The Benefits of Taking Guitar Lessons in Santa Clarita

By Chris S. - Santa Clarita Guitar Teacher

Many people don’t realize the numerous benefits that guitar lessons in Santa Clarita can provide for children. Oftentimes, guitar lessons will supply an abundant amount of knowledge beyond just learning to play music. If you have the resources and ability to enroll your child in lessons at a young age, these skills can be expanded and improved upon for years to come. For many parents it’s surprising to learn all of the diverse advantages that guitar classes can offer. Here are just a few:

  1. Learn and Develop Fundamental Musical Skills and Theory This is, of course, one of the most obvious benefits. Guitar lessons for kids will lay the foundation of basic musical skills and theory not only for the guitar, but for many other instruments. Once your child masters the fundamentals of sheet music, he or she will be able to read and write music on their own. These lessons will also ensure that your child knows the correct way to hold and strum a guitar, as well as how to transition between chords. As the classes progress to higher levels, your child will be able to build on these skills and play full songs.

  2. Build Confidence One of the most rewarding results of guitar lessons for kids is the feeling of confidence that comes with learning something new or mastering a technique. When your child goes to class and learns a new chord or how to read a line of music, he or she will be very proud to understand this new piece of information. Your youngster will most likely express excitement and confidence by quickly demonstrating to you what was learned. Allowing a child to enjoy this new boost of confidence may even help in other aspects of life such as schoolwork and social situations.

  3. Enhance Learning Capabilities The process of learning to play the guitar involves memorization of scales, chords, songs and more. With the requirement of memorizing such a large amount of information, your child’s brain will constantly be tested, which will help improve learning capabilities. Your child can use these stronger learning skills to excel in the classroom as well.

  4. A Fun Environment As children progress through classes, they will develop a bond with the instructor and hopefully make great improvements. Building relationships associated with such a success will create a fun and enjoyable environment for your child. He or she will begin to look forward to the next lesson. These new skills can even be shared with friends, promoting fun outside of the classroom.

If your child has been asking to take guitar lessons in Santa Clarita, it is time to seriously consider enrollment. Remember that your child will gain so many more benefits than just learning an instrument. Guitar lessons for kids build and strengthen creativity, confidence and learning capabilities. These lessons will stay with them for years to come, making the investment well worthwhile.

Classical and Contemporary

About Joseph
Joseph R. has 5 years of experience teaching students elementary, middle school-aged children and adults on to how to play keyboard, guitar, flute and saxophone while sharing his learning experience with them as a self-taught saxophone and flute player and his more conventional education on piano and guitar.

Joe started developing his musical talent through piano lessons at the age of 7. After only a year of formal study, he began to experiment with other instruments such as the bamboo flute, the guitar and the drums. When he moved to the United States at the age of 13, he was introduced to the school’s band where he chose to hone his skills with the flute. Since then, he has been exposed to classical and symphonic repertoire. During high school, he joined the marching band and at the same time, found interest in jazz and alto saxoph
one. He decided to pursue a career in music by majoring in Jazz Studies and Performance at the University of California in Irvine where he has received his Bachelors degree in Music. He is currently performing at local jazz clubs, formal events and concerts. He would like to continue to inspire his students while nurturing his passion.

Joe is a great instructor. He has done a fantastic job explaining concepts in an understandable way, and utilizes a lot of computer tools to help the lessons, such as backing tracks. I would definitely recommend him as a teacher.

I've been teaching guitar since 2010. I have been playing guitar for 18 years, and have played professionally for 11 years.

Each lesson focuses equally on melody, harmony and rhythm. Through scales and melodies, chords and progressions, and strumming/picking patterns and beats, I teach students the foundation of music.

My goal as a teacher is to make each student capable of learning songs for his or herself, as well as creating their own music.

About Andrew
My name is Andrew G. I am a 28-year old guitar teacher who lives in Los Angeles. I have been playing guitar for 18 years. I have played professionally since 16 years of age, as a solo acoustic act and as a singer/guitarist in alternative, blues, metal and jam bands. I also have a degree in music from Northeastern University.

I teach beginners through intermediate and advanced players. I establish a working knowledge of equal parts melody, harmony and rhythm in my lessons. I cover blues, rock, R&B, folk, metal and jazz styles of playing. I teach students strumming, picking and fingerstyle techniques for both acoustic and electric guitar.

My passion for music is endless, and I love passing on what I know to my students.

My goal as a teacher is to instill enough knowledge, skill and passion in each student that they can ultimatel
y learn songs for themselves, as well as write their own music. I strive to inspire my students to challenge themselves musically and creatively.
