We are a husband and wife piano teaching team that enjoy seeing children grow as they expand their musical skill set. We are firm believers of learning the fundamentals. We teach all ages and levels, and want our students to be having fun!

And if your piano needs a tuning, we do that too!

It is great getting a student to think and analyze the task at hand. It might seem too hard at first, but I will walk the student through the process of figuring out how to play a piece. Learning music gives you a lot of skills applicable to everyday life.

I've been playing piano for over 25 years and teaching piano for over 10. I use a wide variety of piano methods to fit the individual needs of all my students. Students will learn how to properly care for their instrument, how to read music, music theory, instrument technique, practice techniques, ear training (how to play by ear), and repertoire. I even have my own experimental piano courses that I have developed myself. Group piano lessons are also available at a lower cost on Saturdays only.

About Kyle

Hello potential students! I have a B.A. in instrumental music education and composition. I have taught private lessons for over 12 years. Kyle is a great piano teacher! He is very patient with my 12-year old son. Just yesterday he referred to him as “fun Kyle” because he teaches him small songs on the side that he can show friends and family or are for upcoming holidays. He’s always punctual and respectful of our family and home. I’m grateful to have found him!

Number one is we always have fun, though we do a lot of hard work too! Lessons are split between technical/theoretical music study, and live performance practice. Emphasis is on gaining skills in coordination and dexterity, understanding the theory behind compositions, and finding individual expression with each piece. Technique exercises follow the Dozen A Day series; Lessons, Sight-Reading, and Theory from Faber & Faber; skills are applied to a performance song of the students' choosing. Students generally select a song at their level in either Classical, Jazz or Contemporary style. All students are required to practice at least 5 mins a day, every day. Each performance piece is later performed live in concert.

About Jameson

Jameson is a recording artist, songwriter and producer. He is a graduate from the University of Oregon, and holds a BA in Theater Arts, Music and Business. As a vocalist, Jameson sings regularly in a wide variety of styles. He has studied the Alexander Method, Body Mapping, Singing by Speaki

I use a unique color coded method to teach theory and technique. I can bring anyone to the pro level in under a year.

About Richard

I can take any student to the pro level within a year with my unique color-coded methods. I was educated at Interlochen Arts Academy, near Traverse City, Michigan. By teaching how to train your hands to just learn to play instead of mountains of memorizing, Richard is able to teach absolute beginners to play complex scales, melodies and songs in no time (if you put the practice in, of course!).

Many piano teachers love the complexity of theory, reading music, and heaps of complicated techniques. Richard makes it easy and simple, focusing on kinesthetic memory--getting your hands trained with muscle memory rather than thinking about the scale, chord, etc.

The theory he does teach is all colour-based and highly intuitive. No more counting lines on a stave of sheet music!

While his background is stronger in jazz and blues, he was able to give me a TON of useful compositional techniques for rock and classical as well.

I went from a non piano player to proficient in about 6 weeks. 15 weeks in, I'm a better piano player than one of my lifelong friends. And all without the pain in the ^%$@ of reading sheet music.

Thank you Richard, and to anyone considering him, I would strongly recommend!
Vicky

"I took private piano lessons with Alex for three years. Hands down, Alex was the best teacher I've had. Alex has a knack for teaching. She provided very targeted and detailed feedback on my techniques and taught me how to improve in a very precise way so that I was able to focus on my weaknesses. Alex was the kindest teacher one could possibly imagine. She always delivered her comments in a very accessible manner and made me feel very comfortable and believed that I could improve. I came a long way in the three years under her and I miss her lessons so much! I would recommend Alex to anyone who is interested in learning how to play the piano."
