Watercolor painting has a way of showing emotion and expression. The most fabulous thing about being an artist is that boundaries regarding creativity are non-existent. The artist is always in a state of learning. Art is a progressive practice that takes time to develop.
Students will be introduced to the color wheel, basic materials needed, perspective, and the differences between realistic and impressionistic painting techniques.
Materials are not included.
Watercolor painting lessons will be assessed based on the individual's current abilities and their goals.

Painting and Stage Design from Moscow Art School
Private Watercolor Painting Teacher
I am an artist - painter, scenic designer and mural artist.
I also teach art for more than 10 years.
I graduated with a Master Degree in Painting and Scenic Design at Moscow Art School, Russia.
I teach different painting media including oil, acrylic, watercolor. As well a drawing media - crayon, charcoal, pastel, etc.
Beginners and advanced students are welcome. I also prepare students who dream about Art Schools and professional career.
I have two approaches.
With my advice, students choose media, style, subjects and work under professional guidance.
Or, I teach the classical path to visual art, which requires a more structured approach.
Discussions and references to art history, an important part of the class.

Boris undoubtedly is a marvelous teacher and educator for those students who want to go beyond mechanistic approaches to the drawing and painting, willing expand their ways to ‘perceive’ the visual art. Boris has unique talent to deliver information and instructions in a concise and clear manner aided with his unlimited patience and politeness. Self-trained hobbyist in watercolor, I never took formal classes before; being engineer by trade, was a bit uncertain if we can get along smoothly due to big gaps on my side. That doubt disappeared after just couple of our meetings. Boris has adapted to my needs well above my expectations by giving just right amount of elements of classical academic disciplines - which I personally was looking for - such as perspective, composition, light and color, forms, constructional drawing.
My initial interest was to work in acrylic for landscape painting from photographs on a medium sized canvas. Boris’ suggestion to start with still life painting (completed as the very first project) was a saver for the ongoing mountain depiction project, relatively complex. I am gladly satisfied with his guidance, solution proposals, and corrections – I like the friendly atmosphere in his studio and "behind-the-scene" explanations why he thinks this or that could be made more professional. My painting perception is also growing because of art history studies I do at home following talks and lectures Boris gives during our classes; I like to review and study illustrations in books and online materials that he recommends – now I know much more about famous artists and major directions in visual art and art advances throughout the centuries.
Standing shoulder-to-shoulder to advanced, really experienced artist, is a stirring feeling and thanks to Boris’ soft skills, I can tell I am respected and taken care of. During 2019 spring break I brought my 15yo son for 4 master class sessions at Boris studio, and they have finished a pretty looking painting on 18x24 inch canvas in acrylic on an extraterrestrial planet theme; which has significantly promoted my son’s interests both in art and astronomy. My son enjoyed talking to teacher, our time was worthy spent on ‘painting bootcamp’.
Boris gives memorable, highly narrative hands-on sessions on color blocking, shading, underpainting, color mixing, value and tone balance solutions, one-line drawing, composition, and many more. I feel I am back to a good school where I do acquire my new painting skills at a rate I can control.
I strongly recommend Boris to both kids and adults.

I am an independent professional visual artist, with over 20 years' hands on teaching experience in U.S. and abroad.
At the age of 13, I began learning how to paint with my father, who is an established artist, in an informal studio class. Later, I decided to pursue higher education in fine arts and received my BFA and MFA degrees. While working on my Bachelor’s degree, I began teaching in schools and later in my private studio.
My expertise is to help others to discover their special talent, as I believe every person has a unique sense of creation. As an experienced art teacher and mentor, I have always provided a solid education for every one of my students and I have demonstrated an ability to engage students from diverse academic backgrounds and age groups.
My goal is to develop an understanding of and enthusiasm for arts in others by addressing different learning styles. I demonstrate both traditional practices and contemporary critical and technical approaches to painting.
