Using the classic European Atelier Style of teaching, I start all students with basic drawing, tone and color theory before embarking on either water color or oil painting. This is to ensure that the students have a solid foundation upon which to apply color to achieve the desire d effects. No amount of pretty color will make up for a poorly constructed work. Students learn to create dimensional illusions by understanding the principles of perspective, light and dark and various techniques.

About Patricia
As a child I watched from the doorway as my older sister took her piano lessons. From that experience I taught myself to play the piano. My formal training came in college where I received my BA in Applied Music in piano and voice. I studied classical music and opera from a visiting professor from Peabody Conservatory, Baltimore MD. I graduated with honors and gave my Town Hall performance in the Spring of my Senior year. I had a passionate desire to be involved in music, to hear it and to perform it. I spent several years singing with the San Diego Opera Company, performing lead roles in Musical Theater and soloing in concerts from Monterrey to San Diego, CA. While still a student in college, I taught piano to children from the local community, so I have accumulated decades of teaching experience. Nothing brings me greater pleasure than
to see individuals "blossom" into their creative selves. Whether it is for a student's own enjoyment, audition preparation, recital performance or ongoing piano or voice development, I am committed to engaging you in an experience of learning and fun. It may be the biggest thrill of your lifetime!

*** Lesson Details ***
I love to have fun. For me, learning is a great source of fun. My goal is to make the process of your learning music fun while effective. I do have high standards for participation. I do not ask anything of you that I haven't done myself. I know, from many years of experience in performing and teaching, what it takes to make progress in a learning curve, Are you excited? Are you dedicated? Are you willing to jump in and get busy? I will give you the foundation of theory and technique to support your performance. I will expand your understanding and appreciation for music in its many styles and formats. No every other week or schedule as you go lessons, please.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Living room - Steinway piano, cathedral ceilings ... good acoustics.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Must have piano or quality keyboard. I definitely prefer piano.

*** Specialties ***
I was trained classically in both piano and voice, but spent many years in musical theater and singing in supper clubs, as well. I am capable of teaching most styles of piano and voice except rock and rap.

i recently came out of an audition and I sang my musical pieces better than I've ever done them before! The auditioner sat me down at the end and said he loves my voice. He said, based on how much he liked my pieces and how well I did that he would like to extend an early invitation for callbacks for the program! I really have Patricia to thank for that. She has helped me improve my voice by leaps and bounds in the time that i have been working with her and its amazing to get such immediate and rewarding results. I CAN NOT THANK PATRICIA ENOUGH! SHE COULD NOT HAVE PREPARED ME ANY BETTER AND IM SO GRATEFUL THAT I GET TO WORK WITH HER!!

She is great! It will be my 5th lesson with her tomorrow, but she has already gave me confidence in singing (at least I can get my voice out more than before without shame), being patient with me, very informative, and gives great advises.
I originally took her lesson because I had an audition for Christmas Carol, and I wanted to at least go over the song I was going to use. Instead, she gave me another song to sing for the audition. I have never been able to get in a show where singing is the main dish; however, after her advise with the new song, I was thrilled to see an email from the casting director when I was chosen to be in the show! I can never thank enough her for this. :D

I teach sketching, painting (watercolor, oil and acrylic) to children 5-10 years of age as way to release stress, gain confidence, and express themselves!
All materials are provided, but students are welcome to bring their own brushes, paints, paper, etc. if they so desire.

About Julia
Hi! My name is Julia A. I have been tutoring students of all ages and skill levels at learning centers, colleges, libraries and schools since 2008.

My instruction extends nationwide, with students from all corners of the US, utilizing online tutoring services such as Skype.

My main field of study is in MATH (trig, algebra, geometry, precalculus), CHEMISTRY (high school and college), and PHYSICS (high school and college).

I completed my Bachelors in Physics and Mathematics Education at Hunter University and have gained experience with both in-person and online group instruction and curriculum development.

Some examples of the students I have tutored are: Elementary school students preparing for State competitions and exams; High school and College students in preparing for entrance exams, and in subjects such as algebra, geome
try, trig, precalc, chemistry and physics.

I do Regents and SAT/ACT prep for these subjects as well as the GRE (These are NYS based High School Preparatory Exams - do not hesitate to ask should you need assistance with the ones offered in your state/country).

In addition, I am thorough and meticulous, by paying special attention to how the student grasps information and retains it, and prepare individualized handwritten reviews, with supplemental material found online and in texts.

I assign homework to keep my students ahead of what is going on in class, and a visual and intuitive understanding of the concepts I present is important to me, so I use visual aids (diagrams and virtual art) to help my students integrate what they learn with me in real life situations.

My instruction includes those with a gap in going back to school/university. I start with an assessment based on what the student has trouble with or remembers last covering in school, and prepare material going from there.

As a result, my students all have improved grades without any need for cramming before tests, and I encourage a stress-free and easygoing learning environment.

My lessons are fun and enthusiastic - these subjects are beautiful and will help open your mind to new ways of thinking - whatever your field of study!

Julia creates her own curriculum which is better than anything my daughters receive in their schools.
I see marked improvements in their grades for this past year, and my eldest is actually skipping fourth grade as a result of lessons. I am astounded as to my girls' progress, and greatly appreciative of our tutor's expertise.
Her patient, methodical approach to teaching is why I see us remaining with her for all of our educational instruction. She has already taught arithmetic to my youngest (3rd grade), and algebra to my eldest (starting 5th this sept!), and is proceeding with more advanced math with no issue whatsoever. I cannot recommend her enough.

I'm in a fast paced trig course at my uni, and we've covered things I never did in high school. I did 5 lessons over skype with Julia, and know I've found a keeper. She sends stuff to practice on in advance and has me work with her like I would with my professor. She comes up with practice based on my weakest areas and never shortens time. I don't even have to ask for review material because she assigns hw to work on, and basically, I'm a master at graphing now.

About Dovile
I began teaching while studying in Art Institute. My first students were 5 to 7 yr. old kids. It was very challenging, but also very rewarding. I was teaching them skills, they were teaching me patience. Later the age of my students grew, until I ended up teaching the same students I was in the same classes just 6 months ago. Again another challenge. I love challenges and even more I love helping others to overcome them.
My philosophy about teaching is that everybody can learn, it is only the way how we learn is different for different people. Another very important thing - I strive to be creative, respectful and approachable.

It is hard to get a lot out of a lesson doing it remotely. And in one hour! She was wonderful but I think I would like to try lessons either in a group setting or individual face to face. That way she could help me correct mistakes as I go.

I have been teaching painting for 7 years and my students have gone on to pursue their passion and gain a greater appreciation of art. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to understand your tools and learn techniques, and as time goes on you'll begin to see how everything comes together to help you portray your vision in your work. I specialize in landscape but am also experienced in a wide range of styles, from representational to abstract. I enjoy the opportunity to share art with my students and see them reach their goals.

About Marc
Hi, my name is Marc M. and I can't wait to challenge and guide you through the process of making art. I have been teaching private lessons since 2008 and have taught courses at community art centers since 2014. I believe drawing and painting is a skill that everyone can learn by gaining knowledge of basic principles and fundamentals. I went to The Art Institute of Boston and earned a bachelors degree in Fine Art in 2007. I'm a respectful and open-minded person and my teaching style is intuitive, encouraging and challenging. I have been familiar with Marc’s artwork for many years, and over that time his painting abilities and technique have grown and developed, bringing his already natural abilities to an even higher level. Marc always remains engaged in the art community, and is also knowledgeable in art history. If you spend any time with him, you will quickly get to know his cheerful, fun, (and at times slightly eccentric) personality. He pushes himself to create artwork with a variety of different techniques to maintain versatility in his painting abilities, and this makes him well suited for teaching, because he will be able to help you with whatever you want/need to learn for your own paintings. I would recommend Marc to anybody looking to improve their painting abilities while also enjoying the learning process.

I have taught over 500 students how to paint! Each painting lesson is tailored to your interest and where you want to develop skill. My schooling background is in figure painting, modern painting techniques, color theory and composition. I have been trained by masterful painters from all over the world and look forward to sharing all that I have learned with you.

About Megan
In my paintings I am drawn to the timelessness of the human figure. I find people to be my biggest source of inspiration. This appreciation extends also to the students I am honored to teach. I never quite know where the painting will take us and what skills will be honed to match the inspiration the student has, but on many occasions we both are wonderfully surprised by the results. As a teacher I feel I am most useful when the lessons inspire. The technique will come with time but it takes inspiration to get there!

Acrylic , watercolor, and oil painting will be the focus of my lessons, starting off with basic technique building and understanding the materials. After the student can handle the materials, we will practice making paintings of still life, and move forward through painting subjects chosen by the student.

My lessons are practical and therapeutic. Art shouldn't cause stress! Let's make art!

About Madison
I am a recent graduate from Loyola Marymount University! Yay class of 2017! I received several awards from my University for my excellence in painting, drawing, and figure drawing, and have been shown in galleries in Los Angeles and national competitions! I have been teaching all forms of art since high school (dance, singing, acting, drawing) , but my recent focus has been art education.

Through my own education and experience in teaching, I have learned the most important concepts my students learn are 1) determination, or the willingness to move forward despite setbacks, and 2) the "actual" skills of painting, drawing, sketching, portrait art, still life, and figure drawing. These are all core aspects when creating a base for artistry, and can be implemented when choosing a unique style for oneself going forward.

In my lessons, a
fter choosing what individual goals you wish to accomplish, you will be training these skills while also engaging with the historical background of these skills, such as the great artists who practiced them and the reasons to practice them. My lessons range from intro level to advanced level, and are catered to the student depending on experience and age.

I look forward to creating art together!
