Harvard student teaching LSAT lessons

The LSAT is my favorite standardized test, and I think it's really fun, actually! We have to be logical, but also hone our intuitions, developing good habits of mind along the way.

My paradigm as a teacher will always be to make myself progressively unnecessary. I currently work as a professional writer and tutor. I've lived all over the United States, although I grew up in Scotland of all places. My scores on the SAT and ACT were perfect (1600 and 36 respectively), but I too had to work hard to get there, so I know what it's like when you're just starting out. Over the years, I've studied with students suffering from ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, speech disorders, and depression; I personally grew up inured to social anxiety, so I can always empathize. Some tutors will tell you that they know all the tricks and shortcuts. But really, there are no tricks. No shortcuts. Just hard work and sleepless nights and talking to yourself while brushing your teeth in the morning trying to remember the quadratics formula. ***************************************************** I have a decade of experience teaching a panoply of subjects. In the sciences, that includes Biology; College Physics I (Mechanics, Elasticity, Fluids, Diffusion) and II (Electromagnetism, Circuits, Waves, Optics); Introductory Quantum Mechanics; and General Chemistry. In Mathematics, I teach Real Analysis, Vector & Multivariable Calculus, Discrete and Finite Mathematics (Group Theory, Set Theory, Topology), Linear Algebra, and Probability & Statistics. I absolutely love writing, of course, so I can also teach you how to write an action scene or listen to a poem. ***************************************************** Studying is serious business. We will write essays. We will analyze passages. We will laugh in the face of all that is boring about standardized tests, because analytical reading and writing can be a lot of fun, actually.

After studying for the LSAT for nearly 1 year and seeing not much progress, I sought to alter my study routine. I was working with a tutor at the time but felt that I needed more in depth understanding of my thought process and why I continued to select the wrong answer choice. I found Simeon at a time where my best LSAT score was a 141. I explained to Simeon that I had already been studying for nearly a year and my goal was to hit at least a 150 on the actual test. Within weeks of tutoring sessions with Simeon, I begin PTing in May of 2024 at a 151. Then on May 21st, a 158 ( which almost gave me a heart attack :) ). On May 25th, I PT'd at 155. And on June 3rd two days before, my actual LSAT Test, my PT was a 160!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If the 158 nearly gave me a heart attack, imagine how elated I was that I had just hit my first 160?! Me - with the 141 LSAT Score lol. This was my very first time hitting a 160 after studying for almost a year. I did this after tutoring with Simeon for two months. I scored a 151 on the June LSAT. It wasn't the 160 that I had just PT'd two days ago, but it was a point above my goal post. I appreciated how Simeon really helped me focus more on understanding the passages and stimuluses. He didn't use tips or tricks. He really prioritized being engaged with the passages. Simeon also taught the LSAT to me in a way that aided my comprehension of each question stem and stimulus. I think this is what set him a part from other LSAT companies and tutors. He is incredibly intelligent and is passionate about the LSAT. His passion also made me want to to do better. He was also able to connect the LSAT learning to real world experiences. This made the LSAT Learning way more experiential. It stop being just another standardized test during our sessions. This made it easier for me be more engaged in learning the materials and retaining the reason for the right answer. I am so grateful to Simeon for his help. He literally has changed the trajectory of my career path IN TWO MONTHS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The LSAT is already hard enough and finding a tutor who is able to meet you where you are and commit to your learning development and success is so difficult to find. Simeon is affordable, attentive, and passionate about teaching his students. I would highly recommend him. Thank you so much, Simeon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Simeon is an impressive young man, but might have taken the teaching / tutoring as a business a little too far. I'm not sure how to feel about charging additional fee for every minutes went overtime, or cut off the sentence because the time is up. It's rather concerning to me.
