Experienced in teaching ukulele for over 5 years. Experienced in teaching other stringed instruments (guitar, bass, mandolin) for over 30 years.

About Geoff

I played on a toy piano when I was very young, learning a bit of sight reading from my Mother, while listening to classical, jazz, and rock music. When I was 12, I learned guitar and later took private piano lessons from a prominent Philadelphia instructor. After playing in a rock band in high sc

I totally enjoyed my class with Geoff. We immediately started my lesson with tuning the ukulele. Then we went over the cords and strumming. I have been researching on playing the ukulele and his explanation on the strumming was a lot better than the book. He is teaching me how to play by listening to the notes which is great because I would be able to play the Hawaiian music for my hula classes. In addition, his studio is only a 5 minute drive from my house, which means I don’t have to deal with traffic.

I combine the styles of music that you prefer with some kind of method book for reading and theory. No purchasing of music is required. Normal lessons start with the previously assigned material, determining what we need to work on, new material, and ending with things to do at home.

Sean was a great teacher. I asked him if he knew how to teach Bollywood style Violin and even though he didn't he took the time to study it and learn just to teach me. I really appreciate that he was so open to trying so hard for his students. I think Sean is great!
Marc T.
Great first lesson. High hopes for follow lessons.

I self-taught myself guitar over 35 years ago; mostly forgotten. Sean began with establishing goals that would meet my goals. The feedback to me during the lessons was focused and delivered in a friendly manner. Progression was enhanced due to his manner and his approach to teaching. While this was the first lesson, I am looking forward to future lessons.

For some, ukulele is a gateway to guitar, for others it's a way of life. I believe both of these things can be true. Ukulele offers students a great foundation for learning a string instrument or music in general. The possibilities with this instrument, as it continues to grow in popularity, are endless.

Lessons with me will cover anything and everything from basic chord shapes and strumming patterns, to single note techniques, scales, improvising, song tabs, chord charts, song writing, jamming with friends, and playing by ear.

Learn a song, learn a chord learn a strumming pattern

I work with the student to develop a curriculum based on their musical interests and my own teaching pedagogy. I strongly feel that for musicians to own their education, they must have a say in what they play. Assigning method books and mindless etudes to practice doesn't have nearly the same effect asking them "Ok, what kind of music do YOU like? What do you want to PLAY? What do you want to LEARN?".

I believe that students learn best when they are invested in a subject, and the best way to get them invested is to individually get to know each one, speak to them on their level, and get them playing music they're interested in.

About Jon

I'm a professional performer, educator, and recording artist. I received my Masters in Music from New Mexico State University, and my BA and BME from the College of Wooster in Ohio. Students can expect to improve their technique and performing repertoire within a matter of weeks. We will collabo

"Teresa is an excellent music teacher!
My daughter received a ukulele as a gift from her grandparents. My husband and I wanted her to take lessons, but we were hesitant. She had taken music lessons previously, with a different instructor, with little success and mostly frustration. But then we found Teresa.......
Teresa took the time to learn about my daughter's strengths and weaknesses, and planned her lessons accordingly. She utilizes several different teaching modalities into her lessons (visual, auditory, kinesthetic) with amazing results. Teresa is a truly dedicated teacher who is both knowledgeable and passionate about what she does. My daughter looks forward to each lesson!"

"We were new to the whole online, private lesson world and only tried as a test for our 10 yr-old son. He has now been working with Jason for several months now and shows no signs of stopping. Our son is progressing, has gained confidence and still seems to have fun. Jason is on time and if you cannot make a lesson he is flexible in rescheduling if given some notice. Finally, I would be remiss if I didn't mention how much Jason packs into his lessons without overwhelming the student. We highly recommend him!"
