I want to inspire my students of all ages to reach their potential as musicians. I work with my students on sheet reading, key and time signatures, developing an understanding of harmonic and tonal concepts, and proper technique. My lessons are tailored to the student’s interests, goals and skill level.
I started my classical music training at four years old and continued formal lessons until high school. I grew up in a very musical household as my father is also a professional musician. Through my formal training and my further study, I have built up a substantial knowledge of music theory. A

I am a professional violinist and violin instructor in the Washington, DC Metro Area. Currently teaching in Arlington, VA and Washington DC, I am now accepting new students to my home studio.
I have a great love for music and hope to be able to pass it on to anyone eager to learn. I teach beginner to advanced violin and viola students of any age, child to adult (adults, it’s never too late to learn if you have always wanted to!). Although there is no specified age limit, children younger than the age of 6 are admitted only at my discretion.
For beginners, I like using a combination of traditional and Suzuki methods. The materials used are Essential Elements and Suzuki Books. All my teaching is adapted to each student individually, catering to their specific level and interest.

Picking up a guitar for the first time (or the first time in a while!) can be very exciting! My hope is that with the help of some lessons you can enjoy playing guitar so much that you never want to put it down. This is why I like to keep lessons laid back and flexible. Lessons are tailored for each student to make sure everyone can have the best experience possible. Your goals are extremely important when it comes to lessons because everyone has different goals.
What are your goals for taking lessons? It could be learning to play your favorite songs, learning to solo, how to write your own songs, advice for playing live or in a recording studio, how to get the sounds of your favorite guitar players. The list could go on and on. Whatever your goals might be, I want to help you achieve them! I love most styles of music and I’m happy to teach most genres but some of my favorites are rock, alternative, blues, pop, and funk.
I play guitar and write music in a band called Rosewood Coast, and I’m employed as a Contemporary Band Leader at a church in Cincinnati, Ohio. I have experience playing acoustic and electric guitar, bass, drums, piano, and singing. I have at least a little experience in teaching each instrument thr

First thing I do before first day of class is send out a welcoming greeting via email and call a few days before first lesson. We Briefly discuss and establishing the learning goals for the course based on the visual literacy, technical, and intellectual competencies the students should achieve by the end of a period is ideal for me to design the course or update an existing course for the student's desired outcomes. The syllabus and the schedule are completed along with a comprehensive strategy for what will take place during class. Music lessons include: warm ups, exercises, technical and theory work, solfeggio (sight-singing), ear training, repertoire musical coaching, composition writing, preparation for performances and more.

Importantly gave me some guidance on setting up) the cello. We did some basic exercises and looked over some of the theory materials. Overall a very comprehensive first lesson for this beginner!"
Mary has inspired my daughter Joanne to want to play piano. She has a way of balancing what the kids like to play and what the parents want in a music lesson for their kids. Joanne has not lost interest like we thought she might, but has wanted to Accelerate learning piano. She gets them playing music right away and then little by little explains more and more about music itself. It is an all-around winning strategy, especially when teaching kids.
