History: What Happened Then Matters Now

I connect the history to the student! Studying the past, recent or ancient, can seem intimidating. There are so many names, numbers, and places that can become overwhelming even to experienced historians. The student is as unique as the people and places they study, and to understand the importance of studying the past, I connect the interests of the student to the topic at hand. I find that learning flourishes with connections, and connecting to history is a way to learn about ourselves, as well as others. I will meet with the potential client and see what areas they need help with, and come up with tailored lessons for them to meet their educational goals.

    About Sarah E.

Hi! I'm Sarah, and I love to help people of all ages experience how fun learning can be! I struggled as a student when I was young, and I understand that the frustrations experienced in early learning can hinder future progress. I want to help students understand that there are so many interesting and wonderful things in this world to learn and experience, and that learning with confidence can propel you beyond anything you ever expected! A little about my background: I was home schooled through middle and high school, and was accepted to college when I was 17 years old. I received my Bachelor's degree in History and Humanities from Northwest Missouri State University, and during that time I worked as a 911 dispatcher. I completed the police academy the year after graduation, and served as a police officer for 8 years. During that time, I obtained my Master's degree from Bellevue University in the criminal justice field. I also taught local seminars to community members and students on various safety topics, including crime prevention and sexual assault awareness. Now at 34 years old, I still dispatch part time, but my full time job is being a wife and mama to my husband and 2 year old son. I love to learn, and I want to share that passion with others because when you ignite the spark of curiosity, anything really is possible.
