About Mark T
I have been playing since I was 4 years old and have been loving every minute of it. I have been fortunate to play and tour with many groups here in the US and in Europe. Over the years I have really enjoyed passing on my knowledge and love of music making to others. I would be honored if you gave me the opportunity to help your or your family achieve their musical dreams.

*** Lesson Details ***
First and foremost I am very laid back and that helps my students relax into the process of making great music. Expect your first lesson to be about getting to know each other and getting a firm idea of what your expectations are.

Everyone learns at a different pace and has changing interests. Within the framework of moving you towards your musical goals I create custom goals and lessons for my students.

What does that mean? Well, y
ou can pick out some of your own music, customize the way you practice, decide when you want to move forward with more challenging music and many other things.

I do expect my students to learn several pieces of music at a time and perform so you can share your music. That's what it is all about after all!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Music room with seating for parents.

*** Travel Equipment ***
None, all students require an instrument to practice on.

*** Specialties ***

We have had a very positive experience with Mark Williams. My son has been taking lessons for over a year and progressing nicely. Mark works hard to keep him interested and makes sure that he continues to enjoy learning. Exactly what we were looking for.

Fantastic Teacher!

Mark Williams's violin teaching is very experienced and professional. He helped prepare my daughter for her county orchestra audition, and she made it! My daughter enjoys the pieces assigned, and his constructive feedback has allowed her to fix bowing technique and other problems. Each lesson is focused on improving and learning new and old skills. His teaching has made my daughter a better violinist! The schedule is also flexible to fit all my daughter's activities. If you are looking for an excellent violin teacher, Mark Williams is the one!

Teaching Style:

In my lessons I emphasize both technical skill and musical creativity. I use the Russian Method to instill my students with good technique and tone and I make sure that my students are confident on their scales and etudes. I try to chose pieces for my students that encourage artistic expression and I aim to help my students develop their own musical creativity.

Musical Experience:

I have completed my Bachelors degree in Music Education at Georgia State University. I teach and perform on the violin, viola, and cello. I was a principal in the Gwinnett County Youth Symphony Orchestra, assistant principal in the Kendall Youth Symphony Orchestra, and an assistant principal in the Emory Youth Symphony Orchestra.

About Katherine
Hi! I'm Katherine! I am a flutist, professor, pre-college flute teacher, curriculum writer, clinician, and speaker living in Georgia. Other than playing the flute and enjoying my career in music, I'm really into dogs, cooking, travel, and making lists. I love organization, planning, reading, and writing but not so much arithmetic. I leave the math to my brilliant husband who is basically a human calculator. Armed with my flute, sheepdog, family, friends, and laptop, I enjoy my rich life as a flutist, teacher, speaker, writer, chef, dog mom, entrepreneur, and volunteer.

I have a doctorate in flute performance from the University of Washington as well as degrees in music education and flute performance from the University of Georgia. I am an experienced public school music teacher and currently teach college music classes at Geo
rgia Gwinnett College.

I make lessons as much fun and informative as possible. My personal goal for students is to feel comfortable and receptive to information during lessons. I expect students to practice daily so that we can achieve as much as possible during each lesson. I have also found that by holding students to high expectations from the beginning, they will excel much faster and flute lessons become even more rewarding. Even though I keep standards high, flute lessons are always fun and entertaining (often making use of a rubber chicken and a pair of wax lips). Students should be ready to work hard. I started playing drums at the age of 8. My playing experience began in church. I participated in the marching, concert, and jazz bands in middle and high school. By the time I had reached the age of 17, I began playing drums professionally when I was offered the opportunity to play for Dove Award-winning, Grammy nominated Southern Gospel group The Martins. After high school, I went on to study music at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, Arkansas on a music scholarship.

I relocated to Atlanta, Georgia to attend the Atlanta Institute of Music. After graduating from AIM, I began teaching privately and playing with various artists/groups around town. The summer of 2011, I embarked upon the “opportunity of a lifetime” to tour with 2x Grammy Award-winning Hip-Hop group Arrested Development in Europe. From there, I toured with th

My son has always wanted to learn to play the drum. I contacted Take Lessons and was connected to Mr. Allen. As was expected, my son was a little nervous for his first lesson. After meeting with his teacher, Mr. Allen, he became very comfortable and was eager to attend class each week and was ready to learn. He loves learning to play the drum and he loves his teacher. Thanks Mr. Allen for being the patient and kind instructor that you are.

About Ashley
NEWS as of 6/22/17 - This July Ashley will be moving to Athens, GA to pursue her Master of Music degree at the University of Georgia as a graduate teaching assistant. Her studio will now be located in Athens, GA and teaching will begin on Sept. 1, 2017.

NEWS as of 3/28/17 - LIMITED AVAILABILITY due to performance schedule. I am currently only teaching on Tuesdays (all day) and Mondays. Please check calendar for your ideal time

I have a Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Performance, and have been teaching voice for 9 years. My students are regularly accepted into Honors choruses, community and academic musical productions, and are accepted into arts middle and high schools.
Teaching voice is my passion, and I love to teach individuals of all ages and ability levels. I teach with a very relaxed approach or a very directive one, and a
nything in between, depending on each person's needs. I have found that a positive attitude and a nurturing setting go furthest in helping people develop as singers. I have experience teaching both male and female voices, transgender voices, and almost all genres of music.

Professional Bio:

Hailed for her effortless high notes, warm timbre, and vocal agility, coloratura soprano Ashley A. is a versatile performer and advocate of early and contemporary music.

In 2017/18, Ashley makes her European début singing the roles of Aricie in Rameau’s Aricie et Hyppolite and Diana in Cavalli’s La Calisto with Woodhouse Opera Festival in London. Upcoming engagements also include medieval repertoire with early music group Lauda Musicam, a presentation of Baroque music for the Historical Keyboard Society of North America, and two programs with Savannah Baroque: Love and Passion and Donne in Musica, the latter presenting music of female composers of the Baroque era. In the summer, she will return to the Savannah Voice Festival as a second year studio artist under the tutelage of Sherrill Milnes.

In 2016, Ashley was in a featured soloist in Haydn’s Missa brevis Sancti Joannis de Deo, and prior to that she portrayed the role of Josephine in HMS Pinafore presented by Asbury Memorial Theatre. She was a featured soloist on a program of medieval Spanish repertoire with early music ensemble The Goliards, which she has collaborated with since 2010.

Other past operatic performances include Ännchen in Der Freischütz, Barbarina, La Contessa and Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, Erste Dame, Pamina and Papagena in Die Zauberflöte, Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, and Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance.

Ashley has pursued the study of voice, vocal pedagogy, acting, and Alexander Technique with teachers from around the country since 2008. Currently, she studies with Sharon Stephenson, Dr. William Lavonis, and Dr Ron Dennis. She resides in Atlanta, Georgia where she maintains a private studio in addition to her performance schedule.

Ashley was very professional. My daughter responded well to her teaching style. Ashley requested the music my daughter was working on in advance and suggested other song choices for her voice. Ashley played the music on the piano while my daughter sang. She did breathing techniques and other voice warm ups too. She even gives homework. We love her and HIGHLY RECOMMED her.

Hi! I'm Julian. While I specialize in guitar, I also know my way around keys, bass, and a drumkit. I've been teaching guitar for about 11 years, and have spent a few years teaching out of music shops. My style is adaptive and fluid to suit a wide range of desires and skill levels, but in addition to guitar technique you can expect to learn a good deal about music theory. I love teaching music more than anything and would rather do nothing else. I come from a blues/rock background and studied jazz guitar and music production at Shenandoah University. If you think we'd be suitable for one another, don't hesitate to contact me!

As a teacher, Tyler has taught voice, music theory, sight reading, and composition lessons to students of all ages. He has a degree in music education, a degree in composition, and is currently finishing his final degree.

When taking lessons; you can expect to achieve the following:
Fundamentals of singing
Building singing skills
How to read and write music
How to listen to music
Sight Singing
Scales
Key signatures
Intervals
Dictation
Chords and how they work
How to analyze music

Here are a few reviews from students I have taught:
Mr. S was a great teacher. He was always professional and fair about his tests and
grading. Aside from the basic music theory 1 curriculum itself, he gave the class additional input that gave some of the concepts more context. I learned alot. Most of all, I appreciated his willingness to help me on an individual basis. I don't think I grasped some of the concepts as fast as other students, but Mr. S was always there to lend a helping hand. At times, I'd run into him just as he was leaving the building, but he'd still help me with a homework problem or two. He didn't have to do this, but I'm thankful that he did. I'd recommend Mr. S to anyone wanting to take Music Theory.

Mr. S is an absolutely fantastic teacher. I doubt I would have learned as much as I did throughout the Aural skills sequence at UGA if he wasn't my instructor. He just has a way with teaching and getting concepts across that is very effective. He goes above and beyond to make sure no one in the class ever falls behind, and is very understanding and willing to give extra help. He's so great!.

I love Mr. S, he was very helpful and took time out of his schedule to help me when ever possible! The only thing I would say is try to include more dictations in class, don't focus as much on theory behind it, deffinetly still go over it but just not as much. For example it really did help though when, you would go over the functions of each chord and note. Thank you for a great year!

I thought that Mr. was a very good instructor. He was always willing to meet outside of class to help you with questions. He also tried to explain things many ways when you don't understand. He is very smart and good at what he does. I hope to h
