Quite a good first lesson. The time went by too quickly. Nikita was patient yet I know that in the 30 minutes I had I made progress. Looking forward to next time!

Nikita is an incredible teacher. He has taught me so much about control, elevating my playing greatly. He will always have more ways for you to improve, as he is very particular, yet he will continually make you excited about the violin and love what you are doing. Being under the instruction of Nikita has prepared me for college and has brought me closer to my future life as a musician. I would recommend him as a teacher to ANYBODY.

About Dennis
I have been teaching guitar for 25 years in the Washington DC metro area. I work with students 12 years of age and up, but I am especially experienced at teaching adult students regardless of whether they are beginners or have previous guitar experience. I have performed in acoustic Celtic, new age, funk, progressive rock, fusion and contemporary jazz groups and am currently performing regularly as a solo acoustic guitarist. I have composed over 40 works for solo guitar as well as numerous pieces for small jazz bands. I have played on numerous CDs including my most recent solo CD 'DARK MATTER'.

*** Lesson Details ***
I tailor the lesson materials to suit the interest of the student but I am dedicated to teaching students at any level to learn to better understand the fundamentals of the language of music. My teaching focuses on critic
al fundamentals of guitar technique including chords, scales and rhythm guitar playing as well as the art of improvisation. A significant amount of time in the lessons is spent actually playing with the students so that the technical concepts are put to use in real music situations. To further the student's understanding of music I frequently teach elements of music theory to those who are interested.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have guitars and amps available for student use although I prefer that the student bring their own instrument. I also have all the needed accessories, cables, stands etc.

*** Specialties ***
Adult students (and older teenagers ) whether beginners or experienced are a particular specialty of mine. Adult learners want to be treated as adults and often times benefit greatly from a more mentor oriented approach to teaching. I like to describe myself as both a teacher and a coach so as to emphasize that the student and I are on the same team sharing the goal of improving their guitar playing and musicianship. We are both on the same path of musical discovery. I am probably just farther along on that path with insights and knowledge that will hopefully help them along their way.

Dennis has been my guitar teacher since May 2014, but he has really been much more than that. He has a great ability to create lessons that help you to understand the musical context behind the chords and notes. In the process of learning, you find yourself wanting to explore music theory and practice (not really two separate things in Dennis' world) even more, and I can honestly that I have learned so much not just from the guitar lessons themselves but but also from our conversations about music. If you want to make a long-term investment in learning the language of music and how it manifests itself on the fretboard and the vibrations of six steel/nylon strings, then I would recommend buying some of this stock!

About Detrece
DeTrece "Dee" Lavender is a native of Miami, Florida. When her family moved to Sarasota, she was afforded the opportunity to study music and the performing arts as a student of the Westcoast School/Henry L. Porter School of Music. It was then that Dee began to understand the power of the creative arts as an effective form of emotional expression and release. By middle school, DeTrece began fine tuning her natural talents by studying classical voice which earned her several starring roles in the Sarasota Youth Opera, The Aslo Theater and the Players Theater. She is also a proud former member of the Westcoast Black Theater Troop in Sarasota, FL. Under the caring leadership of these opportunities, she was able to combine musical and life experiences in order to offer a more well rounded educational and musical experience for her students.

She was awarded a scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, where she received a dual Bachelor of Music degree in Music Therapy and Vocal Performance (Class of 2003). It was through her service as a music therapist, Millieu (residential) counselor and music teacher in the Boston City Public Schools/Greater Boston Metropolitan Area, that she began to feel the call toward a greater understanding of the gravity and role of the socio-emotional needs of students (and their families/villages) in urban settings. This call brought her to Baltimore, MD where she enrolled in the Pastoral Counseling Masters of Science program at Loyola University. In addition to her studies, she currently teaches Elementary and Middle School choir/ Musicianship teacher in the Baltimore City Public Schools through the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra's OrchKids Program. She also serves as Minister Of Music and Arts at two local churches.

Great teacher. Very quick with knowledge of theory, and how to practically apply it to guitar, calm demeanor, information dense lessons with the ability to slow it down/break it down to more and more granular levels as needed.
When I take content home from the lessons, I feel like i'm on a clear track towards my lesson goals including a vision of where i'm headed, and why the things I received in that lessons are going to be directly responsible for getting me there, if practiced diligently.
Good stuff.

Dom is a fantastic guitar coach! He takes the time to know what your interests and goals are, then tailors the lesson to accomplish that goal in the most efficient and effective manner. If you're in a rut playing the same riffs over and over again, or just want to take your playing to the next level, I'd highly recommend taking lessons with Dom!

I understand that learning something new can be very daunting. I know that in particular, because I am still new to teaching! We can both learn together. I want to make it my goal, to help you be a better musician, performer, and most obviously: a better drummer. I care deeply about making sure my students understand what I'm teaching them, and patience is the key to that.
I have self taught myself to play drums for 15 years, and have been performing for 10 years. Please ask me any questions, I'm an open book.
I also attended Sheffield Institute for the Recording Arts and am a certified audio engineer.
My ultimate goal, is to help you reach yours!

I have over twenty years of experience working with children and their families . . . and was Project Lead for the development of a hands-on curriculum for early childhood music that has been used all over the country!

Beginner lessons with me can include not only an introduction to the keyboard, and entry into learning piano and musical notation, but explorations of musical concepts like steady beat, experiences with rhythm or movement, and opportunities to try out or even make other music instruments.

As a graduate of the New England Conservatory Certificate Program, I have been trained in piano, music theory and choral arts. In addition to piano, I play the alto and soprano recorders, accordion and baritone ukulele. I am also a child development professional who continues to work at the national level.

I look forward to worki

I'm a professional clarinetist with a passion for helping beginning and intermediate clarinetists achieve their music goals. I have a bachelor's in Clarinet Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music plus two years private teaching experience. I work full time in an office in D.C. and teach clarinet part time, because I love it!

I specialize in fostering an autonomous, flexible learning environment, which means I recommend and advise based on each student's unique needs and objectives, rather than control and demand based on a pre-determined course. Especially for younger students, I encourage ownership of goals.

Lessons with me will always be enjoyable, because I believe people learn best when they're free from stress. I'm happy to match the pace at which you want to learn. Whether you're looking for guidance on techniqu
e, equipment, clarinet literature, competitions, general musicianship, or all of the above, I'm excited to share my expertise and love for the clarinet with you!

I welcome questions and would be happy to chat with any interested students or parents.
