Experienced teacher of 20+ years, specializing in the beginner/intermediate piano student! All ages welcome. Lessons are customized and catered to the needs/goals of each student. Not only will you be playing songs in no time, but you will be building a strong foundation of note reading, music theory, ear training, sight reading, technique, and more. Let's get started!

For beginners, I highly recommend starting with a 30-minute lesson. Intermediate and advanced should consider 45-minute lessons. 60-min lessons are available but are only recommended on a case-by-case basis. Please take into consideration your student's current skill level when deciding on the lesson length.

My background in viola definitely has helped with my violin playing and teaching! I started much later than most students do and remember EVERYTHING that I struggled with, as well as how my teachers helped me to accomplish my goals. I attend Lynn Conservatory, studying with one of today's leading teachers in the country. I have taught in the ISUs nationally recognized string project, and had violin private students go on to win auditions in their youth symphonies, as well as compete at All-State successfully. I have given national and international talks at conferences all around the nation. I feel that my background education and teaching experiences have helped me be a very unique teacher having a diverse background of methodology and information to create a unique approach for each of my students.

About Abigail

I am a professional violist, chamber musician and orchestral player, as well as a professional teacher and chamber coach. Students can expect to see improvement in their sound, intonation and feel more comfortable on their instrument within a week of regular practice. I can help students find and

I use vocalizes to teach change in the voice and also different types of music to attain a better sound. I try to make it as physical as possible since so much of the effort depends on the brain. I want to help each student achieve their goal. Together we can get to that sound which is uniquely you.

About Cathryn

Hello! My name is Cathy and I have been teaching voice (singing) for over 30 years. But don't let that fool you into thinking I'm a stogy old girl who doesn't have a pulse on contemporary music. I teach pop, country, broadway, folk, whatever it is your interested in. I do teach with vocal exerc

What makes your favorite song sound like your favorite song? Why did that guitar player play those notes during their solo and not different notes? Why does certain music make the movie feel scary while other music makes people relaxed (some even might say therapeutic!)?

These are all the questions we will explore in our music theory lessons (and more!) Related topics include:
- Basic classical harmony (Bach, Mozart, Beethoven)
- Pop music harmony. (We'll look at some of your favorite songs and figure out why we like them and why they sound the way they do.)
- Analyzing melodies. ("Why do we get certain songs stuck in our heads?")
- Advanced jazz harmony and rhythm.
- Extended techniques in 20th century contemporary music
- Music for films and video games.

About Aaron

I am a professional saxophonist, composer, music producer, and audio designer for games and other non-linear experiences. I strongly believe in the values of listening, improvising (both in music and in life), and treating every instance and detail as a chance to learn. These are the values on

Suzuki. The name of this method conjures up a single brand of training, but, in fact, there are as many takes on Suzuki as there are teachers! I've been teaching with the Suzuki Method for over 30 years, and much of my knowledge has come from being one of the first generation Suzuki students in this country. My father, who was my first teacher, studied directly with Dr. Suzuki at Peabody School of Music in Maryland when Suzuki first introduced his philosophies to the US. My teaching reflects what I feel works best, and what doesn't translate from the strictest interpretations of the Suzuki Method.

About Jill

I've been in and around music all my life. I started violin at age 5, part of the first generation of Suzuki violinists in the United States. I've loved being a professional violinist and violin teacher for over 30 years! And I've also founded and directed three community music schools in Newburyp

"Ahmad is an excellent guitar teacher. I have been taking lessons from Ahmad at his place in for several months now and I'm continually impressed with Ahmad and very pleased with my progress on the guitar.

Ahmad has a relaxed and friendly attitude, but it's clear that he's exceptionally good at his trade. He has years of experience and teaching materials on hand, and I enjoy that Ahmad customizes what he teaches to each student's skill level and goals. He has developed a very effective teaching method that works well for me. I've had plenty of music education previously in my life and Ahmad quickly recognized that we could move quickly over the basics of reading music, rhythm notation, etc. and he's always prepared with an exercise or two for me to take home and practice to expand my skills further.

I found Ahmad via his web site and called him and he was very professional and courteous leading up to our first appointment. He's got his teaching down to a science and Ahmad is very efficient with his administrative matters. I'm grateful for this because it leaves a lot more time for the guitar lesson itself.

Ahmad charges a reasonable fee for his service and I'm looking forward to learning from Ahmad for a long time to come."

5 Exercises for Relaxing Your Hands at the Piano

Mastering the proper hand position while playing the piano is one of the most important steps for your success on the keys. Here, St. Augustine, FL teacher Heather L. shares a few exercises to keep your hands relaxed and agile...   I happen to know from experience that playing the piano can be a real pain in the hands. I've struggled with hand and forearm pain, caused by several factors including piano, for about 10 years. Each hand has 35 muscles, not to mention all those connected musc …
