An experienced and registered Suzuki teacher, my students learn to play violin starting from a solid foundation with emphasis on posture and producing a beautiful tone. In addition to playing the instrument, students can expect to learn reading music, basic theory, music history, and ear training. Learning violin will teach patience, concentration, the value of hard work, coordination, as well as enhancing memory, aural skills, and fine motor control. It was Dr. Suzuki's belief and mine that learning an instrument not only fosters these skills but also helps to foster the hearts and minds of those learning the craft.

About Sylvia

Sylvia Wehrs grew up in Auburn, Alabama studying the violin and piano. She is a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music where she graduated with both a Bachelor’s in Violin Performance and a Master’s degree in Violin Performance and Suzuki Pedagogy. Ms. Wehrs is a fully registered violin teach

Sylvia is very good at taking the time to explain the reasons behind the why of doing certain things. Being an adult with no musical background what so ever she has really taken the time to teach me some basic fundamentals that are helping me build the solid foundation that I so very much want and need. Beyond the time we spend with one-on-one instructions she challenges me with exercises to practice on between our meetings. I explained to Sylvia what I was looking for and she has centered the training and instructions around that to ensure that my goals are being met. She is a pleasure to work with and learn from.

Lessons will be based on what YOU want to learn! Together, we will articulate these goals and create a curriculum to achieve them. Lessons and practicing should be fun, and my experience of teaching many many different students taught me that structured and goal oriented practice is necessary in order to play the music you want to learn.
Your part is to bring up this effort and practice regularly.
My part is to help you learn HOW to practice and master the instrument with proper technique.

I have been passionately teaching guitar for more than 10 years and have been working as a Teaching Assistant in Classical Guitar at USC for the past three years. Before coming to the US in 2013, I taught individual and group guitar lessons at several music schools in Germany. I have extensive

Ines has been a great teacher throughout college. Her emphasis on technique has greatly influenced how I approach guitar playing. Also, she taught me how important one's guitar tone is when playing a song the way the composer intended it to be played. It is very clear that I have improved as a guitar player while being her student and my guitar repertoire has expanded beyond just classical music.

Ines is an inspiring teacher for our nine-year old daughter. She is firm but flexible, patient, and a wonderful role model. Her breadth of performing and teaching experience allows her to choose repertory that is varied, fun, and challenging. Our daughter is always excited to have lessons with her.

I have been teaching a wide variety of styles and genres such as, classical, jazz, funk, rock, pop, hip-hop, etc. for 10 years. My teaching style is unique because as a full time professional musician I also bring a "street smarts" approach to the "book smarts" type of lessons--you get the best of both worlds. All of my lessons are rooted in classical piano technique, so you can learn how to properly and efficiently play the piano from a technical approach. One of the first things we will do is set daily, weekly, and monthly goals for you! Students will learn how to read music and they will also learn how to play by ear. Let's get started!

AMAZING TEACHER!!! Inspirational musician and educator

I took 2 years of lessons with Keegan. In that time he guided and prepared me for a career as a self providing musician. Not only did he teach me anything I wanted to know and everything I needed to know about the piano, he connected me with local musicians and gave me opportunities to audition and sub on gigs.

I successfully auditioned for the Berklee College of Music, which he helped me prepare for. I can now say that everything I learned with Keegan was crucial for my survival and progress in this College.

Keegan doesn't only teach you how to play, but how to hear and how to practice and approach music with joy and humility.
Glenn
Keegan has an absolutely impeccable undertanding of both piano and harmony itself. There was no concept he couldn't clearly and concisely breakdown for me in ways easy to understand, but I also gained a lot from the little observations he would make along the way. Technique suggestions would come with either anecdotes or real life experiences to support and provide context to his finely-honed teaching methods. Could not recommend more highly for someone who really wants get INTO piano (especially jazz/classical)
Megan
I’ve just started taking lessons with Keegan this year and have already learned a great deal. Each lesson is significant. Keegan is a professional whose honest with your progress and truly works to help you move forward. I already see great improvements in my understanding of theory, playability, songwriting, music reading, and improvisation skills. I recommend his services whole heartedly.

About Andrew

I started taking lessons when I was 9, focusing solely on blues and classic rock. As I grew up, I branched out into heavy metal, jazz, and classical. At the end of our lesson, my teacher would always write something with me and let me solo over it. I think this was super important for keeping it fu

I focus on creating a safe and free sound. Alignment is the basis a great technique. Each person is different, and knowing how to help them release unwanted tension is critical.

The vocal folds are the core of the sound, and must be given the utmost care and consideration. Proper hydration is essential. They are also muscles, that need strengthening exercises and time for them to change. This will improve your vocal endurance and range. As a highly trained voice teacher, I can hear if the vocal folds are behaving in a healthy and efficient manner. It is essential that your teacher understand how to care for these delicate components of the human voice.

Vocal resonance is how opera singers are heard without amplification. It can be enhanced through awareness and coordination of the various portions of the vocal tract. There are two main components that help magnify the sound. The pharynx, also known as the throat, and the soft palate. Having an open throat and lift ...

"Our children have been going to Judy for 6 years, beginning at 6 years old. She is respectful, patient and kind with her way of teaching the children. Judy likes to keep the communication open between her and the parents of the students, so that she is able to
tailor her teaching to each child. She teaches them to evaluate the music by the techniques they have learned through her. Judy has taught the children that it’s not about playing notes but the musicality of each piece of music. Over the last 5 years, Judy has prepared both children to participate in music festivals and both have received awards for superior ratings.

I would highly recommend Judy to anyone that is interested in playing piano or has a child that is interested in piano."

Can You Really Teach Yourself How to Play Ukulele?

If you want to learn how to play ukulele, you’re in excellent company. Today’s popular music scene is rife with ukulele players, including Taylor Swift, Eddie Vedder, and Zooey Deschanel, just to name a few. While it’s certainly possible to teach yours …
