Susan R.

Camp Hill, PA

About Susan

I have over six years of teaching piano to children and adults, from beginner to intermediate levels. I also have over eight semesters of piano, as well as a minor in music. I occasionally play the piano for special music in church. I use what ever method I find suitable to the student. I also occasionally allow the student to pick his or her own music. For children, particularly younger ones, I use different things for incentives, such as stickers and lollipops. I worked in daycare for twenty two years, so I have experience with children from ages three to twelve.

Harrisburg, PA

About Gary

I love the piano and I am always excited at the prospect of sharing my passion for the instrument with those; young and old who are eager to explore this unique instrument for themselves. From the time I began taking lessons in the 3rd grade and now into my post retirement years, I have been an active player. My experience includes playing in jazz bands, choirs, supper clubs, special occasions, accompaniment for vocalists; playing and directing worship bands for traditional and contemporary worship services in gospel as well as contemporary Christian genres. My commitment to the piano has led me to adapt a lifestyle of study and practice that has given me the proficiency as well as the knowledge of theory to adapt to many different musical environments. I am currently part of the ...

Mr. Banks is wonderful! My daughter Jordyn really enjoys coming to piano lessons. She's learned so much in a few short months. She is really motivated to continuously improve and I never have to remind her to practice.

Amber R.

Carlisle, PA

About Amber

I began taking piano lessons at a young age and continued with them through my freshman year of college. I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and five years of experience teaching private piano lessons. My degree and experience with elementary aged children have prepared me to be able to tailor lessons to my students' individual needs, explain concepts in creative ways, and adjust the pace of lessons as needed. Playing piano is something that I really enjoy, so I love having the opportunity to give students the skills they need to enjoy it, too! *** Lesson Details *** I try to create a learning environment that's fun and laid back while still maintaining reasonable expectations for my students. I love seeing my students succeed, so I do my best to give them all the tools

Music Criticism: How To Handle a Critical Audience
Years ago, I heard my first band would be featured in the local paper and I was so excited to read the article. I hurried home to read it and found that the short blurb was far from complimentary. A public critique like that can make you want to give up. I certainly wanted to hide under my bed for a week! However, I have learned how to handle criticism and continued to make music that makes me happy. In the time since then, I have been lucky enough to receive both criticism and positive revie
The Little-Known Difficulties Of Playing 'Beginner' Guitars
If you're in the market for a guitar, you've likely seen "beginner" models and packages offered. But are they worth it? Do Singers Need Metronomes?
As a vocalist, should you practice singing with a metronome at your side? Read on for St. Augustine, FL teacher Heather L.'s advice...    Metronomes are devices that produce sounds in regular, pre-chosen rhythms. Many years ago, the only metronomes were simple gadgets. Though the first one that's even similar to what we now think of as a "modern" metronome was invented in the 19th century, the kind that most adults are familiar with is a mechanical, wind-up metronome. It makes a s
