I'm a friendly and patient person who strives to be really encouraging towards the student's education. I believe a good teacher will make a huge difference in the learning process. I was born and raised in Northern California. I first began studying guitar with Musicians Institute alumni Scott Allen. After three years of private lessons, I attended and completed my training from Musicians Institute(G.I.T) with a certificate in guitar performance. At the Musicians Institute, I was instructed by Keith Wyatt, Ernesto Homeyer, Scott Parker, Al Bonhomme, Greg Harrison and Daniel Gilbert (just t

Caitlin C.

Winters, CA

About Caitlin

I am a professional violinist and violist living in Winters, CA, frequenting Sacramento and the Bay Area. I have a passion for performing many different styles and instruments and want to share that with my students! Nothing makes me happier than igniting the drive for music in my students and seeing what music can do for them. I have Bachelors and Masters degrees in music performance from the University of North Texas and the Eastman School of Music, and I am Suzuki trained. I have spent most of my life surrounded by Suzuki teachers and students and am very comfortable with the method! I also
love to teach with the traditional methods and am willing to find what works best for each student individually. It is most important to me that the lessons are fun! I find that everyone learns best when they are engaged and truly enjoying themselves. Each and every student should be able to experience what learning music can do for them, and I wish to pass along my knowledge and passion in every lesson.

*** Lesson Details ***
Expect lots of questions! I love to engage my students by asking them questions about their own playing. We learn together, solve problems together, and play together. The lessons are about YOU. I am willing and able to change my teaching style based on what will yield results most efficiently and with the best quality. A lot of my teaching is done with the Suzuki violin books. If there are any specific songs or pieces you want to learn, we can make that happen! In our first lessons, we will decide together your personal, individualized goals and how to achieve them the best way.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I have my own instruments and teaching materials/books. I supply tape for fingerboards and bows as well.
I expect students to have their own instruments and to buy the music books (most likely Suzuki) that we use in their lessons so they can practice.

*** Specialties ***
I am Suzuki trained and can teach all levels in the Suzuki method. I can also teach traditionally, without Suzuki method if the student/parent prefers. I also specialize in Baroque performance practice, and can teach Baroque violin, baroque viola, and viola da gamba.

Being the parent of a 5 year old daughter, my wife and I were quite careful on choosing what we considered to be a good violin teacher, especially given the fact we would be bringing this person into our home (in-home lessons). From the beginning Caitlin demonstrated being capable of teaching a child, making every effort to make classes fun, and to encourage our daughter to practice. Her professionalism, patience and dedication were visible in all her lessons. We were quite sad to hear she was moving outside of NY. Searching for a new teacher proved quite difficult as she set the bar quite high.

In summary, Caitlin not only met, but exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend her.

Colin G.

Fairfield, CA

About Colin

UCLA Herb Alpert School Of Music Grad

Music Outreach Scholar

Ascap Foundation Scholar

GLUCK Fellow

Colin James G. is one of the most decorated and progressive young music educators in California. He has taught hundreds of students in schools both public and private institutions all throughout California. He is now pleased to be offering private lessons to a limited number of students.

Colin recognizes the individuality in music and in musicians. Therefore, in order for a student to really absorb the most from his lessons, he forms highly structured lessons plans tailored sp
ecifically to the students needs, while still maintaining the basic curriculum that every musician needs to know. The skill level does not matter: from beginners to advanced levels, there are things Colin can teach a student to elevate their drumming to the next progression. Equally as important, Colin always maintains a very exciting and encouraging environment for the student to grow and become their best, because at the end of the day, a teacher is supposed to provide the inspiration so that the student can end up teaching themselves.

Gabriel is a very knowledgable instructor. He taught me how to use Logic Pro X among other music software and I now feel competent on these programs. He taught me a lot, but also gave me enough room to figure things out on my own, which is very valuable. I highly recommend Gabriel is you are looking to learn Logic Pro X.

One of the best piano teachers I've had. He is very patient, knows a lot about music in general, and he always brings good energy to the class. I've learned very nice songs that he has taught me, and also he gives me the option to choose the song I would like to learn (if it is in my level -medium). The fact that he is doing his Master's in Music Composition makes the approach of learning piano quite interesting. I definitely recommend he as a piano or composition teacher.
