I've been studying trumpet for 15 years, and I'm eager to work with students of all ages. I will give students a firm foundation in trumpet fundamentals, while also focusing on what the student would like to learn. I specialize in jazz and contemporary music, though I am also trained in classical music.

Maggie is a great teacher. My seven-year-old daughter loves her and she learns a lot from her. My daughter had a different piano teacher before. I like Maggie's upbeat way of teaching better than her old teacher. I personally believe the right attitude and energy helps motivate kids to learn. I like that she has different lesson plans and reward system. Just a little something to show my daughter that she's doing a good job.

Each student is unique, and it's difficult to classify as "beginner/intermediate/advanced" since student objectives are unique as well. I'm interested in understanding where you are on the spectrum for a wide variety of skills, and will work with each student to move along the spectrum on skills that are important to his or her objectives.

About Cindy

Cindy has been making music for as long as she can remember. She was the assistant director of a synagogue children's choir by age 14 and has directed and sung with many community choirs and pickup groups since then. But it wasn't until 1996 that she discovered the autoharp and began teaching and

Cindy is an amazing fiddle teacher. I came to her for help in learning old-time fiddle technique. I wanted something more than just learning the tune. Cindy is helping me improve my bowing style, be a better listener, and achieve a sound I always dreamed of but didn't know how to do.

When it comes to teachers, Cindy is the best of the best. She'll lay out exercises to build your skill step by step. If you love old-time music and want to excel at playing the fiddle, Cindy's your gal.
Marybeth M.
Cindy is teaching me how to play Old Time fiddle tunes and technique in the cross tune of GDGD. I find her to be an instructor that is both process-oriented (providing information about the music background"what, when, who, why") and product-oriented (how to play/technique). She always begins lessons with a review from the past lesson and the homework provided that she records and sends to me. Her demonstrations are very clear and are at a rate and pace comfortable to me. She provides clear verbal cues throughout the lessons. Cindy is very strong in task analysis, breaking down each tune part, beginning with bowing. Her feedback throughout lessons is both positive-specific and corrective-specific. Every lesson is highly enjoyable and filled with encouragement. I am a retired college professor in teacher education, and I know about the constructs of what makes a high quality teacher - Cindy, demonstrates this to me. I feel fortunate to have Cindy as my fiddle instructor.
Emily
I feel really lucky to have connected with Cindy on takelessons.com during the pandemic. I actually cannot think of another time a teacher has taught me so much so skillfully - and it's all happening over the internet! Cindy has a fabulous sense of humor, she is honest and good at her profession. She's more than a fiddle teacher, she shares a music tradition with wisdom and care.

Galina has been working with our 8th grade son on bassoon for a year and he loves it! She is a kind, generous, and knowledgeable teacher. She has patiently prepared him for auditions, improving his technique and musicality, but she also makes lessons fun by playing duets with him. She is also teaching him to make reeds. And she is very easy to work with in scheduling, and has seamlessly moved to remote lessons in the current situation. We are lucky to have found her as a teacher.

"Steve taught voice to my once extremely shy little girl starting at 10 years old. We heard that she had a sweet little voice in there and wanted to foster that paired with her love for singing. We were told by several people in our area that Steve was the best. That was an understatement.

Riley could not even look adults in the eye when speaking to them when Steve began teaching her at age 10. But by the time she graduated high school at 18, she had blossomed into a very powerful, skilled, and controlled singer who had starred in several school productions and won several awards and accolades such as the NJ NATS award and the NJ All-State Honors Choir.

During their 8 years of study, she gained such confidence and poise. There is no doubt in my mind that Steve played an enormous role in that.

Steve is very skilled at producing well-rounded singers. The repertoire of songs that he would have Riley work on spanned several different genres to not only help her to become more well-rounded but to prepare her for her career as a singer.

Whenever she had upcoming auditions or performances, Steve prepared her superblyl and gave such helpful advice. She also always knew what the song MEANT, thanks to Steve, therefore making her dynamics & feeling for the lyrics allow her acting to shine through. He knows his craft well and he loves it.....which directly benefits his students.

Today, Riley is getting ready to enter her senior year at Temple University as a Theatre major and Music minor. When she began lessons with her new instructor in Philadelphia once she went away to college, she was told that the tutelage she had received up until that point was very solid.

Besides being a student, Riley also performs professionally in Philadelphia in various cabarets and shows. That once small, sweet voice has evolved into one that fits right in with the best singers in the Philadelphia arts community.

Steve went ABOVE AND BEYOND for Riley as he really wants to see ALL of his students succeed. Being that he is known as the best around and the theatre community is tight, the general consensus about Steve is the same....he's the best."

"Quite Simply The Best.

With all of the music teachers in LA and the world, it is difficult to choose the best. With Fawn, I believe 100% that I have found the best. She is well educated, well rounded and versed in all the musical styles, up on the latest musical trends, yet knows the composers, songwriters and vocalists of yesteryears. She is passionate, fun, compassionate, patient, loving, kind and has a college degree from the 2 top music schools in the world. She has a thorough understanding of music theory, performance, voice, piano and the many ins and outs of the music industry. She is able to teach her students the theory behind the songs they are learning to play, sing, write and record. She is great at sharing the musical journey with her students, guiding them with honesty, tender care and knowledge. My daughter has grown leaps and bounds with Fawn and absolutely loves her. She’s helped change her voice into her authentic voice, taught her how to get over stage fright, how to turn her poems into song lyrics and how to produce her own vocals in the recording studio. She is quite simply, the best."

"Wonderful Voice Teacher: Understanding and Confidence Booster

I grew up taking voice lessons and have a musical background but put it aside after high school and I didn't think I could pursue a career as an artist.

After taking a couple lessons with Fawn, I feel revived. She instantly believed in me and made a plan of action to set my dream in motion. After each lesson, I feel better and see improvement in my voice and confidence. All thanks to Fawn! Looking forward to many more lessons."

What Are the Best Violin Brands for Beginners?

When you’re first starting to look for a violin brand, it's important to find a compromise between affordability and good quality. It’s not always smart to buy the cheapest model available, as not only is this likely to produce a poor sound and hamper any incentive to practice or progress, but it's likely to lose a lot of value on the resale market - it's worth bearing in mind that student models will be resold at some later date, whether you're moving onto something better, or to another in …
