Students can start with me as a beginner or as an advanced student looking to learn new practice skills, new technique, skills, and bow strokes. Students work on scales, exercises for tone and coordination, vibrato, solos, sight reading, rhythm, audition music, and orchestral music. They get 2-6 opportunities to perform per year. I can teach a variety of music styles such as jazz, classical, romantic period music, 20th Century music, contemporary music, bluegrass, Celtic, Irish Fiddle, Scottish Fiddle, movie music, and popular music. I recommend many youth orchestras in the area that I encourage my students to join. Some of my students go to Italy in the summer with their orchestra. I can help you work on audition music for All Southern Youth Orchestra and All State Youth Orchestras and other Youth Orchestras. I go at the student's pace and also start out many beginners that have reached Suzuki Book 10 level.

Experienced teacher of 30 years available for eager students of all experience levels and ages. I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of classical skills. I specialize in classical music and provide multiple playing opportunities for my students throughout the year.

About Angela
EDUCATION

My musical education began while sitting on my mother's lap as she taught piano lessons. I began studying cello with a member of the Kansas City Philharmonic at age 9, and at age ten, I followed in my mother's footsteps to play the flute. I played all three instruments, (piano, cello and flute) until high school when it was became clear to me that I wanted to be an orchestra teacher. With this dream in mind, I began playing the violin as well.
I graduated from Drake University with a Bachelor's in Music Education in 1989 and again in 1999 with a Master's degree.

PERFORMANCE EXPERIENCE

As a youngster, I was the youngest member of the Kansas City Youth Symphony and the Kansas City Cello Choir performing with these two groups for eight years. I was chosen from applicants nation wide, to perform in Carnegie Hall and trav
el Europe with "America's Youth in Concert" and I was a three time All-Stater.

While attending Drake University, I played in the Drake University Orchestra and the Des Moines Symphony, and I was the winner of the Young Artist Competition awarding me the honor as featured soloist with the Drake Symphony Orchestra.
In 1993 I began playing with the Encore String Trio. This trio plays on a regular basis for weddings and receptions.
I currently play cello in the Encore String Trio, and viola in the Long Beach Community Orchestra.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

My teaching experience includes nearly 30 years of private teaching. I've had the pleasure of teaching all areas of music; elementary general music, band, choir and orchestra. During my 20 years of teaching orchestra in the public schools, I implemented many innovative opportunities for my students such as children's concert which drew more than 700 people in attendance, strolling strings, cello choir and a viola choir, all of which proved to be very motivational for the students. My goal of teaching is to make music fun for all.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe music should be fun. I provide you with several playing opportunities throughout the year, ranging from solo to group playing. I provide large group playing opportunities at Christmas and at the recitals. Every group playing opportunity is accompanied with food and games for all. This studio is FUN!

*** Lesson Details ***
Whether you are studying for recitals, competitions, a music career or just for fun, you can expect equal attention to technique and musicianship in your lessons.
Lessons will be tailored to each students needs which may include flash cards, supplemental materials, ear training, sight reading, technical studies, scales, and solo work.
You are never to old to learn to play an instrument. Over half of my students are adult beginners. Because of this, I provide group playing opportunities and I organize a solo ensemble contest for my students. This gives opportunities to the adult beginners that they missed out on as a child. You will have a lesson by yourself, monthly mini recitals in my studio, and you will have the opportunity to play orchestra music as a group all right here in my studio. You are guaranteed to learn how to play your instrument, have fun and gain great friendships here in this studio. I'm looking forward to introducing you to our studio family.

*** Studio Equipment ***
The teachers studio is in a large room with multiple windows for natural light. The room includes instruments and stands in the middle of the room.

*** Specialties ***
I use the Suzuki method books. I am a classical player and I teach classical music.

I started playing Violin at age five which lead me to study a bachelor of performing arts at WAAPA, Australia.

From there my music has taken me all around the world, playing in Orchestras in Australia, Europe and now America. The US government granted me an extraordinary ability visa in music, recognizing me as one of the best performers from my home country which allows me to teach and perform music in America.

I love passing on my knowledge to new students to help them grow as musicians, nothing is more satisfying to see someone learn how to play an instrument and watch them really enjoy the process.

About James
I started my musical career at the age of 2, on the piano, shortly afterwards moving to the violin, and the viola. Earning the music scholarship at school for best classical musician, and later on the scholarship for best orchestral instrumentalist at the world renowned music conservatoire WAAPA (West Australia Academy of Performing Arts). Earning my first diploma (A.Mus.A) at age 14, my music has taken me all around the world. I've played such places as the Australian High Commission, Rheingoldhalle in Mannhein, Dvorak hall in Prague, Australian embassy in London, Disneyland in Paris, and the opening the Australian embassy in Berlin, all before the age of 18.

Most recently through my many musical endeavors, I have been granted a visa of extraordinary ability as musician to enter the United States.

Since then I have lead the LADSO
viola section, played with the West LA Symphony Orchestra, played alongside Laryn Hill, a show presented by Quincy Jones, played in movie orchestras, recorded for studio sessions, performed electronic violin for private parties and nightclubs across the US.

*** Lesson Details ***
I have been teaching music since age 11. My mother is a concert pianist and I started off by teaching her students the violin. I have taught ever since and I love it. I have studied in Australia, Europe and the US.

I will help you create a fantastic technical base so you will be able to play with ease as your skill level develops, all while keeping the lessons fun and engaging.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Piano, Violin, Viola, Music Stand, General Teaching Aids, Recording Equipment.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide a music stand and basic materials but the student is expected to have their own instruments and to buy the music I recommend. I will help source and instruments and materials.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in classical music. I also teach other styles of music including improv, how to play pop music and can help you reach any musical goal. In Australia I used the AMEB syllabus. Which is the Australian examination system for music. I also teach Suzuki method and similar methods. I like creating a great foundation with a lot of exercises and scale patterns to really build up a solid base.

I teach the Suzuki method, but I also like to incorporate different styles of violin music as well, including fiddling and Celtic. I also teach music theory and how to read music. After the first lesson, I'll come up with a customized lesson plan to keep you or your child engaged and inspired to keep playing!

About Megan
I am originally from North Carolina and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I have been involved in music, theatre and dance since the age of 3. I also have worked with various professional children's theatre companies and run my own touring theatre company. I have been a Zumba instructor since 2011 and I have been a swimming instructor/lifeguard since 2003.

*** Lesson Details ***
I believe that learning anything new should be a fun experience. If it's not fun then you're more likely to get frustrated and quit. My teaching philosophy is that I want to know what inspires you and create lessons that will keep you or your children interested and having fun. I offer 30 and 45 minute lessons. During the first lesson we will figure out a personalized lesson and go from there.

*** Travel Equipment ***
For
violin students I expect them to have a proper size violin, shoulder rest and bow.
For beginner piano students you should have at least a 61 key keyboard, but an 88 keyboard piano is preferred.

*** Specialties ***
I'm very personable, very communicative and I work well with all ages.

Ms. Lee is the best instructor ever!!!! When I started taking lessons with her, I was blown away by how much progress we made in one short lesson! She helped me grow so much! She is everything you would see in a perfect teacher: Kind, compassionate, knowledgable, and has the most amazing personality! She knows exactly what to do for every piece of music that I learn, and teaches me new techniques in every lesson that I carry on to every ensemble I participate in! Going off to my university next year, I am sad that I cannot have lessons with her when I leave. But I know that she was the one who got me there, who prepared me for college level of music at a university ranked number one in the nation for orchestral music. She helped make me who I am today, and I will forever be grateful to have her as a tutor and a friend! and to whom it may concern, I promise you that if you pick her as your tutor you are making the best decision of your life!

I have been playing violin since the age of 6. One day I had to make the difficult decision choosing between violin and piano, because both instruments are very dear to me. I chose violin as my primary instrument for its lyrical qualities and closeness to human voice. At the age of 13 I won the Saint Petersburg Violin Competition and performed with the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic.
I am excited to share my love for this instrument with my students no matter what age they are. I see each person as an individual who has their own artistic voice and I will help you to further develop it.
I have won Gartoff International Violin Competition, Freiburg International Violin Competition, Dalhousie Solo Competition, Halifax Rose Bowl, Roosevelt Violin Competition and most recently competed in Schoenfeld International String Competition in Harbin, China, where my quartet placed 3rd. Recently I performed the Brahms Violin Concerto in the Symphony Centre downtown Chicago with Roosevelt ...

About Artem
Hello! My name is Artem Kolesov and I'm 22 years old. I'm a second year Masters student at Roosevelt University majoring in Violin Performance.
I am passionate about teaching because I believe education and willingness to learn is an extremely important factor for personal development and success.
I was born and raised in Saint Petersburg, Russia and underwent intensive training in Voice, Violin and Piano. After winning the Frieburg Intenational Violin Competition in 2010, I was offered a full scholarship to study music at Dalhousie University at the age of sixteen. After moving to Canada I had to go through a 9-month intensive english learning program, so I know first hand how difficult it can be to learn a new language. This experience helped me understand the struggles that any ESL student goes through and discover new ways to teach
my first language to others.
I am excited to get to know you and share my knowledge with you!
