can be true or invention. It can be poetic or logical. Is where you learn to recreate and express it to others.

I encourage people to develop their own art technique. I can provide courses and tutoring all levels of development. Starting from the Art fundamentals for the more advance sense to advance composition and creation. I always consider carefully what are the interests and goals of my students to develop a custom course for them. I have a Bachelor Degree in Visual Arts from the University of Puerto Rico and a Master Degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage, from Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain.

My course can range from traditional drawing methods, to experimental painting technique. I can flourish the course with cool art history facts.

I think is the most important part in the painting class is to know where do you want to head up. And then, lets go!

About Gabriela
I started the Art carer when I was 8 years old! I started drawing cartoons and fine art work masterpieces because I love it and I could understand it. I actively took a variety of workshop being a teen age to adulthood.

In 2010 I graduated from University of Puerto Rico from the Fine Art Department with the opportunity to do an Art in Residence in my last graduating year. Luckily to me I started running a professional workshop since this times. Under this program we got the amazing opportunity to go as far as our creativity allows. There were no limits, from sculpture, to paintings, to installations, to drawings.

After graduation I continue studies research in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage in the Polytechnic University of Spain. Studding abroad, I got the opportunity to meet international perspectives on the Arts
. Historical research and the chemistry of art supplies where my new deed. I got involve in multiple antiques preservation projects under the direction of multiple professionals of the field in Spain, San Francisco, and New York.

I started teaching professionally in 2013, after my Master's was accomplished. I have being working with people all ages. Mostly I do free lance adult courses and during day time, I teach children ages 9 to 11 at school art education programs. At the present moment I live in New York. I run 2 painting workshops and work part time at Split Level Gallery. I keep myself pretty active on the arts, always with a very positive perspective.

If is good, is possible!

About Zoe
Zoe began her career as an artist at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL. Bent on pursuing her career, she returned to Ohio to achieve her art Degree. Eventually, she found her way to Los Angeles, working in the dark side of Hollywood, as a storyboard and concept artist in indie horror on such films as the “Hatchet” movie series and “The Collector.” A diverse artist, Zoe spent 8 years designing collectibles and creating original souvenirs for such notable clients as Disney, Hard Rock Cafe and Sea World. She finds a strange balance between making cute Disney characters by day and planning out slashing people to bits by night.

Zoe has always been an innovator of process and assisting peers, colleges and clients in more efficient ways to create art. Not your typical shy artist, she has been a regular of sci-fi, comic and similar circuit conv
entions as a panelist and fun teacher of acrylics for a Friday night Paint and Wine. Currently, she has returned home to SoCal and building new and exciting ventures in the art world.

She uses Illustrator and Photoshop nearly every day for the past 13 years along with her lifetime of skills as a traditional artist to accomplish a WIDE variety of tasks from more artistic to technical layouts.

...and you will have fun!

I believe every individual no matter the age, experience, or inherent ability can learn to draw, paint, and sculpt! I can teach any artistic style, whether it be portraiture, wildlife, landscapes, anime, abstract, or mixed media.

Lessons are structured by meeting a student’s goal while building a strong foundation in the medium of preference while familiarizing one’s self with the elements of art, principle of design, and the color theory.

Students will have simple step-by-step instructions that break an image down into basic lines, shapes, and layers coupled with visual examples. You will have a project during our in-pe
rson or online sessions together followed by an assignment or goal to achieve before our next session. Children will focus on solidifying their artistic strengths while learning artistic techniques in every aspect of art. I will tailor the teachings to the student's area(s) of interest that strengthen their artistic style with visual art tools, especially for children and teens. Adults will rekindle their passion for art by revisiting the foundations of art.

I look forward to unlocking your or your child’s creative potential and strengthening existing talent with artistic techniques!

*Caution: If you or your child has cat allergies, I own a cat. Depending on the severity of your allergies, I am flexible to confining the cat during our in-person lesson.

I've observed Elissa teaching and she is wonderfully compassionate, patient, and warm with children. She's also incredibly passionate and talented about art and has an excellent way of helping children unlock their creative potential. Her teaching style is loving while balanced with great expectations. She is very professional and as an educator and parent myself, I wholeheartedly recommend her.
