Hi, my name is Stacy! For 4 years, I pursued a BS in Computer Science as part of my goal to become a video game developer. I received the Stephen P. Hepler Academic Award in Computer Science, the most prestigious award in the CS Department at Wayne State University. However, before I could finish my degree, I injured my hands from typing too much. During my recovery, I discovered that I really enjoyed helping others learn programming. My world has never been the same. For the past 4 years, I've been mentoring students for the online code-learning organization Udacity. I've provided feedback on student projects, assisted students on the discussion forum, and worked with students 1-on-1 in video and text chats. Through these, I've helped thousands of students with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Python for Udacity's Front-End Nanodegree and Intro to Programming Nanodegree programs. Because of my experience, I've also assisted in training and advising other mentors at Udacity. How would tutoring work? First, I want to know what you want to do and what your goals are. From there, I'll make lesson plans that help you work toward those goals. If you're not quite sure about what direction you want to go, that's OK, too. I'll help you figure it out. That said, I empathize with my students in their struggles. I'm not going to talk over your head, instead working to break down complex topics to make them easy and fun to understand. Also, I'll help you shoot down those doubts you have about your own abilities. I want you to realize that if you can put in the time and the effort to do something, you really can pull it off!
