Painting Lessons in Wittmann. Amazing Teachers.

My expertise is helping students develop a deeper relationship with painting and drawing while encouraging a dialog with the history of art and contemporary art practices.

Over the past ten years, I have taught a variety of painting and drawing courses. Having taught Painting and Color at University of Illinois at Chicago for a year during my graduate studies, I honed my skills as an educator. Teaching at Massachusetts College of Art Summer Programs between my BFA and MFA gave me the experience and skills to develop my teaching skills. My class is challenging and engaging for all students.

As my student you will learn very important basic to intermediate foundation knowledge of the painting process. This involves Color theory, canvas preparations (wood, Canvas and other substrate choices), Brush selections, Mediums and thinning, Paint storage and reusing. We will work on transferring ideas from still life or sketch to canvas. We will cover brush stroke effects, blending, highlighting and work processes for an efficient and most importantly fun workflow.

I want you to BE FREE! and be creative! I will help you have a creative goal and we will figure out a way to get you there! Either in 1 lesson or lots of lessons, there should always be a direction. I have many years of teaching art, sewing and technology to adults and children I want you to have fun and enjoy your experience and help you find your creative and artistic side....it's in there I promise!

Practicing Art teacher with over 15 years experience. Being a practicing art teacher means I practice what I preach! You can draw inspiration from my daily works and know that the skills and techniques I am teaching you will lead to a greater discipline in painting, drawing and conceptual works. I pride myself in connection and being able to know what to tweak and work on because I have been there myself, through self taught methods and a formal art education with my degree in fine art. I want my students to reach their artistic potential and aspirations while having a wonderful time!

I am a fine artist, and I am an art lover! I have taught art to kids and adults of all levels, and I have studied art for many years.
I love drawing and painting, going to museums, talking about art, and participating in group art shows. I draw and paint from life every day. I can help you to make your drawings more life-like, improve your color sense, or paint a scene that you picture in your imagination.
