I missed out on our very first lesson because I had written down the wrong date. I felt so bad but she was really nice about the mishap and even sent me an overview of the lesson plan. It’s been very easy to let loose more and more with each lesson. That’s not to say that these lessons are easy. I feel relaxed but always challenged : )
3. Sarah wants the best for you and is there to encourage, aid, and push you towards becoming the singer that you have the potential to be!
She is always asking for my feedback on whether or not the advice she gives helps me better understand the vocal exercise/warm-up. She is very creative and has me engaging with my mind and body when I sing, like visualizing air fill into my body as my rib cage expands, or squatting as I reach for a high note so that my mind isn’t intimidated by it.
She is always giving me tips throughout our lessons and reminding me about all the things I need to think about and engage with while singing – stand tall, feet planted on the ground, use our “singer’s breath (through the diaphragm), engage with the resonators in my head and chest and avoid those in my nose, etc. Sarah always references to and shares with me any tips she’s received through her own vocal teacher or what she’s learned through singing/vocal workshops she’s been to. She’s full of experience and knowledge!
4. We meet through Facetime but that doesn’t stop Sarah from being able to read my facial expressions and sense when I’m holding back. I'm still learning and struggling with our vocal exercises and she always senses my hesitation, so she would repeat them again until I’m ready to attempt them. She knows when I’m holding back even when I may not be aware of it myself, and she’s always encouraging me to be more confident with my singing and voice. I really appreciate that! Please know that the quality of the lessons are amazing! Sarah never fails to catch the times I sing through my nose, forget to breathe, and my incorrect vowel sounds.
Every lesson I’ve had so far with Sarah has been really helpful and fun and I’d seriously recommend her to any beginner out there that wants to learn about/improve on their vocal technique!!!"

My name is Sarah and I am honored you have chosen to look at my profile. Finding the right teacher is so important! I always try to make sure that I accommodate what is best for each individual student when I approach teaching. Before we get into my teach methods, let me tell you a bit about myself and my background.
I graduated from Lees-McRae College in May 2017 with a BFA in musical theater and a minor in art and design. I know at a glance it may be overwhelming how many classes I teach. You see, as Musical Theatre Major I had to learn a VAST amount of topics. I studied many forms of dance, took advance makeup courses, vocal training, acting, along with all of the sub categories that go with it; not to mention with my minor in art and design I know my way around with a paint brush/camera/computer. When I had my internship at the Arkansas Arts Center Children's Theatre and I had to learn ALL aspects of theatre and I had the pleasure to work with kids every day.
I was training American Sign Language at Northern Virginia Community College back in 2012. In 2015 I studied under an ASL master from Gallaudet University. I have continued to further my knowledge of ASL every day. I was recently the ASL captain at work who helped make sure all signs were done correctly and expressed properly.
My goal is to help you learn what you are craving to know! I try to not charge too high for lessons, I know that this is something that is for fun and is not always a possibility so I try to keep it at a lowish price so that everyone has a chance to learn. I am very flexible to schedules. I am willing to have a regular time or switching it up weekly; I have students who travel for a living so they are always on a different time zone; no matter the obstacle I will make it work for you!
Something that is great to know about me is that I never stop training, pursuing growth and knowledge. I read books in these various fields to learn more and more, take master classes, and train with my own vocal coaches. I think art - on any platform, is a great way to get out of your head, free your mind, and open up yourself. So this can be for professional training, a hobby you always wanted to pursue, or a dream you wanted to chase after.
In my class with you, or you child, I will make an individualized lesson plan that focus around what skills you already have, what skills you aim to improve/gain, and how you learn. I am very familiar with the fact that we are ALL different, which means we will all learn DIFFERENTLY. I am willing to explain something in as many ways as one needs in order to understand. I like to think of my lessons as a “safe place” to explore, have fun, grow, and be okay with making mistakes. We will always start with the basics, understand the core of the craft - for example in singing that would be our vocal anatomy and how it all connects together. I use props to help make the concept more visual and graspable as well as diagrams. This is not something someone will pick up in one lesson, so don’t come in saying “I can’t”, you can, you just have to learn HOW. I will show you the how. Remember, this is a learning process, we must embrace each step of our growth.
Some background of how I came to do what I do:
I have been working professionally for theatres for five years now; which has had me living in various towns in NC, OH, AR, and traveling nationwide for tours. I have a lot of experience under my belt for my years. I began taking performance classes as young as age 2 when I started ballet, then I began singing in choir in third grade. I started being in awe of sign language when I saw an interpreter working her magic around age ten and I asked my mom for a sign language book. Expanding my knowledge is what I do for fun, so when you pick me you pick someone who is constantly growing and learning more which will ultimately benefit the student.
I teach a variety of classes that, for the most part, circle around the arts! Some of my classes include, but are not limited to: Acting, Child Acting, Improv Audition Prep, Various styles of “Singing” classes, Ear Training, Musical Theatre, Music Performance, Various “Art” classes, Facial Exercises (Which is great for singers, and those who speak a lot day to day to help relieve tension in the face), and more!

I find a student's strengths and weaknesses using various ways to encourage each student. I am very patient, kind, flexible, and enthusiastic and I love working with children as much as adults. I strongly support basic skills: sight-reading, pitch and tone.
I have 25 years experience teaching kids and adults guitar. Also performing live and in the studio.

My objectives: to help students powerfully communicate through the essence of music and aid the development of children and adults by finding their strengths and weaknesses and to develop their skills and show their musical talents. I emphasize basic skills, good sight-reading, guitar technique, and theory.
Lessons are held at either your home, or mine using composers from various time periods that speaks to the individual student.
Also,I do prefer to work weekly with my students.
A beginner lesson may be 10-15 min. for warm-ups and scales, 10-15 min. theory and rest playtime. In three to six months the student will be able to read sheet music and should be able to perform simple songs.
An intermediate lesson has more focus on music and technique from a specific genre. A specialty is preparation for guitar auditions or doing live or studio gigs.
I enjoy teaching children from age 5 up to adults.

I've been playing guitar and keyboards for many years, so I've been somewhat cautious about approaching a professional instructor to help me "get serious" about the guitar. Like other players, I've run into overly pedantic instructors who take every player back to the beginning and teach the "right" way to play the instrument, but also the loose instructors who have no structure and can't deeply answer theory or technique questions.
Ahmad has managed to build a rigorous teaching methodology while still being fun and really engaged in what the student wants to learn. He's has compiled drawers and drawers full of prepared exercises and explanations, but he's looking to help me find the most helpful topics to work on rather than disregard what I already know.
I have a great time learning with Ahmad, because he knows an amazing amount about music, the guitar, performance, and recording. I throw questions about him about frets, intonation, tuning, chord naming, pick angle, string gauges, fingering, chord voicing. He's consistently humble about his knowledge, and then tells me everything I could want to know on the subject. When I ask about players I like, he's completely familiar with how those players play. It seems like half the time he's had my favorite players as his own instructors.
Best of all, Ahmad really loves music. He's genuinely thrilled at my improvement, and is very respectful of what I already know and how I already play. I've been playing the guitar for a long time, but Ahmad got me excited about making music.

I was self-teaching for about a year before I came to Ahmad. It worked out just fine. I learned something. But I started to get confused at a point where I don't know how to move forward. I like a very specific group of guitarist (mostly Japanese fingerstyle players). And I wanted to learn how to master songs from those guitarist. And there is no such website or book that would teach me how to do that. Most of the guitar books or websites either give out general informations or put all information together as a mess.
Finally I decided to find a teacher. I found the lesson with Ahmad pretty effective. He is an experienced teacher who knows what you need to learn in order to achieve your goal. He has plenty of handouts that really helps me practice. The most important thing I learned from him is the big picture of guitar learning. For example, I learned the connection between scales and chords, why/how to improvise with these, how to go from there to other relevant things, etc.
When I look back over a year, I realize I have wasted some much time and effort trying to teach myself and wish it could have similar outcome as having a good teacher. Studying with Ahmad saves me so much time and effort (because it's actually easier!)

Ahmad has been patient and understanding to my level of ability and has guided me to not only improve dramatically my level of playing, but also has taught me the basic fundamentals of music which makes me appreciate listening to and playing music more than I ever had. As an educator and supporter of vocal talents Maestro Valentin established “The Valentin Vocal Studio” in New York City and contributed with his vocal expertise to “pierStudios” in Manhattan. Valentin is also the Founder and the Artistic Director of Vocal Productions NYC Corp, Vocal Pursuits LLC and Vocal Productions Bulgaria. He continuously keeps helping young talents by regularly giving Masterclasses and Master Courses for all vocal genres around the world.

One thing that I enjoy the most, as a teacher, is seeing growth and seeing students get that “aha” moment. The most amazing thing about teaching is being able to see the joy in students as they perform. They get to be themselves. Playing an instrument or singing is raw, vulnerable and takes a lot of hard work.

While pursuing my Master's of Music degree I was selected to perform as a soloist and collaborator in numerous concerts on and off campus. I also received a Graduate Research Grant and published my Master's thesis while in attendance. My primary teachers have been Louanne Long and Dr. Shun-Lin Chou.
As a teacher I work towards the individual's needs, identifying strengths and weakness and learning modalities to create a specialized lesson plan to help the student excel and meet all their artistic goals. I focus on a holistic approach to education and not only teach playing and note reading but also rhythm, ear training, theory, performance practice and interpretation. It is only through a well rounded approach that one may truly master this craft. I have high expectations for my students and I know they have high expectations of me as well.
I teach out of my teaching studio in my quiet and private home where I have both a Schumann 6'3 grand piano and a Baldwin upright. Both pianos are very well taken care of and in excellent condition.
