When I first begin teaching a student, I tell them that everyone has the ability to sing well no matter his or her experience. I also tell them that there are four things that a good singer must have: breathe control (air is your fuel, and must be used efficiently and effectively to give you the best sound), posture (in order to have access to your air and prevent vocal damage you must practice good posture habits), diction (how you pronounce words when singing can impede or improve vocal tone, as well as help or hinder the audience in understanding the lyrics) and finally and most importantly, passion. Passion is how emotionally connected you are to music and is what really allows the singer to connect with his or her audience.

Students who are new to music can expect (from me) a patient teacher that will help them learn how to sight read new music and won’t be too strict with them. I am not an intimidating person, so I will make the lessons as friendly, professional, and productive as possible. I expect my students to learn as much as possible. I gain happiness when I see someone learn something new and I enjoy singing as much as I enjoy teaching how to sing.

Hello beautiful singers! My name is Hannah and I have been steadily training for the past 15 years, specializing in vocal pedagogy. Through years of training in both the professional world and extensive education, I firmly believe that the key to easy and lasting singing is in healthy vocal production. My desire is to transform the voices placed in my care through the simple science of muscular development, and transform hearts through the repetition of them seeing what they are truly capable of.

There are a number of reasons someone may wish to take music lessons. Whatever the specific reason, striving to achieve one’s “artistic truth” is the goal. My holistic view of education is to help a student find his/her own individual “voice” as a singer and a creative artist. I believe the role of an educator is not to relay information in a detached context, what I call teaching “at” a student, but to lead that student in a discussion of the music, pulling information from the student in a collaborative effort between two or more individuals. It is my goal to facilitate an emotionally safe environment for students to take risks, make mistakes, listen critically, and articulate his/her thoughts. We work towards freedom of expression and letting go of fear. Fear is the single greatest enemy of any artist: If you're afraid of how your music will go, you won't be making art.
A healthy mind, body, and spirit all work together to make a strong, whole individual. The development of ...

As it applies to singing and the human voice, a subharmonic is one or several harmonics created below the fundamental harmonic where the fundamental is perceived to be lower than the original tone. Subharmonics occur when a singer's ventricular folds vibrate along with their vocal folds at the same time. It's important to note here that the label "subharmonic" does not refer to a register or specific vocal technique. Just because you have a voice in a low register doesn't mean you are necessa …
