Ace your Biology class with the help of a UC San Diego graduate (B.S. Biochemistry & Cell Biology)

My tutoring process revolves around 4 central components: knowledge, empathy, honesty, and humor. This allows me to build a relationship with my students, so that I can understand who they are and adapt my tutoring style to best fit their needs. We all learn best in different ways, and my job is to help you figure out how you learn best so that we can create the best study habits to help you succeed academically. During my AP Biology lessons, I go above and beyond in breaking down the complex topics to simple and easy to understand for my students. I also engage my students in active learning, through my experience, I've learned that engaging my students in active learning doesn't only improve their understanding of the concept but it also increases their confidence. Lastly, through my many failures and successes as a student myself, I have found it is best to take one step at a time towards learning a difficult subject and being especially patient as we build the critical-thinker/problem-solver in you.

    About Yazmin A.

Welcome to A's Biology, Chemistry, & Spanish "ABC&S" Tutoring! I am a graduate from UC San Diego with a B.S. in Biochemistry and Cell Biology, and a minor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. During my undergraduate career at UCSD, I worked for the Early Academic Outreach Program (EAOP) as a tutor/mentor serving local middle school and high school students in the San Diego Unified School District. Throughout my 4 years of tutoring at SDUSD, I developed skills to help my students achieve their goals - from improving their grades, to preparing for standardized testing, and everything related to college admissions (UC/CSU applications, FAFSA etc.). I have also worked with incoming college freshmen to help them succeed in the complex university system - from helping them develop effective study skills, to class scheduling, and balancing extra-curricular activities. In short, my ultimate goal for my students is to help them hone in on their learning styles, and develop strong study skills that will help them retain what they learn. To see if my tutoring service is right for you, I'll briefly share my approach. My tutoring process revolves around 4 central components: knowledge, empathy, honesty, and humor. This allows me to build a relationship with my students, so that I can understand who they are and adapt my tutoring style to fit their needs. Learning STEM is very hard, through my failures and successes as a student, I have found it is best to take one step at a time towards learning a difficult subject and being especially patient as we build the critical-thinker/problem-solver in you.
