My mother was an English teacher who would speak French and Greek to her friends when she didn't want me to know what was said, so not only did I grow up speaking English very well but I took an early interest in other languages. I speak fluent French and can get by in a handful of other languages, so depending on your native language I might be able to meet you halfway if you're struggling to find a word, or explain etymologically how a word might have a common root with one in your language to help you remember it.
This background allowed to me to test out of all language requirements in college and put those skills to use writing about things I liked. I graduated Vanderbilt University with a degree in Film and Music and started teaching in 2014. Shortly thereafter I started a career as a freelance writer and voice actor, and have been trained by some former stars of Pokemon and South Park, as well as screenwriters and dialecticians. What that means for you is that in my life outside of teaching, it's my job to make words someone else wrote sound like I just thought of them and am saying them for the first time, often in a foreign accent, and I can use those same skills to help you sound like a very natural, native English speaker as opposed to someone who learned out of an old textbook.
