I'm passionate about music and have been over 19 years experience teaching the violin. I accept students from beginner to advanced levels and will help you achieve your goals whether you are wanting to learn the violin as a hobby, for school or pursue music as a career!

About Connie
I love teaching, and enjoy passing on that joy, knowledge, and experience to my students! I tailor lessons according to the student's goals, abilities, and preference in musical styles. Whether you're wanting to learn the violin to be a virtuoso or just as a personal hobby, I believe you should enjoy the learning process!

I am passionate about music and enjoy teaching aspiring students! I am active as a violin teacher, performer, chamber and studio recording musician in the greater Los Angeles area. I hold a Masters of Music Degree in Violin Performance from California State University, Long Beach and have been playing the violin since the age of four. I've enjoyed teaching private lessons for the past 18 years and have experience in teaching group and private lessons to students of all ages, coaching string orchestras and string ense
mbles. I have a broad education in music with knowledge of classical, modern, and world music, as well as advanced training in music theory which I incorporate in private lessons. I have also studied conducting, music analysis, music history, voice, and advanced piano.

*** Specialties ***
While I specialize in classical music, I help my students discover what genre of music they're passionate about learning, including classical, jazz, pop, and fiddle. Lessons include scales, technique, ear training, sight reading, music theory, solos, duets, music performance and the option to prepare for auditions and youth orchestras. I tailor the curriculum I use depending on the need of each individual student. Please contact me for up to date lesson availabilities!

***Repertoire***
Beginner to intermediate students use method books such as Essential Elements, Suzuki Method, and the Royal Conservatory of Music. For young students, I also use the Sassmannshaus Tradition, and the Violin Fun Book series. Intermediate to Advanced students learn technique using Carl Flesch scales, and studies from Shradiek, Sevcik, Mazas, and Kreutzer to name a few. Solo pieces including from composers such as Mozart, Franck, Bruch, Mendelssohn, Seitz, Bach, Handel, Beethoven and Vivaldi. I also encourage my students to explore other styles of music that interest them, such as pop, fiddling, Celtic, and movie music.

Experienced and enthusiastic violin teacher of almost ten years looking for students! Lessons are tailored to each student’s interests and learning style, while also developing a solid technical basis. Beginning students start out generally with the Strictly Strings method books and are supplemented by chosen songs as they progress. Most important to lessons is for the students to feel their forward momentum and enthusiasm for learning!

About Jessica
Expect fun and relaxed lessons with an emphasis from the beginning of establishing a love and appreciation for music while developing and polishing technique!

Hello! My name is Jessi H. and I received a Bachelor’s of Art in Music from Bryn Mawr College and a Master’s of Music in Theory and Composition from the University of New Mexico. Playing with other people is a great joy and throughout my schooling and afterward, I have performed in in orchestras, chamber ensembles, pit ensembles, and in collaborations with artists in other mediums. I began teaching violin lessons during my undergraduate degree and have maintained a private studio since then, which has been full of a wide variety of students and has branched out to theory and composition.

My intention in the first few weeks of lessons is to identify the goals of each studen
t and how best they learn. While familiar with most teaching methods, I prefer to modify my style of teaching to what is effective for each student. If the student is motivated by what we are playing, then skills grow exponentially faster. Students are encouraged to perform in spring and winter recitals to showcase their progress.

After three to six months, my students can expect to have a solid foundation in the subject they are studying, a start on the repertoire or subjects of their choice, and motivation to keep going!

Great Knowledge

Jessica has a fantastic knowledge of the violin. Not only can she explain the theory behind music but relate it to everyday examples. She has a fun personality too; so she makes understanding and learning the pieces fun and easy. She taught me to learn more, push my boundaries, and gain confidence while playing.

"Experienced violin teacher of 29 years available for eager students of all experience levels and ages! I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of classical violin skills. I specialize in Suzuki , and fiddle Celtic music etc...,

About Kelvin
I am a highly organized, outcome-driven and motivated professional musician and educator with solid experience in the classroom. For the past 25 years, I have been employed with Amati music academy and seven years on the faculty of University of St Francis.
I am very comfortable with all aspects of the current music syllabus, including teaching musical concepts (such as duration, pitch, dynamics, tone color, texture and structure) as well as performance, composition. I am fully qualified, with a Bachelor of Education in Music, Double Masters in music performance and education from University of Nottingham.
I am proficient in classical, jazz and Celtic fiddle violin and possess solid skills in piano (grade 8-13) Royal conservatory system.
Throughout my teaching career, I have been driven to help students achieve their very best. I str
ongly believe that music has the power to change lives – to enhance the social, cultural and spiritual lives of people, and serve as a profound medium of personal expression. Professional perform experience: The Chicago, Natalie Cole, Smokey Robinson, Three tours with Moody Blues, YoYo Ma etc....
The most important thing I look for in a student is communication skills, as well as talent. I like to nurture students and help identify their individual strengths, which is a key factor in shaping a musical persona that will make its mark both on and offstage. I do not advocate a uniform technique for all students. Physical differences and learning styles are always taken into consideration. Potential is as important to me as early achievements and experience. My goal is to help students become self-sufficient, discriminating artists. I discuss practice techniques often and develop individualized scale routines. I encourage initiative and expressive musicality as well as precision. Above all, music needs to bring obvious joy to the student, regardless of the difficulties.”

I have experience teaching students ages four through late 60’s, levels Pre-K through collegiate level. During my years of teaching, I have encountered and successfully instructed students of a wide variety of learning styles. From these experiences I have become adept at adapting my teaching methods on-the-spot in order to patiently, enthusiastically, and creatively introduce and reinforce concepts in a manner tailored to each student. In addition to equipping my students with proper violin technique and nurturing their musical integrity, my commitments as a teacher are to empower and assist my students in developing their communication skills and confidence, instill a lasting curiosity for learning, and foster a genuine love for the imaginative and expressive capabilities of music.

All of my students learn how to read music from the beginning of their playing. For addressing technique with young kids, I use fun pneumonic devices such as "pizza box hand," "flamingo arm," and "umbrella fingers," to help my students remember, identify, and visualize proper hand, arm, and finger placement. We practice note names and rhythm through singing and memorization games. With these activities, students practice at home on their own and advance weekly between lessons while developing a love for playing the violin.

Whether your child is a preparing for an audition for school, college, conservatory, a competition, or a complete beginner, I'll personalize lessons based on your/your child's specific goals and needs. I also accept adult students interested in picking up a new, rewarding hobby, or looking to improve their technique to join a community orchestra.

Please contact TakeLessons to hear more about my teaching philosophy!

*** Travel Equipment ***
Music Stand, lesson materials, rhythm flashcards, stickers, colored pencils

*** Specialties ***
I teach students how to read music and rhythms with quick effectiveness! This enables students to be independent during their weekly practicing and supplements their weekly progress.

Lauren is an excellent teacher for adult students!

At the age of 54 I decided to purchase a violin and learn to play. I found Lauren Cauley through Takelessons.com and could not be more pleased with her!! She has taught me so much in my first four weeks. She's patient with me and encourages me when I get discouraged with my play. She is quick to answer the numerous questions I have. She is an extremely talented musician with a talent for teaching. She pushes me in my weekly assignments and ensures I've mastered one level before we move to the next. Thanks Lauren!!

With 25 years of playing and performing experience, I've gathered a lot of knowledge to share! My main focus on the violin is in classical music and rock improvisation. In private lessons we'll take the time to improve intonation and tone, learn to read music, and learn proper technique. I think its crucial to challenge my students and push them to be their best and most importantly we'll have fun and play music that you enjoy because that is what learning an instrument is all about!

About Garrett
Hey! Let me tell you a little bit about myself. My name is Garrett Reynolds and I'm a professional record producer, violinist, and head recording engineer at the Electrokitty Sound Studio in Seattle, WA. I've been playing music since I picked up the violin at the age of 5 and I've continued to learn and grow in music ever since. Nowadays I am a graduate of the Berklee College of Music and a full time record producer at Electrokitty Recording. I get to work with all sorts of artists in the studio, from local indie bands to grammy award winning musicians on major labels. As a violinist, I have 21 years of playing and performance experience under my belt and I've been fortunate enough to tour the country with a handful of acts. As an instructor I take pride in sharing my knowledge with young musicians and seasoned pros alike. Wether you're l
ooking to pick up the violin and learn to play, or trying to figure out how to record your band at home...I'm here to help!

Garrett is a really knowledgeable teacher. He has really helped me improve my skills. I got lessons with Garrett in order to become more confident in my position as principle second. He helped me become a better leader and refine my skills further. Now I have better posture and are playing more properly. He is also a friendly and likable person. I don't like tutors with no personality because I get bored. Even though I have a busy schedule between work, cheer and school, we are always able to squeeze in a lesson somewhere. If you are busy like me and have an irregular schedule, Garret is your guy!
Overall, I am glad I chose Garrett as my Violin teacher because I've improved a ton since I've started lessons with him!

You are never too old to begin! I've worked with beginners of all ages.

Playing violin is about so much more than just classical music and scales! Although we love scales. Scales are how we show off how fast we can play. In addition to solid fundamentals of technique and musicality, I teach a broad range of styles including folk/fiddle, pop, and movie and video game scores. My daughter, Ada, was losing interest in her violin lessons and not making progress, so we signed her up to take lessons with Alex. This turned out to be the best decision that we could have made. Alex had excellent rapport with my daughter and was quickly finding important practice points for her to focus on. Even more important I was impressed with the multitude of solutions and exercises that Alex came up with to help my daughter get beyond her problem areas, and bad habits. On top of this, Ada was having fun, and was getting really motivated to practice. Alex’s attention to detail, excellent skill on the instrument, creativity with exercise ideas, and persistent yet friendly character were the perfect ingredients for a positive and productive music lesson experience. We would still be taking lessons with Alex if she still lived in our area for sure. (She is also an incredibly talented composer, which is a great thing for young musicians to learn about).

Alex is a truly gifted teacher. Teachers like her are rare especially when it comes to the arts. Not only does she make lessons fun but she also has the ability to put people at ease. Alex is also great at teaching those with learning differences. I Have extreme learning disabilities along with visual perceptual processing difficulties and thus have many blocks in place when it comes to learning things such as theory. No matter how long it takes me to understand something Alex is ever patient never giving up on me never getting frustrated with me. She has found many ways around many of the blocks that I have with theory. When I first began lessons with Alex I couldn't clap or count rhythm unless I had the main part. Since taking lessons with Alex I am now able to count rhythm better when I am not the main part. I would highly recommend Alex to anyone looking for a great teacher!
