I have been a professional singer since 1983 and have taught since 1986. I studied voice and trained classically from 1972 - 1982. Several of my students have been professional singers, from rock to opera. I teach the individual to understand the technicalities of the vocal instrument; how to breathe correctly, understand the internal acoustics and how to access them, how to project healthily, how to relax and get out of the way of using your instrument, and so much more. This is not your typical voice curriculum, but even more essential if you want to keep your voice in top form all your life. At 67, I can sing with or without amplification for several hours a day indefinitely because I have mastered the techniques I will teach you.

About Barbara

Singing is my life! I trained classically from 4/1972 - 4/83, then continued concentrated self study for 5 years. I sang for Voice of America and National Geographic Explorer specials before becoming voice coach for the MD Renaissance Festival. I have sung professionally since '83 and have taught

I've had experience working with both beginners looking to sing for enjoyment as well as coaching aspiring professionals to refine their craft and move ahead with career goals! I tailor lessons according to your goals while also helping you discover and fulfill your maximum potential. I establish and maintain a calm, safe space for us to explore your voice without pressure or judgment, and encourage your insights and creativity.

I also emphasize the importance of overall musicianship for singers so that they have deeper understanding and appreciation for their musical selection. This can include learning to sight sing, transposing songs to your correct key, accurately communicating preferred tempo and rhythmic feel to other musicians, writing charts in order to work with live bands and so on.

About Rachel

A graduate of Duke Ellington School for the Arts and the prestigious Berklee College of Music, Rachel Panay is a 6 time Billboard Club charting singer/songwriter in the Dance music genre. She recently returned to her musical theatre roots appearing as Rose in Theatre Lab's production of The Secret

Rachel knows her stuff but I felt like she was rushing our lessons or cutting them short for the next student. The lessons were also generic and all we did was warm-ups. She'd promise we'd get to the song next time but we never got through the entire thing after five lessons and there was no progression.
Brian
Piano lessons with Rachel were a gift from a friend and it has been one of the best gifts I’ve ever received. From day one I knew I had the right teacher because of how she responded to all of my questions of “why”. She appreciates and feeds off of my curiosity which in turn nourishes and excites me. She explains the theory and why music works the way it does. We’ve even dabbled into voice a bit. Continuing piano lessons with her has been the best thing I’ve done this year and I’m looking forward to many more lessons.
John
Rachel is an outstanding piano teacher -- especially for adult students.

As an exceptional teacher, she knows exactly how to motivate a student by making the subject both fun and rewarding. She knows music theory so extensively that her lessons are more than simply about playing keys on the piano. My understanding of the piano is so much richer because she presents every lesson in the context of theory.

Rachel is particularly adept in tailoring a piano program around the student's interests and learning style. This has made the lessons fun as I quickly learned to play songs that interest me.

I would recommend Rachel for any student -- young or mature -- who is interested in learning to play the piano as a lifetime skill.

My son is a BEGINNER beginner. Rodrigo is a very nice guy and seems to know his stuff very well. I would give him 5 stars but I don't think he realized that my son needed the basic, basic 1st lesson (i.e. how to hold the instrument). We've only attended one session so this is fully based on that one lesson. I'm sure he'll adjust his teaching from here on out.

I am a voice and acting teacher specializing in musical theater and pop rock and other commercial forms of singing. I focus on breathe work, increasing range, and freeing the natural voice to focus on correct technique whether the student is belting pop or using their legit soprano. I help performers fuse their acting and singing but can also focus on one aspect if the student so chooses. I work with many students on college auditions and thespian competitions as well. I teach all ages up to adults since I am also adjunct faculty at a college and have experience in teaching at the university level. I am a performer myself having worked in Philadelphia, Boston, and all over South Florida.

Melanie is an absolutely incredible vocal teacher/coach. I noticed a change in my voice after just the first lesson. Her vast knowledge of the anatomy used to create vocal sounds combined with the techniques she teaches has definitely improved my voice. She taught me how to belt and showed me the difference between my belt and my mix, which was beyond helpful. She also taught me how to sing in my head voice in a healthier and more effective way. And on top of that, she has a mental library full of great song recommendations for my individual voice. Can't wait until our next lesson!

"So rewarding!

My 14 year old daughter, Rachel, has been taking voice lessons with Nancy for almost a year. We believed that Rachel had native singing talent, but we have been amazed and delighted with how rapidly her voice has developed under Nancy's tutelage.

My spouse and I are not the only ones who are pleased... I am including here an excerpt of a social media post Rachel recently wrote: "About two years ago, my parents, my sister and I sat down on the couch to watch the TV show “X Factor”. A girl named Rachel Crow came on and sang, admittedly, beautifully -- bringing my dad to tears. In a fit of uncharacteristic jealousy, I lashed out and screamed at him for liking her singing better than mine, singing being something I enjoy immensely. I sing every chance I get! I made it my goal to sing so well one day that my dad would cry as a result. About six months ago, I started working with a singing teacher, Nancy. I progressively have gotten better and my voice is more controlled. Fast forward to tonight, during an awesome evening with some family friends. I sang "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" for them, a song I had been working on with Nancy. And… I did it! My dad cried as a result of my singing! I know it sounds small, but I was incredibly excited and I needed to share it!”"

"My 10-year-old has been taking voice lessons with Meghan for a year now, and she looks forward to every lesson! She is patient and great with kids. I was able to observe some of the lessons and I thought Meghan was extremely knowledgeable, she gave constructive feedback, and played to my daughter's strengths and natural abilities. My daughter can sing much higher than she could before, and her confidence has really blossomed! I would highly recommend lessons with Meghan!"

"I'm a 55 yr old female that hasn't taken voice lessons in the last 20+ years. From that time until recently I would just do karaoke off and on. I started taking lessons with Tanisha about seven months ago. She is the absolute best thing that has ever happened to my voice. Initially I just wanted to learn how to use my "alto" voice more effectively. I avoided singing soprano songs because it was very uncomfortable and it didn't sound right to me. But to my surprise Tanisha convinced me that I am in deed a first soprano. She started working with me on my singing with much attention on my upper range. Thanks to Tanisha, for the first time in my life I have started feeling like a real singer! She has truly taken me places vocally that I could have only dreamed of going. Even when I sing lower it sounds tons better. I practice consistently because I'm so excited about all of the progress I have made in just a seven month period. And I am just blown away that I have those high notes now! When it comes to the voice Tanisha is definitely a miracle worker! On top of that she has this bubbly personality and from the day that I met her I felt like I've been knowing her for years. She's like a new best friend!"
