About Edward

Edward first became fascinated with the guitar at the age of fifteen. Before long he was putting bands together and looking for gigs. As time went on, his influences grew to include everything from classical to hip-hop to pop, but the one genre that that made the strongest impact was flamenco. H

Edward was very patient, emphasized technique, and moved at a pace conducive to learning. He went the extra mile to record and post videos of the music taught immediately following the lesson. Well done!

Good first lesson. Anxious to practice and continue learning!

I had a wonderful experience studying flamenco guitar with Edward and would highly recommend him to anyone. I came to Edward with a very specific problem of trying to learn the rasgueado technique in Flamenco. After spending the better part of a year attempting to learn via Youtube videos, etc., but to no real avail, I knew it was time to find a one-on-one teacher. Edward was experienced, patient, a great communicator, and made me feel comfortable during the lessons. He very thoroughly taught the technique and chose songs for me to practice that would help me to slowly build this ability. When I mentioned a particular song that I was interested in learning, he spent hours in his off time doing a transcription of it for me. A great guy and a great teacher!

Picking up a guitar for the first time (or the first time in a while!) can be very exciting! My hope is that with the help of some lessons you can enjoy playing guitar so much that you never want to put it down. This is why I like to keep lessons laid back and flexible. Lessons are tailored for each student to make sure everyone can have the best experience possible. Your goals are extremely important when it comes to lessons because everyone has different goals.

What are your goals for taking lessons? It could be learning to play your favorite songs, learning to solo, how to write your own songs, advice for playing live or in a recording studio, how to get the sounds of your favorite guitar players. The list could go on and on. Whatever your goals might be, I want to help you achieve them! I love most styles of music and I’m happy to teach most genres but some of my favorites are rock, alternative, blues, pop, and funk.

About Zack

I play guitar and write music in a band called Rosewood Coast, and I’m employed as a Contemporary Band Leader at a church in Cincinnati, Ohio. As a teacher I am very patient with students and enjoy helping them reach their own musical goals. I emphasize knowing the basics and encourage students to study music theory and basic reading of standard notation. I always ask my students to bring in songs they want to learn as a way to motivate them to practice more.

*** Lesson Details ***
GUITAR: I expect my students to practice at least 5 days a week for at least a 1/2 hour per day. I use the Suzuki method for young students ages 8 to10. We continue learning basic folk songs by ear and then start reading standard notation and basic theory within 6 to 8 months along with classical guitar duets. For older students I use the Hal Leonard guitar method. After 3 months of lessons students can expect to know the basic open position chords and strum patterns to some basic songs as well as some famous guitar riffs and also be able to read some basic melodies in standard notation. After 6 months students will be able to play a 12 bar ...

About Robert

I started playing guitar at age 11, taking lessons at the local music studio in Hackensack, NJ. I became heavily influenced by The Beatles after hearing their music and as a teenager played in local rock groups, having some success being in the bands Jona's Ark and The Yorkshire Pudding, opening fo

"Shon is a gifted multi-instrumentalist. Who has toured with Janet Jackson and Bruce Springsteen and many other artists. That combined with countless hours of studio recordings in L.A. Studios as a bassist, and countless other studios around the country. Shon is the consummate professional. Not only does he bring years of real world experience to everything he does, but he is also personable and great to work with on a project or a live performance. He's studied with Abraham Laborel, John Pattucci, Victor Wooten, and even has a bass given to him by the man who assisted in creating "the pocket" in Toto the late Mike Porcaro. He is a close friend and I am consistently inspired when I get to play music with my brother. You won't be disappointed. An investment worthwhile."

"Scott taught my daughter for maybe 6 or 7 years in our home. He always had an approach that included her voice in what and how she wanted to learn. I believe it was Scott's patience and kindness that helped her to stick with guitar for so long. She not only became an excellent guitarist, she was able to apply much of her learning to broader music theory and picked up other instruments including the drums. Scott feels like a family member now and we are all so grateful we found him!"

Spice Up Your Playing with these Essential Guitar Strum Patterns

Many guitarists have a tendency to focus most of their practice time and energy on left-hand fretting technique. Although the left hand is very important, mastering different rhythms and guitar strum patterns with your right hand adds a whole new dimension to your guitar playing. Understanding Guitar Strum Patterns Start by playing a simple chord progression. Ideally, you should be able to play through the chords without looking at the fingers on your left hand. Starting with a simple prog …
