No two students are ever alike. I've learned that using only one method may not benefit all students. Therefore, I use a variety of methods, some of which include Hanon, the Bastien Series, Suzuki technique for Piano and Violin, and countless others depending on what the student wishes to achieve. I have found that my most successful (and satisfied) students are the ones that express to me their specific musical goals, and then I am able to find a combination of methods to help them practice, rehearse, and refine their style of interest.

Lesson Style
Lessons are uniquely tailored to the students' goals, be it to become functional with an instrument or to dominate at an audition. We will go through warm-ups that will place emphasis on technique, explore various methods so that the student may decide which one gets them the best result, and then work through the repertoire not only for proficiency, but also for interpretation, precise yet passionate phrasing, and of course, to ...

About Michelle
VOCAL COACH
Rehabilitating and strengthening voices are two of my top specialties, and each lesson will have specific exercises tailored to helping you transform your voice into the highest and best version of your instrument. I work with singers signed to labels as well as the indie artist just starting to find his/her voice, style, and signature sound. My coaching approach incorporates some of the newest technologies that have shown extraordinary results in breaking down the inner blocks of each artist. It is a tremendously joyful and fulfilling experience to watch as my students really let their instrument shine brightly, boldly, and with an aboslutely stunning groundedness as they discover how powerful they truly are.

MUSICIAN/SONGWRITER/PERFORMER

Poised, energized, and armed with unforgettable performance ability, Michelle G
. is a firework in the artistic arena. Her training began at the young age of 3 with the violin, and a few years later received classes for piano and voice. Excelling in all three, Michelle developed a very passionate and dramatic personality that eventually led her to more dramatic genres such as opera and stage acting. Her aptitude to understand human emotions and relationships gives her a wide spectrum to play in as an actress. There is an organic flow to her interpretations both as an actress and musician that leads the audience to feel her emotional current. Her honest characterizations introduce deeper perspectives on what seems like the ordinary roles and storylines. Amongst the many other leads that she has played, her participation in roles like “Susanna” in The Marriage of Figaro, or “Donna Elvira” in Don Giovanni embody much vibrancy and integrity.
Through the development of her voice as a singer and actress, she has crossed over into other media such as voice over commercial work and vocals for pop/main stream music productions. She has recently participated as a vocalist and violinist in the albums of artists such as international jazz pop artist David Longoria, Latin pop singer Erick Bolivar, Grammy-nominated percussionist Souhail Kaspar, and American Idol’s Seysha. Over the last few years she has unraveled her musical skills as a songwriter/composer/arranger and has even had some small victories acquiring music placements on TV shows (NCIS, short film “Sumtin’ Like Dat”, The Dictator) for herself and some of her colleagues. Her singing can also be heard on the hit tv show "Jane The Virgin", "Castle" and "Shameless" amongst others.

Education
Michelle completed her Associates of Arts for Music/Music Education at the age of 18, and got later graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Miami with a Bachelor's of Arts for Musical Theater and Music Business, as well as from Florida International University with a Master's of Music in Vocal Performance.

I tailor my lessons to my student's needs, style, abilities, and goals. Learning is truly a fun and passionate adventure for me, and my enthusiasm has consistently been a contagious quality :) I love to challenge myself & my students to discover how immense their true potential is, and I create a safe and fun environment to explore such facets.

My curriculum is combination of solid tradition (Suzuki method for piano & violin, and Bel Canto technique for singing) interwoven with pop-culture, and modern influences. Within the first 3-6 months, my students will know the basic building blocks of music - which includes scales, arpeggios, triads, intervals, technique, and performance repertoire; and for my singers this will include proper breath technique, tone placement, support, very often increased vocal range (both high and low), and will feel significantly stronger vocally and more confident getting up to sing.

I strongly believe that, if every child would be provided with an ideal environment, would gain extraordinary ability. There are no exceptions. No one can tell how able man is by the nature. What is known is the ability that is spoiled or developed. It cannot be denied that most children speak their native languages beautifully by learning about 3000-4000 words by age 5 or 6. Nothing can clearer demonstrate of the original power of the human mind. Through the years of studying and teaching music I realized that this is the most important concept for developing each kid's talent, to increase his or her ability to the maximum. Therefore I am combining the great methods of teaching violin. The Suzuki method and the Russian school method. Suzuki method helps at the earliest stage of playing an instrument and I am using later Russian school method for more advanced period of studying.

After the first lesson, I'll come up with a customized lesson plan to keep you or your child engaged and inspired to keep playing!

About Megan
I am originally from North Carolina and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I have been involved in music, theatre and dance since the age of 3. I have been a Zumba instructor since 2011 and I have been a swimming instructor/lifeguard since 2003.

I believe that learning anything new should be a fun experience. If it's not fun then you're more likely to get frustrated and quit. My teaching philosophy is that I want to know what inspires you and create lessons that will keep you or your children interested and having fun. During the first lesson we will figure out a personalized lesson and go from there.

*** Travel Equipment ***
For violin students I expect them to h
ave a proper size violin, shoulder rest and bow.
For beginner piano students you should have at least a 61 key keyboard, but an 88 keyboard piano is preferred.

She is skilled in music theory and technique and really focuses on ensuring her students have the foundational skills necessary to build on as they progress. Hello, my schedule is now available to new students! I cater to the individual's needs while instilling the basics of violin. Every student learns in a different way, and I make sure to teach in the method that is most effective for that student. Because I perform so often, I know the necessary skills to teach violin practically and efficiently.

About Grace
Grace Rodgers, originally from Detroit, is a Los Angeles based violinist who enjoys a varied musical career spanning from classical to pop. Grace often works with current artists, and has been a part many studio recordings and live productions (Kesha, Lea Michele, BØRNS, Megadeth, Gallant, Sabrina Carpenter, and others.)

Grace earned her Bachelor of Music with a concentration in Violin Performance from Wayne State University under Dr. Laura Roelofs, where she was also an instructor for String Project @Wayne, a four year teaching internship with the youth of Detroit.

As an avid performer, Ms. Rodgers knows the necessary skills to make a great violinist. While she caters to the individual student's needs, Grace instills the basics in an engaging and useful manner. Ms. Rodgers specializes in finding out how a student best learns, an
d then utilizing the necessary tools to take that student to the next level in their performing skills.

I highly recommend Grace. When i was younger, I mastered a variety of musical instruments and played well into college. Learning the violin has always been elusive. I’ve had many teachers but now i’ve been progressing farther than before. I credit this to Grace. She has a well thought out lesson plan that challenges me while concentrating on the fundamentals and techniques. Some teachers are more forgiving on technique reasoning that it can be corrected at a later date. It’s best to learn it correctly at the beginning.
She is patient and communicates clearly. I enjoy her proper demonstrations. Her enthusiam is infectuous and her passion shines through.
She also teaches my 80 year old mother. It has always been somthing she’s always wanted to learn. It is not easy to teach anyone the violin, let alone an 80 year old. Her lesson plan and approach is quite different to mine but very effective. My mother is progressing well.
Among her teaching aids, she employs a traditional strings book, i find this comforting as it provides a familiar take and consistency. Before moving on, she checks and ensures proficiency and mastery of the previous lessons. Again, reinforcing the fundamentals and building on top of them.
Understandably, the price per lesson is a factor. I find Grace’s rates to be fair and of great value. If you really want to learn and have the violin be a part of your life, hire Grace because of her approach and skill and not based on pricing.
Without knowing much of what to look for in a teacher, i now know its; enthusiam, patience, undertanding, a well defined lesson plan, mastery of skills before moving forward, consistency, open communication and lastly, not taking excuses for sloppiness due to lack of practice. (She will encourage you to practice and you’ll get better which in-turn motivates you). She will not just let you get by but help you master the violin.

I'm currently a violin performance major enrolled at Fullerton College. I have experience teaching from ages 5 to mid 50's, and I have had many students who are beginners at the violin. It benefits me as a teacher to go back to the fundamentals of playing as it's the base for more advanced techniques. I am open to teaching all genres on violin.

I currently teach several hours a week to beginning and intermediate level students.

Furthermore, I have given masterclasses in the past and I am open to giving them at the student's school under the approval of the orchestra director.

About Tracy
I'm a full time student violinist attending Fullerton JC as a music performance major, where I was the concert master of the symphony orchestra my second semester.
I graduated from La Mirada High School in May 2017. During my junior year of high school, I started the music club where we would organize events called "art nights", displaying an art gallery along with musicians performing on stage in the quad. I've been playing violin for 8 years, and have given my classmates lessons in high school. I was concert master at La Mirada high school as well as the district honor orchestra (NLMUSD honor orchestra). I have also played in musicals for 4 years in the pit orchestra. After school, I would gather my friends to play chamber music in piano trios, string quartets, and duos. I have also played violin competitively in the SCSBOA solo/ensemb
le festival, earning a superior rating and making it to regionals.

Aside from giving lessons , I professionally perform at weddings, proposals, parties, church concerts, and banquets. Groups I've played with include the Dana Point Symphony, Symphony Irvine, and the St. Luke Symphony. My hobbies include swimming, enjoying the outdoors, cooking, and studying new languages!
