Teaching since:

Shannon helps teenage and adult clients discover their unique talents and cultivate their public speaking, writing, and communication skills. She has over fifteen years of experience teaching communication at public universities, ESL/EFL classrooms, and the non-profit sector. Her teaching philosophy is humanist, supporting her clients to speak and write their truths from varying perspectives, backgrounds, and levels of writing experience. Shannon doesn't just look at your writing, but she provides an integrative, whole-person approach to help you work through negative thinking, the complete writing process, and time management. She has referred to her specialized program as "mindful communications."

Shannon Wong Lerner Coaching

Prepare your high school sons/daughters for AP and Honors classes over winter break with a Writer's Success Program organized by a Communication Studies Ph.D. and R1 University Instructor. Students who take the Writer's Success Program could match skills gained to curriculum from Christian Brothers, Country Day, Franklin High School, and the International Baccalaureate Programme at Laguna Creek High.

SKILLS your teenager will learn during the course of the program:

ACTIVE READING (how to read strategically to best meet your learning goals)
CRITICAL THINKING (how to transition from "opinion" vs. "fact" to using an evidence-based and logic-based set of claims)
ARGUMENTATION (how to establish a thesis, supporting points, and how to follow through with your claims)
WRITING FUNDAMENTALS (grammar, citation, syntax, active tense, conciseness, vocabulary, and the basic structure/and trappings of scholarly essay writing)

I tutor high school students privately and independently or in groups for the Writer's Success Program. Please see my website for my services, bio, testimonials, and rates:

I am located in the Elk Grove/Pocket Area. I look forward to hearing from you.
