English is a subject you will use throughout your life. Let's improve your skills!

I have been teaching professionally for over 18 years. My experience is mostly with high school students, but I am certified at the middle school level as well. Depending on student needs, we can work on grammar, punctuation, writing skills or literature. I believe English is a subject in which everyone can have success. I have various ways to present information to ensure students are truly able to grasp concepts and apply them outside of the classroom. Are you ready to start your journey to improve your English skills?

I am an imaginative English instructor, who taught in a public school classroom for over 17 years. I am committed to making sure my students have a positive learning experience. While not everyone will love English, my goal is to help students at least form an appreciation for this area of study. I also work diligently to create a learning environment in which students feel comfortable sharing their thoughts, asking questions and forming their own opinions. My strongest subject areas include middle and high school English, college speech making, and college level introduction to literature. I earned my Bachelor's of Arts in Literature at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee. I began my teaching career at Hillsboro High School in Nashville, Tennessee where I taught for 3 years. In 2010, I obtained my Master's in Education: Literacy and Language from Kaplan University. I taught English, speech, and Introduction to Literature at Hotchkiss High School from 2001 - 2014. In 2014, I made the tough decision to leave public school to homeschool my daughter, which I am still doing. During my time homeschooling, I have continued to keep my teaching license valid and have had the opportunity to teach part - time for Colorado Northwestern Community College and Vision Charter Academy. I look forward to meeting you!
