Lets have fun jamming together whether we are going over the very basics, or diving into original song writing. As a professional singer in many genres, I can't wait to share my talents with you.

About Kendra
I have been immersed in music and the arts since before I can remember. The more I experience music, the more I want to share my knowledge and talent with people of all ages, from five year old kids to grandparents, complete beginners to professionals.
I believe that every person has a story, and no matter how small or big, music always plays a part, so here is my story.

I was born in the United States, but only lived here for 4 years before moving overseas to a country called Azerbaijan, where I lived with my family for 14 years. In Azerbaijan I studied at a private music and ballet school under the instruction of many well known Russian and Azerbaijani professional musicians, while also learning the language at the same time. After becoming fluent in Azerbaijani I continued to study music at home with my mother. She is a profes
sional flute player, but I chose to learn guitar and singing from her while still keeping up my studies in dance. At the age of 15 I had already performed singing and dancing on television and the radio many times.

When I turned 17 and graduated from high school I spent six months in Australia, Sri Lanka, and India, working with a non profit organization performing tsunami relief work. In India I also gained experience in teaching music and dance to large crowds of little children at the schools, orphanages, and relief camps I visited. Seeing the joy and life that these simple music lessons brought these children is what inspired me to continue studying music and begin teaching.

I turned 18 in 2005 and moved to Seattle to study music at Seattle Pacific University. I specialized in vocals and music technology, while also teaching lessons on the side in both guitar and vocals. During my four years in Seattle I played in several bands, and really developed my skills as a song writer and recording artist. After graduating with my Bachelors degree, I moved to San Francisco in 2009 to pursue my music there and teach children and adults of all ages.

Now I live in Venice California with my bandmate and fiance, where we are signed to one of the top management companies in Los Angeles. It was hard to leave my students that I had in San Francisco, but I am looking forward to having new students to teach and share my passion of music with here in Venice.

*** Lesson Details ***

Depending on the students abilities and personal goals, I create a unique curriculum plan for each individual, and adapt my own teaching methods to the needs of the student. I am a positive and outgoing person, and I use encouragement and hard work on my own part to motivate my students. I have experience in all different genres of music, and I guarantee that after taking guitar or vocal lessons with me for only 3 months, you will have gained confidence and improved leaps and bounds from where we started.

Lovely and wonderful!

Kendra is a wonderful instructor. As a woman trying to attain goals I made since I was a child, Kendra has done everything she can to instruct and teach me piano/music that is relevant to my objectives. She has taught me much more than just reading music and touching piano keys. It's been lovely to see her every week. I look forward to our lessons. Thanks so much Kendra!

grandmother to Lily

Kendra continues to be the highlight of the week for my 7 year old grand daughter Lily. I gave Lily singing lessons for Christmas, and she continues to get a gift each week as Kendra helps her make progress in a very positive and gentle way. Kendra keeps things moving with new songs every session and even changes things up with some keyboard techniques to support Lily's beginning to read music. This singing time with Kendra has been a wonderful overall experience. She is the BEST!

Singing is the most joyous expression of music and everyone should be comfortable doing it. And, everyone CAN do it!

I compose and orchestrate for theater (Glendale Center Theater, Vanguard University Theater Department), film/TV, orchestra (L.A. Jewish Symphony, TCOTW, BIOLA University) and album projects (Anna Nalick, Oodle's World Productions).

Singing credits include Jurassic World, Adele on the Academy Awards, Josh Groban's Stages album, High School Musical 1, Hairspray The Movie, High School Musical 3, Chris Kolfer'
s new movie Struck by Lightning, Atlanta Aquarium Dolphin Show recording, Boston Public, Who Wants to Be A Millionaire ad (New Wave Ent.), and The Drew Carey Show. Piano credits include American Idol finalist Stevie Scott, various other bands, Mastro's restaurants, and local churches.

Music education environments can be tense and intimidating, but that's what causes averse attitudes towards learning. Learning is hard, but it's also extremely rewarding and should build confidence along the way. With me, lessons are all about progress and not about criticism. We will maintain an organized and detailed set of personalized goals all along the way, and you will see your progress in all different facets of music, playing, and singing. With any instrument, voice and piano especially, staying relaxed is key. How can you learn to fly over the keys or soar into your upper vocal register when you are tense or worried about making a mistake?

I guarantee:

1) That lessons will be fun. Learning takes hard work, but it can also be fun. That's part of my job!

2) That I will never make you sing in a way that can harm your voice.

3) That you will be empowered with tools of knowledge about your instrument (voice/piano) and about music theory that will help you to be a versatile musician.

I expect:

1) That you come willing to try new things in a low pressure environment. This will lead to progress!

2) That you come prepared to sing/play.

3) That you or your child will make mistakes. That's what lessons are for! Commit to not making the same mistakes the next time, and ENJOY the praise and feedback you get along the way.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Real piano Bladwin Acrosonic, recording studio with Manley reference mic, keyobard, and guitar inputs.

*** Specialties ***
Classical piano technique for strength and versatility. How to read music and grasp music theory concepts for self-confidence and self-sufficiency as a musician in all genres including pop and jazz.

Singing of all styles. I teach the fundamentals, breathing, resonance, intonation, tone, and text-focused performance.

For writing music, I have extensive knowledge and experience with different forms/styles of classical composition for piano and all orchestral instruments as well as expertise in pop song structures and lyric writing.

Of all my instruments, I enjoy the act of and teaching singing the most.
It brings tremendous joy to you and your audience and is fun to learn at whatever level. I like to demystify singing as some people seem to have spent a lot of time over-complicating it. That's not to say there isn't important technique to learn and practice but only when it's coupled with real vocal freedom that all the great singers have used to their advantage.
I want my students to 'underthink' breath control so they can Let their bodies go on autopilot so they can focus on the performance instead of the technique alone, whatever their level.
I have been told I have tremendous energy as a singer and I'd like to be able to share with you how I achieve that so that you can do the same!

About Andrew
British born and Educated at London's prestigious Trinity College of Music and The Royal Academy of Music, my professional musical career has spanned over two decades to date. I have performed with world renowned acts such as Sia, Dave Stewart and Horace Andy, and have been a featured recording artist on many of the worlds most famous film scores while myself having authored or co-authored over 30 movie scores.
A Suzuki violin student since the age of 3, I added piano, guitar, singing and composition during my teenage years. The Suzuki method encourages advanced aural development from very early on and this has turned out to be my strongest suit. With my ear, I have impressed some of the most notable orchestrators, composers, directors and producers in London, Hollywood and the world over. In fact, it was these on the spot aural magic tr
icks that allowed me to impress the Hollywood composer that first invited me to Los Angeles to work on my first blockbuster. That opportunity led to many years of success in the industry and some notoriety.
I have always had a passion for teaching, sharing my knowledge with others and watching other people take immense pleasure in their own achievements. I have been told time and time again that I have a very special gift for teaching and I would very much like to share it with you, whether you want to learn an instrument, musicianship, ear training, composition, hone your vocal or mic skills or learn how to arrange an orchestral piece in just a few hours!
I look forward to talking to you about your specific needs and goals and having the opportunity to help you realize them in a fun friendly and authentic atmosphere.

I sought Gabriels assistance in preparing me for an upcoming vocal Audition and to help me work out the kinks of whatever bad habits i may have deveoped over the summer. He himself has an amazing voice and charming personality. It helps to have an instructor that has been through auditions to give you pointers. He has an amazing ear as well, so he catches things—like if you tighten up on a note—and is quick to correct you. Each class i have walked away learning something new, and having something previously learned reinforced. He is well worth the time and money. Very professional.

Chaz really focuses on the detail, theory and groundwork necessary to excel in music. If you are lucky enough to get your child started with him you will never regret the experience. He is simply the best! My son sings all the time now and loves to play piano. I am so happy for my son to have found someone to expand on his talents!
