I am a Mandarin Chinese teacher teaches the language for all levels, from the very beginning foundations to the advanced creative writing/speech skills, for all ages.
I am a native Mandarin Chinese speaker who grew up in Beijing, China, and residents in New York now. I graduated from The New School with an MFA in Acting, and University of California, Berkeley with a BA in Theater and Performance Studies (Acting and Playwright Concentration). Other than teaching Mandarin, I have been working as a professional actor, playwright, editor, translator, and private writing coach. I have also worked as a journalist for the newspaper Beijing Student Times and the magazine 39.2, under the company of Beijing Youth Daily.
I understand how Chinese works essentially and know how to teach it in creative ways, and I would love to share it with you. I understand that different person has different purpose and goal in studying a language. Therefore, I teach the language in a personalized way. If you want to learn it thoroughly, I would love to teach it as rigorous as possible, for professional or academic speech and writing works. However, if you want to learn it you could use it in daily life or at least to be understood, I will teach you how the language has been modified in modern daily life, and what are the keys and what you could skip at first, to make it a little easier for you.
My playwright and editor experience could also help people who have needs in advanced professional and creative writing. In addition, I also specialized in Chinese language and accent coach for actors, for I understand how Speech works in the environment of acting in both languages.
I would love to help you based on your needs in learning Mandarin Chinese. Please do not hesitate in contacting me to see if you think we are a good match! 欢迎学习中文！
