Educated? B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies, M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction, concentrating in Math K-12 Certified? Generalist EC-6, Math 4-8 Experienced? Over 8 years of teaching/tutoring in elementary and middle school, Campus Science Facilitator, Mentor Teacher for student teacher, Curriculum Writer I believe the fact that I was both a "not-so-great" student and a student who was in a National Honor Society, Kappa Delta Pi, is why I can both relate to students as well as be a successful educator. Growing up, I did face some struggles in school, yes, academically but my lack of motivation seemed to be what really hindered my education. This is why I am so thankful for the teachers that I had in my life that really motivated me to better myself and believed in me enough to allow me to believe in myself. This is exactly why I have the teaching philosophy that I do. Once I had that motivation back, I became a better student with better study skills and my grades improved. This positive change became even more apparent during grad school, when I graduated with all A's. My personal experiences with teachers making a positive impact on student's lives and the knowledge, and experience, of how to be a better student, is why I am such a successful educator and have such positive successes with my students.
