My name is Sylivan. I'm a dedicated musician who is passionate in music education and guitar music. I have majored in Music and received my professional training at City College of New York with a minor in Education. I have been playing music for 20 years and have performed in many different occasions. Over the years, I have developed various kinds of skills in music from my education, formal training and experiences:
- Learned various types of music for over 10 years such as classical, rock, and pop - Avid guitarist and also proficient in bass, drums, piano, and vocal - Solid foundation of theory and harmony - Worked as music and guitar instructor for private music lesson and other organizations such as summer camps and private music institutes.
I have also been teaching children and teenagers music for
over 10 years, including group classes and private lessons. Below are some of the goals in my teaching method and what students can benefit in every lesson:
- Explaining the structure of guitar and giving the basic information about the instrument - Instructing students about both the basic and advance techniques in guitar playing - Striking a fine blend of theory and practicality while teaching guitar playing - Ability to understand the needs, short and long term goals of different students and changing the methods of teaching accordingly - Preparing students for student recitals or public performances if necessary
I'm funny, friendly, outgoing, and love to play guitar. I’m also flexible and easy to work with, however when it comes to learning I’m strict and serious. Some of my students call me “Three-Face”, for I’m not only your teacher but also your friend and your coach: I will introduce you to the world of guitar as a teacher; jam and have fun with you as a friend; and I will train you and make sure you are on the right as a coach.
I like all kinds of music, from Classical to Metal and everything in between. Some of my favorite bands/artists who influence me include: Joe Satriani, Slash, Santana, Jimi Hendrix, AC/DC, Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Led Zeppelin, Disturbed, Antoine Carre, Niccolo Paganini, Antonio Vivaldi…
Sharing my knowledge in music and guitar makes me happy, and it is the greatest joy for me to see my students grow and play the music they like. Guitar lessons should be fun and enjoyable, yet challenging.
Thank you very much for visiting my page and I hope to teach you soon!
- Sylivan T.
*** Lesson Details *** During our first lesson, we will first talk about your goal and music direction that you want to pursuit. Then based on your goal and direction, I will customize a curricular track and briefly explain the things that you need to know and what you need to focus on in order to achieve your goal.
As your instructor, my goal is to help you to reach your goals and to have fun with the music you enjoy. In each lesson, according to your progress, I will introduce you new concepts/materials using fun and easy-to-learn activities. Then we will work on the materials together and have fun jamming together. Yes!! You will feel like you are jamming along with your friend instead of taking a guitar lesson, because guitar lessons suppose to be fun!!!
Each particular lesson I will assign you some assignments. They would either be things that we already jammed on during the lesson, or something that I want you to work on your own. Then when we meet again, we will go over the assignments together and I will give you comments and advises to help you play better.
Below are only some of the instructional books that I usually use for teaching beginners. I will also use other instructional books and music repertories according to the ability of the students and their music style:
- Hal Leonard Guitar Method: Will Schmid and Greg Koch - Alfred’s Basic Guitar Method: Alfred d’ Auberge and Morton Manus - Hal Leonard Rock Guitar Method: Michael Mueller - Solo Guitar Playing: Frederick M. Noad
From my experience as a teacher and student, I believe there is no such thing as a “Perfect Instructional Book”. Therefore along with the above instructional books I will add in some other activities and exercises written by myself.
*** Travel Equipment *** I expect my students to have a guitar and a chromatic tuner. Also a note book, some staff paper, and a pen and a pencil.
For electric guitar, it's necessary to have an amp and a .25 inch cable at home
*** Specialties *** Usually use Mei Bay Guitar Method as a general guide and text for guitar teaching.
*** Specialized in classical, rock, blues, and pop ***
Passionate and patient instructor. Always takes the time to answer my questions and makes sure I understand each topic before moving on to the next.

Sylivan is a great teacher with great personality. He was there to help me not only when I struggled with music and guitar but also when I felt down. I asked him why he cared so much and he told me a healthy mind is most important which helps in music learning =) Sylivan is also patient; even sometimes I can't stand myself but he was there to help me to learn lol He has passion in teaching and you can see it once he's in action.
If you love music and have the passion it takes to learn to play an instrument I'll be honored to have you as a student. Whether you want to take Piano, Guitar, Singing or Violin Lessons, we will work closely with you to help you gain the confidence you need to perform at a very good level.
I am a musician from the Conservatory of Bellas Artes in Colombia and a Music Producer from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. My Career began when I was 12 years old playing Piano and today I work among world known musicians.
Most of our students are from the South Florida area. Our pricing is reasonable and I can create custom packages to accommodate your budget.
Aaron Woolley is a Los Angeles-based trumpet player and educator. Aaron has studied with David Washburn, Tom Hooten, Jens Lindemann, and Tim Saeger. Aaron received his Bachelor of Music from the University of California, Los Angeles and his Masters of Music from Azusa Pacific University.
As a freelance artist, Aaron can be heard on recordings such as “Room 3A”, a Japanese TV drama, “Song of Hope” with Jens Lindemann, and the “Miners’ Hymn” a film on the history of coal mining in Northern England. He has also performed world-premieres on the stage of Royce Hall, and has opened for the Rolling Stone’s 50th anniversary tour. Aaron performs and tours with the Alias Brass Company, recently completing a tour beginning in Chicago and ending in Las Vegas.
In 2013, Aaron enlisted in the California Army National Guard and subsequently gra
duated from the U. S. Armed Forces School of Music. Upon graduating, Aaron won a place on Colonel Bruce Pulver’s Commandant’s List. The Commandant’s List is reserved for the top ten percent of soldiers who demonstrate musical excellence and achievement in a wide variety of leadership and soldiering tasks. During his time with the 40th Infantry Division, Aaron has performed in over 50 concerts, including the 2016 Fourth of July celebration, where he was a featured soloist in front of over 20,000 attendees.
My son thoroughly loved his lessons with Aaron. Aaron spoke to him a respectful and sensitive way while challenging him to push farther than he ever did in his school band class. We are only stopping lessons because we are going on vacation and will not be back until the new school year has begun. With a new school and an new schedule, I am hoping to be able to continue lessons with Aaron in the future.

Aaron is a great teacher! I enjoyed my lesson today with him and look forward to my other lessons!

As an instructor Aaron is outstanding. He's professional and has impressive attributes being a UCLA grad and participating member of the armed forces; but more so, he's encouraging to his students and in our son - he positively encouraged a passion for the trumpet and a high regard for music in general.
Hello! My name is Cathy and I have been teaching voice (singing) for over 30 years. But don't let that fool you into thinking I'm a stogy old girl who doesn't have a pulse on contemporary music. I teach pop, country, broadway, folk, whatever it is your interested in. I do teach with vocal exercises because without them no changes will be made and that's the whole point right to change your voice? However you do get to sing songs. I teach, so that you will change your voice and succeed in whatever avenue you want. My degree is in Vocal Performance from Northeastern Illinois University and one year of Masters work in Drama from DePaul University.
I also teach ESL, Reading, Writing, History which I have done for the past ten years. I use a variety of techniques since no two people are alike to help you learn English or the Ameri
can lifestyle. I presently teach Caterpillar employees, spouses and children. Let me teach you and see how far we can go.
I have loved music since I was a child. I began playing clarinet when I was 11 years old and slowly picked up new instruments like the saxophone, harmonica, guitar, ukulele, flutes, whistles, kazoo, and others. I enjoy any style of music and have a desire to learn as many instruments as possible. My line-up of new instruments to learn are: accordion, banjo, trombone, the cello. I love to teach and share my passion for music with others. My hope to is make people into learners of music proficient in learning any instrument they wish.
Excellent experience. Learned a great deal on the first day. Hoping to get fluent in playing this instrument.

Simply put, Andrew is the best. His genuine love and passion for all-things music was obvious the first day we met him. He is great with kids. He is flexible yet reliable. We love the fact that he tailors his lessons, homework, and incentives to the needs and interests of each individual student. We are confident that we could not find a better guitar instructor for our daughter.
Hello, my name is Josh. I am a professional vocal coach, vocal arranger and singer. I teach contemporary and classical voice and basic-intermediate piano. I have a Bachelors of Music in Commercial Music from Azusa Pacific University. I have taught students as young as 5 all the way up to 65. My goal is to challenge my students to grow and improve in their musical excellence and enjoy the music along the way! I am patient, positive and encouraging with my students!
Josh is very patient and focused on the lesson, managed to direct me to the mistakes I make with my voice in a few minutes, I found it very cool and I feel that I will learn a lot from him with each class.

I needed some help prepping for an audition and Josh was such a phenomenal teacher! He gives great instruction and also creates a comfortable environment to practice stage presence. I felt very prepared for those auditions and will be taking more lessons from him in the future!

Josh is great! Knowledgeable, patient, and flexible. He took the time and energy to create lesson plans and methods that fit my needs and level of understanding. I'd recommend him wholeheartedly to anyone looking to improve their musical knowledge and skills.
I am a professional singer, voice teacher, and performer. I graduated from Azusa Pacific University with a BA in Music Education and received my CA teaching credential in music at San Diego State University.
Voice students can expect to improve week to week in their vocal technique. Every voice has a unique timbre; I teach students to release built up tension and apply foundational techniques in order to unlock their own individual sound. I can help any student to sing with freedom, confidence, and expression.
As a professional recording artist, I have sung on sessions with Tim Davis (Glee, ABC's Boy Band) and Damien Jurado (indie singer-songwriter, Sub Pop & Secretly Canadian). I sing with the L.A. Choral Lab and Los Robles Master Chorale, in addition to performing at restaurants and hotels including the Langham (Pasadena) and Hote
l Casa 425 (Claremont Village).
I specialize in classical, jazz, musical theater, and contemporary styles, but I firmly believe that great technique is essential to any and every genre. I look forward to meeting you and helping you to become a better musician!
My daughter really enjoyed her first lesson. Camille made her feel comfortable and relaxed. She looks forward to next week

Camille is so patient and invested in the student. This is my 9 year old granddaughter who is working on an audition right now. Camille always makes her part of the decision making process, and that ownership and exposure to the preparation process for auditioning, makes for a long lasting learning experience.
We are looking forward to what is hopefully a long lasting relationship.

Nice teacher! She focuses on technique and exercises which I really need! I have practice next week and I am excited!
Hi! I'm Alex I am a student and former football player at The University of Alabama. I have been playing banjo for 5 years now and love sharing my experience with those who are less experienced. My favorite part of teaching is allowing the student to be creative and not just sticking to a book like some more traditional teachers.
"Halle finished her 5th lesson today. She is really enjoying her lessons and learning quickly. We are very happy we found Matt."
"This past year, I have been brought back to piano music through Randy's excellent teaching. His approach is one of a kind. He helped this student to hear
the music within me, the sounds around me and to play what I hear. He is truly amazing, encouraging, supportive and highly skilled, a true professional. I am always happy to recommend him to anyone who is seeking the very best instruction, by the very best instructor. Elaine L."
"Totally awesome cool! Danny teaches kids drums from first time to having fun playing real songs in just a few lessons. Thank you for making learning fun
for my son!"
"In just a few short months I can't believe how much I've learned from Jessica. My technique has improved; my tone in the upper part of my range has impro
ved; how to keep my tongue from getting in the way / impeding the sound; so many aspects of singing. When I started my lessons I was particularly concerned that I might be doing something that was tiring my voice and causing it to lose volume. Jessica's knowledge of and ability to demonstrate proper singing technique helped me through that concern and I know I am a "healthier" singer now. Knowledge and ability aside, her approach is also very patient and very encouraging. I highly recommend her to anyone interested in improving their technique, tone, range, artistic ability, etc."
"Sarah is a very pleasant young woman and I felt welcome in her home."
"Mike is awesome! Super down to earth and easy to talk to. He is understanding and patient and seriously takes the time to help you grasp new concepts and
increase comfortability with new styles. He is an incredible musician and really understands the deeper meaning behind any drum style or technique that you are trying to learn. I have been a self taught drummer my whole life and I moved to Denver to attend CU for music after getting out of the Army. Mike helped me to prepare for my entrance exams and my drum kit audition, which I knocked out the park. I am now a full blown music student and officially on path to my dream career. Thank you Mike!! I'm looking forward to more lessons and to continue improving!"
"Rosita is an excellent teacher. She is very detailed in terms of transitioning between notes, breathing properly, and opening the mouth wide enough to sin
g. She is also very encouraging. On our first lesson, she told me that I had a natural talent for singing, but my voice has improved dramatically since then. I would definitely recommend her to anyone who wants to learn to sing, or can already sing, but wants to sing better."
"Tigran is a great teacher!
Tigran has been my violin teacher for almost 4 months. Tigran impressed me with his excellent violin skills. I always feel it'
s my honor to have such a high-level violinist as my teacher. The same piece of music sounds a world of difference when he plays it. Besides, he is a teacher with integrity. He doesn't choose the easy way of pleasing me with compliments, but instead he points out the source of my problems and wants me to work on them. He also taught me unique effective ways how to improve my violin skills. As a Chinese saying says: "good (Chinese) medicines taste bitter". In order to improve my violin skills, Tigran has the courage and integrity to prescribe the bitter medicine that I need rather than to give me useless placebo. Now I start to feel the joy of playing better. And there is so much more progress to look forward to with Tigran as my teacher! Tigran is the right teacher for serious students."
"As someone who has played the drums for 15+ years, I can highly recommend Alexa! She is a very skilled and talented drummer. She knows everything from the
basics to advanced fills and chops. You won't regret taking lessons from her!"
Think you don't have enough time to practice violin? Think again! We all have days where we're short on time, but that doesn't mean you should skip practice altogether. Here, Austin, TX violin instructor Naomi Cherie S. shows you how to get an effective violin practice session in only 15 minutes...
We've all heard it before: "Practice makes perfect!" However, an intelligent five-year-old violin student improved this saying when she told me "Practice makes better!" It's a nice reminder tha …
