I”m patient, engaging, and have a deep love of learning and communicating my passion for music. Even though I’ve performed professionally as a soloist with orchestras, I know what it’s like to be a beginner- I was there just ten years ago!

If you take lessons with me, prepare to see your progress skyrocket. I work together with my students to create objectives that will enthuse them and make them want to practice, and then break those down into micro-goals, so that they are going to see tangible progress every day that they pick up the guitar.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Having an ear for music of all styles and genres, I had an interest in playing music and instruments at a very young age. At just 5 years old, I took my first piano lesson. I studied with that piano teacher for another 10 years, working on technique, theory and classical music, including playing pi

I have taught private piano lessons for many years and I enjoy sharing my love of music with my students. I teach ages 5 to 80 and all levels. I emphasize sightreading, rhythm, musical expression, technique and music theory. Music theory includes chords and scales. The student is also encouraged to write their own songs. I use the Faber, Alfred and Bastien method books. When the student can read easy music on the staff, additional popular songs can be added. Intermediate and Advanced students can play classical pieces or other sheet music of their choice. The student has the opportunity to play in two recitals each year.

About Miriam

I have taught private piano lessons to all ages and levels for more than forty years. I prefer to teach in my home and in certain situations I teach in students' homes. If I teach in a student's home, there must be a piano or keyboard on the first floor of the home. For lessons in your home, you

"I chose to take up the guitar later in life (after retirement). I did not read music nor did I feel that I had any rhythm. William was extremely patient with me and brought me to levels that far exceeded my expectations. William has a rare ability to be able to put a person at ease and reduce their tension level. Sometimes it was through playing and sometimes through playing. He was able to read my apprehension level very well and seemed to always choose the correct method. I moved away from the area and thus far have not found a guitar teacher with the same abilities. Regardless of age or ability, I would recommend William to anyone. Were it not so expensive I would gladly fly back to Phoenix once a week to continue my lessons with William."

"Chris is a very talented trumpet player and educator, who I have had the pleasure of working with on a few different occasions. I am the Program Assistant for the USC Thornton Community Engagement Program, and Chris and his brass ensemble were a very valuable member of our program during his time as a graduate music student at USC. He performed outstanding music education brass ensemble assemblies for students ranging from 1st grade to high schoolers in the South and East Los Angeles. During these performances he not only taught and played at the highest level, but also showed great communication skills to students of all ages and adults attending the assemblies."

"My 4.5 y/o daughter is loving her weekly guitar and ukulele lessons with Robert. He is kind, patient, and "makes the lessons SO fun" (a direct quote!) In just five lessons, she has learned several chords, and can play a couple of nursery rhymes. My daughter is excited to practice at home, and is excited to learn more from Robert. I can't thank him enough for making her first experience with music such a pleasurable one."
