About Curtis

I'm a friendly and patient person who strives to be really encouraging towards the student's education. I believe a good teacher will make a huge difference in the learning process. I was born and raised in Northern California. I first began studying guitar with Musicians Institute alumni Scott Allen. After three years of private lessons, I attended and completed my training from Musicians Institute(G.I.T) with a certificate in guitar performance. At the Musicians Institute, I was instructed by Keith Wyatt, Ernesto Homeyer, Scott Parker, Al Bonhomme, Greg Harrison and Daniel Gilbert (just to name a few). Along with learning the standard curriculum of Musicians Institute, I performed in many styles such as Blues, R&B, Pop, Rock, and Metal. *** Lesson Details *** I like to develop a ...

Didier B. Concord, CA

About Didier

My music education began at age 8 when, after a year of pestering my parents, I got my first guitar. My self-taught forays began casually at first, until I was introduced to the likes of Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton (the Cream years) and then later, Frank Marino, John McLaughlin, Al Di Meola, and Allan Holdsworth. By age 15, it was "all about the guitar: eat-sleep-school-guitar," with many countless hours burning the midnight oil, deciphering the solos of my heroes. I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area after high school and began studying guitar under the mentor-ship of virtuoso Marc Bonilla (who has worked with such luminaries as Ronnie Montrose, Derek Sherinian, Keith Emerson of Emerson, Lake and Palmer, and Glenn Hughes of Deep Purple). Bonilla has since moved to L.A. to pursue an ...

Ken is an awesome teacher and an great person. He teaches my 5 year daughter and she loves his lessons and his jovial approach. Within 4 weeks, she has picked up a lot of things and is improving day by day. He is patient as you ought to be with the kids and yet persistent enough to stick to the task.

I am really looking forward to them picking up songs in the coming lessons. I will recommend him anytime and completely vouch for his credentials and ability as an excellent guitarist as well as teacher.

Sarah N. Elk Grove, CA

About Sarah

I received my BA in music from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. While the school is not well known for music, the program stressed being as well rounded in as possible with a "Learn by doing" attitude permeating every class. I believe that this attitude is essential to all musicians, regardless of what style they are interested in. No matter if you wish to sing pop or opera, the basics are the same. I emphasize singing in a healthy manner and taking care of your voice. I also believe that most people are capable of singing well. I have been involved in several Opera scene performances, most notably performing the role of Lucia in the Mad Scene from "Lucia di Lammermoor" and the Marschallin in the finale of "Der Rosenkavalier." With this background, I can help my students learn how to ...

Amazing Teacher. Kind, Caring, and Witty :)

I took lessons with Sarah for a couple month before moving to another city, and I wish I could have taken her with me! I'm a beginner singer that loves singing all generes, but really believed I was a hopeless cause when it came to singing. Sarah worked one on one with me to teach me proper breathing and exercises in order to keep my voice healthy and within a couple weeks I already saw improvement. She was patient to work out the bad habits I had picked up before I started taking lessons. I highly recommend Sarah. My voice and I thank her :)
Teresa P. West Sacramento, CA

About Teresa

I was born into a family of musicians. We must have had every style of music floating around every family gathering. I would roam with delight among the Mariachis, Rockers and R&B singers and musicians in my family. As early as 3 or 4 years old, in an effort to get me to quit bugging them, they began to invite me to sing with them.... at least that way I wasn't twirling around knocking down their equipment, or asking a bunch of questions while they were rehearsing or jamming. Music was always and continues to be part of my existence, as normal to me as breathing. I love to sing and enjoy sharing that passion with others. It makes my day to see my students grow in their talents and confidence. From beginners who just want to sing for fun to the more experienced vocalists, I can ...

I am very lucky to have Teresa as my vocal teacher. Her passion for music is contagious and when she sings, her soul comes through. She's patient, encouraging and energizing. I love lessons with her, she truly cares for all of her students and she adjusts the lessons based on how comfortable you feel. Not only is she a great teacher but she also has an amazing personality and a tremendous amount of energy.

Within a few months, my vocal range has extended and I learned how to make my voice sound more powerful. Vocal training really doesn't get any better than this!

Wow! Nothing but an amazing experience with Teresa! I had absolutely zero past singing history and in just a couple months I'm comfortable singing in church and in front of other people. She's quick to adjust to my needs, like if one exercise isn't working for me she'll come up with a new one that works better. I like that we spend part of our time doing exercises and the other part we sing songs. She has slowly but surely weaned me off singing with her so that I sing by myself now. She's always encouraging and uses kind words even when she's giving me ways to improve. Teresa is flexible with my schedule too which I really appreciate. I never thought singing would be so much fun!
